  • Is there any way to store an update for my phone on the SD card or am I basically screwed (not enough memory space)?

I have a bit of a problem. The internal memory space for my phone is 4GB (it's the Lumia 530) but I also have a 32GB SD card installed. The thing is, there's an update to perform which is about 730 mb or something around that, meanwhile there is only about 400 mb free on my phone's internal memory, whilst there's about 29GB free on my SD card.

All of my apps, photos etc. are stored on the SD card. I moved everything it would allow me over, yet it still registers there as being 300 mb of stuff in the internal memory despite the fact it's all on the SD card. Even so, the majority of the lack of space comes from the system, which takes up 3.2 GB of the 4 GB internal storage... no idea why the number is so high, but it is. So I'm kind of screwed because I will never have enough memory to perform this update I don't think, unless I can do it on the SD card or elsewhere that basically isn't the phone's internal memory.

Thanks, if anyone can offer any advice.

  • Can my system run Cities: Skylines (w/ link to game specs and my own specs)?

The short answer is probably no, but here are the specifications needed for the game:

    http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=20...

    Here are my system specs:

    > RAM: 4GB (3.19 GB usable)

    > Processor: AMD A6-5350M APU (that's a speed of 2.9 GHz)

    > Graphics: "Radeon HD Graphics" (so specific, I know)

    > OS: 64-bit

...and that's pretty much it. Anyone know if I can run it? I'd really love to. This is a laptop by the way. =)

  • If I use the oven setting on my microwave oven, is any microwave radiation being released?

This may seem like a silly question, but is any microwave radiation released when I use the oven setting? I don't know why it would but, well, I'm curious.

It's also probably worthy to note that my microwave... well, it's probably about 15 years old, and it is about 1 metre away from me all day, every day, through a concrete wall that's not very thick. This worries me greatly. We cook almost everything in my house in my microwave, but of course usually on the oven setting. So, I'm wondering... how much radiation am I being exposed to, and how much have I been exposed to over my 15 years of life next to this microwave??

  • My fandom's (Hetalia's) fans (mostly the fanfiction ones) disgust me... what about yours?

I go to read fanfictions - I admit, not known for their quality - but all I get are people writing about r-pe, paed-philia and clear stereotypical racism/classism/sexism (see Omegaverse for those last 2... or, rather, don't) in positive lights. It disgusts me... and saddens me.

I recently had to report one that described in detail with no warning gang r-pe, paed-philia, and, perhaps most disturbing to the social historian in me, how they paired a character who represents Nazi Germany not only with another male, but then a Catholic country... it... it disturbs me. I just... yeah. Oh, and, in case you didn't guess, it's for Hetalia, of course.

Had any similar experiences with your fandom? FanFiction.net really does seem to be the place where the worst shine through most...

  • Does American "Freedom of Speech" (and other countries) have restrictions?

It's just in the UK you have the right to say whatever you'd like so long as it isn't threatening, harassing, racist or otherwise discriminatory. I think this is a great system so, I was wondering, is this pretty much the same as other countries?

  • My sister is refusing to change the password for her computer w/ a webcam despite the fact the government has literally told everyone to?

I can't convince my dumbar$e sister to change the password for her laptop and accounts, despite the fact THE BRITISH WATCHDOG HAS LITERALLY TOLD EVERYONE TO, because she went "hurr durr it's only for Russianz families I readz it on the newwss you idjit" - okay, no.

So I Googled it again and showed her the fact that, oh, look, it's not only Russians, and she went "oh well they'll just hack in again anyway whas da point" so yeah.

Now, I don't care about her own footage of herself doing **** getting hacked and streamed online, but that idiot is doing it within view of me and my whole house and living areas, yet she refuses to take government-advised precautions because of her inability to read and her stubborn ar$e PMSing. Either way, I'm worried, so, any advice?

I don't really want to leave the room but the idiot still won't do anything, and I'm close to being in view. I've always covered up my webcam, anyway, but this idiot... Ugh, should I just leave the room or what? It's not like she even uses the webcam, anyway!

  • (To some) Feminists - why do you ignore male issues? This is a serious question?

I was watching a clip from BBC's Free Speech show (if you don't know, it's where a panel gets together with an audience and discusses national issues live) and one of the topics was, "Is Britain sexist?"

It ended up with 4 people arguing about domestic abuse and sexual exploitation, etc. But only about women. And when audience members pointed this out, twice, the panel members never responded for more than one brief answer. It just went back to women.

So, I'm wondering - why are male issues ignored? Rather, I know why they're ignored (considering the West's, and pretty much the whole world's previously male-led society in history), but do you think it's right? I know it isn't all feminists - they're the ones who shine through.

