  • Would two soft markers on an ultrasound should be alarming?

I went for 19 week scan and they found two soft markers: bright spot on heart and fluid in kidney which could be signs for down syndrome but the doctor also told me that the bright spot are very common in babies and especially in asians and fluid in kidney is also common and usually goes away. but since i had two markers she suggested if i wanted to do the amino test. but she said there is a chance of miscarriage on a healthy baby. my odds of having a down syndrome was 1:8000 chance so that's why the doctor wasn't really pressuring me but i am still stressing like crazy. Has anybody had two soft markers and their baby came out fine?

  • How can I increase my fluid intake during my pregnancy?

I am 14 weeks pregnant and I can't stand drinking water whether its cold, sparkling or flavor with lemon and etc. since it causes me to want to throw up. I can't even drink juices without throwing up either (I tried all kinds: apple, grape, peach, etc) I even tried watering things down but nothing really works for me. I usually only drink like 2 cans of non-caffine soda and maybe a glass of kool-aid all day which I know is bad because of all the sugar and that's not enough fluid. I also don't like tea so that's out of the question. Any suggestions????

  • How long would it take for my child to get over her pacifier?

She has been using her pacifier since the day she was born and now she is 19 months old. it was her favorite comfort item and she mainly needed to fall asleep or in car rides. i have slowly stop giving her pacifier and actually taken it all away completely. its been almost 2 weeks now and every night when i put her to sleep she is still crying and looking for her pacifier. Her doctor said she can't be using any pacifiers or thumb sucking by 18 months old (i am running behind) since she is developing an under bite. She quit her baby bottle very easily at 12 months old but the pacifier she seems to not be able to get over it.

  • Should I get the H1N1 (Swine Flu) vaccine shot for my 18 month old?

I don't like giving my child medication or extra shots if she doesn't really need it. She is at home with me so she doesn't go to daycare and is not around other children that much. Her doctor said it is recommended but if I didn't want to give my child too many shots that it be ok if whoever is taking care of her get vaccinated instead of my child. My concern is that it's a new vaccine and i don't know about any side effects that may occur later on. I've heard how many young kids and young adults are dying but I don't know if that's just the media hyping the situation and making it sound worst then it really is.

  • Has anybody had bleeding after sex or bleeding middle of your cycle?

I had a baby about 1 1/2 years ago and before that I had hormone imbalance, in which, I was prescribed medication to make my periods regular. After getting pregnant and having my baby my periods have become more regular then before so I am not on any medication or birth control pills. My husband and I don't frequently have sex and two months ago when we did i wiped blood and was bleeding for 2 days (spotting here and there). I went to my gyn doc and did ultrasound test and pelvic ultrasound and after the results everything was normal. My PAP was normal also and he said nothing was wrong. I also sometimes have spotting like a week after i just had my period. Has anybody else had this problem and if so has anybody knew what was wrong?

  • Is it normal for my 14 month old baby to be pooping so much?

She use to poop 1-2 times a day but recently she poops like 3-5 times a day. Her diet and appetite has been the same and I don't give her any juices. My poor diaper genie has gone through a beating these past few days.

  • What are my chances of becoming pregnant?

My period is very abnormal. Sometimes I would skip months before my period would start again. My doctor gave some pills due to my hormone imbalance and 2 months later I got pregnant with my first child last year. After my first child my period was every month until couple months ago its starting off like it use to be. So, anyways I took an ovulation test and it was neg. I skipped 2 days (i know its suppose to be everyday) and took the ovulation test and it was positive on June 1. My husband and I did it and that was it. For kicks i took the ovulation test the next day and the line was even way darker. And I took it again the 3rd day and then it was negative. Now its June 10 how much longer do I have to wait to take a pregnancy test or do I even have a chance of becoming pregnant? (I would love to have another child)

  • How do you get rid of a nagging cough?

Every time my husband gets a cold he will have this cough that stays with him for weeks. He has been constantly coughing throughout the day and he complains saying that it feels like their is mucus stuck in his throat or tickling his throat and that's what's making him cough. Now we tried every over the counter cough syrup, prescription drugs/antibiotics, mucinex, cough drops, honey lemon teas, and etc. We went to the doctors and after x-rays and testing they said nothing is wrong. Any suggestions?

  • Is it proper to use the word foot when describing a person's height?

I constantly hear people either on tv or in public places use the word foot to describe something in height. For example I'm 6 foot and 3 inches tall. Or that building is 10 foot tall. Now I always thought if it's 2 and above you use feet and if its only 1 then you use foot.
