  • Question on separate insurane policies with different insurers...?

My son and I can both drive, and we have two cars in the same household. My son, however, has been taking the bus for the past year. Our insurance policy mandates that one of us be the primary driver on one car, and the other the primary driver on the other car.

Since I'm the primary driver on both cars, is it OK to get a separate insurance policy with another insurer, so that I'm the primary driver on both cars?

  • Can I be a mortgage broker, loan originator, or insurance broker on the side?

I have weekends and some nights free every week. I work pretty efficiently, and I'm thinking about getting into the mortgage, loan origination, or insurance brokerage industries on the side. Has anybody done this? Is it possible? Any resources you would suggest? I'm really competent with the internet and building websites, and I have a large local audience that I can advertise to. If not, are there any other jobs to think about?

  • Which airline refunds 100% (or close to 100%) if you cancel?

I need to book an airline ticket, but there's a good chance that I'll have to cancel. If I cancel, I want to get a real refund of $$$, not something to be applied to a future ticket. I'll probably book business-class or first-class, but I don't know yet.

Which airline does such a refund, and does it most generously? For example, Virgin doesn't do refunds, and Southwest refunds in a way that can only be applied to a future ticket...

  • Super Tuesday video compilation?

Where can I find compilations of results from news channels about the primaries that happened on and after Super Tuesday? There are a few clips here and there on YouTube, but that's not enough.

  • Is it OK to lie about being married to get a lower auto insurance rate?

My insurer gives me a much lower auto insurance quote if I say that I'm married. I could say that my imaginary partner doesn't even drive. Are there any consequences to listing myself as married? Can it come back to bite me?

  • How can I concentrate at work and home better?

I can't concentrate at work and at home anymore. I spend all my time surfing the web, reading the news, etc. My boss hasn't noticed yet because I BS, but I am seriously slacking off. I'm not get anything done. I work for 5 minutes, and then I start checking news, or checking useless stuff on the web. Or I might be looking up something important on the web, and then I remember that I have to do something (make a call, go see someone, etc.) and go do it. Shutting of internet access isn't an option, since my job involves the internet very heavily.

I can't even THINK properly anymore...it's like my brain has shut off. I go for the thrill of checking news.

I've seen several psychotherapists and doctors, but they did not help.

Can someone qualified please help me? I used to be REALLY good until a few months ago, and now I'm the exact opposite. I KNOW that I am good (not boasting, just speaking relatively), but I'm really lost and need help now.

  • Send money to and from Canada?

I have the SWIFT code and bank account number for an account in Canada. In what ways can I send money? Wire transfers via my bank is an option, but they charge $30 for it…yikes.

Also, if I have to ask this person to send money back to my US account later, what options does SHE have?

    Thank you!

  • Master's degree in finance, economics, etc.?

I want to get a Master's degree (MS) in a "financey" and "businessy" subject -- like economics or finance or something similar -- without enrolling in an MBA program. Does anybody know of *respected*, well-known, accredited schools that offer such Master's programs via distance learning?

  • Best noise-resisting earmuffs or noise-canceling headphones?

I live in a super-noisy house and need to create a quiet place to study. I've tried the Peltor NRR-30 earmuffs , but they create a vacuum-like environment in my ears that makes them hurt a lot. Ear plugs don't work at all (I've tried most of them.)

My remaining options are trying some other powerful earmuffs that don't create a painful vacuum environment or using some noise-canceling headphone things. Any recommendations? I don't ever listen to music...

  • Recording conversations and transferring them to computer?

I attend a lot of meetings at work. I want to start recording them and then transfer the audio to my computer as MP3s. Are there any gadgets that can help me to do this?

By the way, yeah, everybody in my small team is OK with this. But I still want something unobtrusive or undetectable so that people don't feel that they're speaking into a recorder all the time. :)

  • Reputed online or distance-learning Master's degree programs from regular universities?

I'm interested in getting a Master's degree. I won't be able to attend grad school in person because of personal reasons, so I'm looking at online programs from respected and "regular" public or private universities (not DeVry, ITT, Univ. of Phoenix, etc. ).

Do any of you have any recommendations on what universities' programs I should look at? I'm interested in pursuing an MS in the following subjects, so I would appreciate any relevant recommendations that you can make.

    - Computer Science (and related subjects, like information systems)

    - Math (all forms of it)

    - Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, and related subjects.

  • Dad and son - two cars insurance?

My family has two cars, and my dad and I are the licensed drivers in the household. We both live together. He can't be the primary driver on both cars (the insurance company doesn't allow it). Having me as a primary driver spikes up the insurance rate.

Is it legal to have separate insurance companies for each car, and have my dad as the primary driver on both?