So why are key figures like 50% of domestic abuse victims are male left out? What about male-on-male rape and female-on-male rape? What about male homelessness (females have a preference in being helped)? What about male genital mutilation - circumcisions? Did you scoff at the last one? Why?

I'm a woman who want equality, so I'm genuinely curious about this. I'll explain all this to my sister - she'll say: "No, women are sexualised so much!" So I'll go "Oh, but you remember Hollister's bags?" For those who don't know, they feature a faceless topless man. "Or how about that yoghurt advert (can't remember which) where the women has 4 male topless 'slaves' who she uses as a footrest?"

She laughs awkwardly, and then says nothing.

    So?

  • Have you ever looked back at your old writing and just flat-out cringed?

I'm trying to do it now, and it's just... eugghhhh, why did I write this asdfghjkl;...

Awkwardly enough, this is my most viewed piece online, and second most favourited, so I guess it can't be that bad. :D

  • I think my nan is being broken into RIGHT NOW, another house, mum just left to investigate, I'm terrified, please help?

Please, I'm in tears, I don't know what to do. My nan lives alone and just dialled our number but when my mum picked up there was no sound, other than static and an unidentifiable male voice. It's 1 in the morning. It doesn't sound aggressive but there is nothing else. I can't pick anything out.

I told my mum to just call the police but she didn't want to cause trouble so just now drove over there to investigate. I fear now for both of their lives and I don't know what to do.

Please help. Please. I'm in tears and am scared out of my mind.

  • Does anyone want to make a tribute here to Robin Williams and his death?

It's very sad he committed suicide... R.I.P., Robin Williams. A wonderful actor and man, I'm sure.

  • How would you like to die or what, in your opinion, is the most honourable death?

This is just a random thought, but, say, how would you rather die and is that your answer BECAUSE you think it is most honourable? Are there any deaths you think are "overrated" - perhaps made out better/more honourable than you think they are/should be?

Here are some examples - feel free to add any of your own:

    > dying for your country (whilst fighting for it, e.g. army work)

    > dying whilst saving another's life

    > dying whilst doing what you love most (hobby-wise, etc.)

    > dying whilst surrounded by those you love (in a simple setting)

    > dying whilst giving birth (if that of course is applicable to you)

    > dying whilst "bringing down another with you" (quite a criminal mind you must have if you choose this...)

    > suicide

A lot I obviously don't see how they could be honourable but who knows, perhaps you might find them that way.

    So, any answers? =)

  • 5 minute YouTube video taking 548 minutes to upload?

I just want to know if this is my crappy internet service or if this is normal or a glitch or just something else? I mean, come on, man, it's 6% done and it still has 548 minutes left (and it isn't skipping time quickly, either). That is over 9 hours.

    Anyone else have this problem?

  • What health risks do I have imposed on me due to fluoride consumption?

    Hello.

After checking this out a bit, it has come to my attention that there is quite a lot of risks associated with fluoride and its consumption. Whilst the NHS briefs over possible overexposures to certain (and usually young) individuals at risk which lead to dental decay, and the comments section details much worse affairs (such as brittle bones, pre-senile dementia and other mental problems, and cancer), and the green party website honestly combines a bit of both alongside independent studies, I am honestly a bit stuck on how at risk of developing these things I am.

    Here are some relevant details:

    * I am 14.

    * I am in the UK with I think the water provider of Veola Water Central (I say that since I'm not too sure but, after looking up what the water supply is for my area, that apparently covers either all or most of my district and county) under Affinity Water.

    * Apparently Veola Water Central doesn't actually add any fluoride, but some sources contain small amounts of naturally occurring fluoride.

    * It does either add chlorine or treats the water with UV radiation to kill bacteria.

    * I don't use mouthwash but toothpaste with fluoride - I'm not sure how much but it is made for adults and apparently has 'whitening qualities' (which makes me assume it probably has more fluoride), somewhere between 1-2 pea-sized portions once a day.

    * I eat some processed foods, but regulations I think are pretty tight in the UK.

    Any ideas?

  • I may have accidentally just spread an incredibly bad rumour?

The person the rumour's about: John

    The story:

    - I said the rumour as conversation.

    - The person I told was repulsed instead of laughing and told it to the next person, making it sound worse than it was.

    - The person they told it to spread it. It's spreading as I type.

    Here's the rumour:

A while ago, John was standing around, either having an argument or generally being John. John is a weird person; they like touching people's faces and harassing people randomly. They do it to make people laugh, but everyone hates them.

I was standing a bit out of the way; John was out of my sight. However, suddenly, I hear everyone in that vicinity start shouting "What the f*ck?". As it happens, John apparently kissed another guy for no apparent reason who was there. Nobody knew what to make of this.

