  • Do "cash back" loyalty app/cards actually give you actual cash back into your bank/credit card?

I haven't used loyalty apps/cards before. I've heard the phrase "cash back". Does that mean a loyalty app/card that advertises cash back will actually deposit money into my bank account, credit card, or actually give me real money?

I have a dell laptop. Every week there will be two days where I might work from my car for about 2-3 hours each time. So I plug my laptop power cable into the car and then open up Microsoft word. That means I work from my car about 6 hours per week.

Is this bad for my car battery?

  • why does milk and ice cream sell so much if most people are lactose intolerant?

I read that up to 70 percent of the USA population is lactose intolerant. If that is the case then how come things like milk and ice cream is so popular? I still see more than 50% of adults put things like milk and cream in their coffee. And there are still plenty of ice cream trucks on the street.

Why does such a discrepancy exist?

  • Boxing (or any sport) - How to prepare (mentally) against someone better than you?

This is boxing question, but I'm sure it can be related to many other sports.

In the world of boxing, Maidana is getting ready to fight Mayweather. Everyone knows that you don't bet against Mayweather. Everyone knows that although Maidana has a puncher's chance, that Mayweather is very likely to just pick Maidana apart. Everyone will say that Mayweather is just too good.

So my question is, how does a Maidaina and his training team approach training for this fight every day? Especially the psychological side of things? Do you go into training every day disregarding what everyone is saying? And surround yourself with peopel who tell you the complete opposite of the facts?

Or does the whole team concede that Mayweather is a difficult puzzle to solve? If so, doesn't that mean you've already accepted defeat?

Or is there something else? Do you go into training every day not thinking about who's better..but just focus on what you think the solution is to winning and just perfect your execution of it, and just hope that it works out?

DO you have to be realistic? Deluded? Or give up?

Maybe everyone approaches this uphill battle differently?

  • Recommend boxing matches for boxers to study?

I'm an amateur boxer and already have a few fights. Now I want to study boxing fights online. Can someone recommend some really good fights that I can study? I'd like to learn more about all the different styles out there. I'd like to watch any fight (it doesn't have to be house hold name fighters) where I can learn a lot from.

For example, what are some good fights to study/watch closely for aggressive brawling style? Defensive style? Boxer-brawler style? Text book style boxing? Fighters are very intelligent/crafty? Fighters who are dirty and get away with it? Fighters that really know how to fight from a distance? etc...

I just want to watch and learn, and see what I can apply in the ring for myself.

Again, I dont wnat to study just the popular fighters like ali, robinson, duran, hagler, etc...If a fighter is good at doing something everyone can learn from, i want to know about it.

So what are some fights to watch and what should I be looking for in each of those fights?

  • Time zone difference between Beijing and Toronto?

I've been in Beijing the last 2 weeks. My family is in Toronto.

Up until about last week, Beijing was ahead of Toronto by 12 hours. But then daylight savings happened recently. And now all of a sudden beijing is ahead of toronto by 13 hours.

I'm confused. Shouldn't both cities fast forward one hour such that we maintain the 12 hour difference?

When will the two cities have a 12 hour difference again?

  • Bible verse about Christians staying together?

I'm trying to remember some verses from the Bible about how Christians/believers should stay together. Or how Christian should always find opportunity to be around other Christians.

I remember it was in the New Testament.

Can anyone suggest what those verses might be?

  • I injured my shoulder during boxing, will it heal on its own?

I was sparring someone while boxing. I committed to a very powerful left hook punch, but my sparring partner stepped out of the way, and I completely missed him. While trying to pull back my own punch, which had way too much power, I suddenly heard some crunching noises in my shoulder and I felt some pain.

It's been one week now and my shoulder still hurts when I try to raise my arm laterally above shoulder level. The pain feels kind of like a sharp pain. There's no pain if i lift my arm in front of me.

Right now, anytime i throw a left hook punch, i feel pain. But if I can throw straight punches without any pain.

Did I tear something in my shoulder? Will it recover to 100% with just some rest?

  • Headache after hard sparring - exhaustion or concussion?

I'm an amateur boxer. I spar about two times a week. Each sparring session is 10 rounds of 3 minutes each. The first 4 rounds are light to intermediate intensity where my opponent gets all weapons but I only get jabs. The last 6 rounds are high intensity where my opponent continues to get all weapons, but now I only get to body shots ( I can't use jabs anymore). We break for 1 round between round 7 and round 8.

In the last month or so, I've been starting to get minor headaches towards rounds 9 and 10. Even when I block my opponents jab, my head aches a little bit. My defense is fair. My opponent hasn't yet landed a clean heavy shot to my head yet. My opponents lands a lot of punches on the gloves blocking my head, which then passes the force to my head. My opponent has improved compared to 4 months ago. Because 4 months ago, I didn't have to work as hard, and I'd still feel pretty fresh after 10 rounds. But these days, I have to work really hard from round 5 to 10, and by the end, I just want to lie down and sleep.

