  • Why threaten Iran?

Iran is a country that has a long history of being attacked and subverted by other nations. In hundreds of years it has made few (if any) aggressive actions that were not retaliatory towards other nations. Now it feels threatened by the world's superpower, who has labeled it a threat and surrounded it on all sides. Even if Iran fires the first shot in a conflict with the US there is no doubt about who will fire the last shot. So why should we bother with any preemptive aggression towards Iran? Why shouldn't we take the risk of leaving Iran to make the first move?

  • Is the human race a virus?

Are we a virus? We spread without relent because we can adapt like no other form of life. Be it the equator or Antartica, we live there. Nothing can stop our proliferation. Resources aren't infinite and our numbers increase without any signs of slowing. We do our best to make sure we all survive -- the law of the fittest does not apply in 'civilization'. So...where will it end?

  • Is it ok to have children you can't afford?

A friend of mine frequently busts out the "what about the construction worker with 3 kids" argument when we talk about politics with regard to the economy and education. I ask him why the construction worker had 3 kids if he couldn't afford them, and then my friend just sighs and gets annoyed. So, where do you all think the line should be drawn? Is it ok for people to have more kids than they can afford and then complain that the economy is unfair to them?

  • Should I have the metal plate in my arm removed?

I'm 25 years old and enjoy sports like basketball and snowboarding. Over a year ago I had a metal plate installed in my forearm to correct a broken bone. Should I risk additional nerve damage to have it removed? What is the risk of leaving it in? I lift weights and I've noticed that sometimes there's a tight feeling in the muscles around the plate. Has anyone else experienced that?

  • Quran - beat wife lightly - Is this really ok?

I've heard people say it is ok because it only allows a 'light' beating. However, extreme pain can be caused by a beating that does not break bones, bruise, or cause bleeding. Twist someone's arm behind their back and see how they feel. My real question is, how can people believe that an all powerful creator would make such a dangerously ambiguous remark? Is this not clear evidence that religion is man-made?

  • In Led Zeppelin's 'Good Times Bad Times' what is significance of 'brown-eyed man'?

I've asked a few people and the best answer I got so far is that it comes from the saying, "You're so full of $*#& that your eyes are brown". Thoughts?