Now, I don't know if this was true but everyone was saying it, so I took it as so (John is impulsive and likes to annoy people, and I suppose he thought that would annoy the other guy?). In any case, he apparently kissed this other guy on the cheek abruptly. He didn't seem to care afterwards.

Nobody talked about it the next day (at least not around me). However, a bit later on rumours about John being gay and having sex with some guy spread (not by me). But that died down.

Now, I just re-told someone. I don't know why; I'm not homophobic, but many are. I just thought they'd find it to be one of John's random antics. But they were repulsed. I'm now the source.

  • I am breathing in melting plastic... will I die?????? [URGENT...]?

I am still breathing it in. Will I die...?

    Now, the details.

Okay, so, basically my mum is a dumbarse and managed to melt a plastic plate for about 10 minutes without realising while cooking. I could smell burning and the house was full of smoke so I left and stood out the door for about 5 mins, but came back in - the smoke is mostly clear but I can still smell it. My parents are refusing to leave the door open or any windows despite the fact it is clearly dangerous.

Should I just get up and leave again...? I have a small headache coming on.

  • I feel as though equality-seeking people on the internet can be incredibly stupid?

And in that I mean that some put people into categories to the point that it is laughably hypocritical.

    Like, for example, this post:

    http://cishette.tumblr.com/post/84037057960/white-...

It has almost 120,000 notes, none are really negative, but it deems white people as bigots with no provocation by default? I mean, isn't THAT bigotry? Isn't THAT stereotyping?

Also like the die-cis-scum movement, in which many people agreed with it, whilst it was actually a transgendered person calling all cis people scum? They were doing it in retaliation for transgender-hate I suppose, but by using the term 'cis' as part of the insult, surely that is only doing the same?

I just... UGH. I know it's not everyone, but still?

  • Can I change my GCSE options now (I am starting at half-term)??? [URGENT!!]?

Basically, I've decided that I frankly suck at Electronic Products and I think it was a very bad idea to take it instead of Graphic Products. I want to do Electronic Products because I am interested in it, but mostly the idea of computing and programming, but I actually have chosen Computer Science as well so now Electronics has been rendered pretty useless as I will not get an A*, probably not even an A.

We are starting these DT options the first week back after half-term, which is probably about 5 or 6 weeks away (I'm not sure, but still, not a long time). The school has already said they don't know if we will be able to switch options and that was awhile back, and the options forms were handed in on March 22nd, which is about 1 month ago.

So, I need to change URGENTLY or I will get a very bad grade in my DT choice. I am very good at art and I love doing it as well as designing, and whilst Electronics obviously has all of this as well, there is less of it and I can only feel it will be very mentally straining. I get stressed easily and whilst doing a trial-run this year I felt incredibly stressed.

As I said before, I handed in my options a month ago with the subject I want as a reserve. I will start this GCSE in 5-6 weeks and there's no guarantee I can change as apparently graphics already has too many people, but it's worth it, right?

Thanks for any answers you have. It means a lot.

  • A strange adult has been filming students for the past year constantly, how to correctly report this?

Yes, well, as this comes no surprise to me, I suppose I should explain.

It was recent scandal at my school that a stranger has been driving around the school repeatedly for the past year, filming students and clearly capturing their faces, full body, voices (occasionally) and number plates of cars.

I am completely aware that this violates YouTube's terms of service and so I went to report the videos and user for this, but, it seems that when I went to file a report I could only do so regarding myself and not others (I believe, as I don't think I qualify for the third party reporter option which says no co-workers/etc, but as I am a student and they are filming other students, would this could as a vulnerable person?). I am not in any of the videos myself, so I am not sure how to go about actually filing said complaint.

I am already aware that the user won't take down the videos, they have been contacted by my school and apparently the local police are involved. They made them private before but have apparently made them public again, and have uploaded new ones. I am not sure if the school is aware they have been made public again, so I suppose I should inform them of this.

Any other advice, or how to appropriately report the videos (I know that YouTube often does very little to deal with these sorts of issues, but still)?

  • The government wants 10 hour school days for state schools...?

A member of the government says they want 9-10 hour school days (I've seen two different times listed) and shorter holidays. WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. EFF??!!

Yeah, so, WHAT??! Okay, so I have no idea who thought this was a good idea, but erm, yeah?

This is only an idea I suppose suggested by someone, but apparently it's going to totally improve education and, yup, a report I saw even said this, //enjoyment//. Yeah. What?

It would start at 9 am and end at 6 PM, as opposed to 3.10 pm (the examples they gave).

Basically, my question is: Why would anyone think this is a good idea?