So before, I never use to get headaches. But now that my opponent has improved, I'm starting to get headaches towards the end of sparring. The headache goes away after a few hours later when I eat something and take a nap.

Is my headache caused by exhaustion+dehydration or is it actually head trauma?

  • Boxing - when to step away vs. keep punching?

I've only had a couple of amateur fights. I have a scenario during my sparring in the gym.

Let's say I throw a 2--4 punch combination on my opponent. Sometimes all my punches land, sometimes only some of my punches land, sometimes none of my punches land (because they were all blocked). After my punches, I can hear my coach shout either one of these statements:

    "Keep going! Don't back off!"

    Or he might say,

"Step to the side! Don't stand there and take a picture!"

So basically, I'm not sure when I should be pushing forward, or when I should be backing off and stepping to the side. Sometimes when I land several clean shots, and I can tell the person is hurt, of course I would continue to keep putting pressure. Coach is happy when I do that. But many times, I'm backing off when coach doesn't want me to back off, and i'm pushing forward when coach wants me to back off.

Does anyone have a general rule of thumb to follow?

  • Ultra Heavy Punching Bags?

At my last boxing gym, they had some super heavy punching bags. I see boxers who are 180 lbs landing extremely heavy body shots and the bags don't swing too much at all (well , the bag starts swinging after maybe the 5th body shot).

There are two types of ultra heavy bags I've seen. One type is so wide it that I can only wrap my arms half way around them. Another type is as wide as a regular heavy bag, except it's twice as tall and it must be filled with sand or rice because punching it feels like punching a wall.

Does anyone know where I go to buy one of these for home use?

  • What's the blood condition that causes birth defects?

I overheard some people trying to describe a blood condition that causes birth defects. Based on what I heard:

    - if one parent has this blood condition, and the other parent does not, then the baby WILL NOT acquire a birth defect

    - if both parents have this blood condition, then the baby WILL acquire a birth defect

    - i believe I heard the people describe the birth defect as mental retardation, but I could be wrong

Does anyone know what type of blood conditions might cause the situations above?

  • What does good "boxing skills" mean? Eg. Mayweather Jr. has better boxing skills than Pacquiao?

What does it mean when my coach and other people says one person has better boxing skills than another when both fighters are equally good fighters?

An example of what I mean is Mayweather Jr. vs. Pacquiao. You ask most people, they say both are great fighters and it's hard to predict who would win in a fight. However, most people agree that Mayweather Jr. is the better "boxer".

I'm an amateur boxer and only had a couple of fights. Recently in a sparring match of mine, my opponent danced around a lot. I had to chase him the whole fight. I put the pressure and cut off the ring when I could. Whenever I got on the inside, I'd slip and counter (in my mind, i feel like roberto duran, rolling with all the punches and countering hard to his body). But because of his good defense, he caught most of my shots, and hten runs away. Because I'm very elusive and good at counter punching, my opponent hardly tried to go on the offense. When my opponent did go on the offense, I'd tag him real good.

At the end of the sparring, my coach said my opponent "evolved" and is a "boxed his way through the fight". But he didn't say the same for me, even though I did all the work. And neither of us really got tagged by anything.

So what does good boxing skills mean? What do pressure fighters like pacquiao, roberto duran etc... lack in terms of boxing skills compared to someone like Mayweather Jr?

  • Is it bad for accounting/taxes to borrow money from my business account?

I have two accounts with a big canadian bank called CIBC. One account is my small business checkings account and the other is my personal savings account. My personal savings account is in overdraft and I'm paying a lot of interest on it. I want to temporarily move money from my business acount to the overdraft of my personal savings account. Then at the end of the month, i'll move that same amount of money back into my business account.

Is this bad for my accountant. Will I have to pay extra taxes because I may have artificially given the imrpession of increasing revenue? Will the government penalize me for something i'm not aware of?

Are there any negative consequences I need to be aware of?

  • Better to be exploited than to starve and die?

I was talking with a friend about how workers in developing countries are exploited. Then my friend sent me this excerpt from wikipedia:

"However, the common response to the argument that corporations exploit poor laborers by lowering working standards, wages, etc. is that the corporation only has an incentive to do business in these nations if there is this alleged "exploitation." If activists were to achieve their goal of raising work standards, it is likely that the corporation would no longer have a profit incentive to invest in that nation. Most likely, the result would be the corporation pulling back to its developed nation, leaving their former workers out of the job."

So this makes me wonder, isn't it better for individuals in 3rd world countries to be exploited than to be without a job and starve and die? And why would a company outsource if it can't exploit workers?
