  • Tweeter dash speakers simultaneously blown?

I have two little dash speakers in my car. They were going out when I bought it off a friend. I replaced them earlier this spring--4 months ago or so. Last night they were clear and fine.

Today they are silent. I tested the resistance with a multimeter and not no reading (infinite resistance.) I assume this means they are blown. Both of them overnight, 4 months old. Is this typical? Do I need a different brand or something? I was using Power Bass brand, maybe the store I bought them from were no good? Or will I be replacing these guys a couple times a year?

  • Coughing from allergies?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but what ever.

I am going to a doctor tomorrow but that is still 10 hours away. I have to wake up in 3 hours. I haven't slept much at all for the last week.

My main allergy symptom is a runny nose with post nasal drip. It stopped running out the front and now seems to run down the back of my throat only. I cough violently every minute or two.

I did get relief after taking zyrtec earlier today--it worked great. But then wore off just in time for bed. As soon as I get anywhere near dozing off I sit up to cough. I just took less than half of a benadryl to see if that would take the edge off but it didn't do a thing except make me drowsy.

This is my first season of serious allergies so I don't know anything about dealing with this stuff. Any advice?

  • Who pays VAT and customs?

If I want to sell a luxury product to Chinese buyers (I am in the United States), do I need to pay any special taxes or customs or tarrif fees? Or does the buyer pay?

This is business to consumer selling.

  • Fuel in fuel rail but no pressure reading?

Is it possible for fuel to get to the rail despite no fuel pressure reading? I have a 1993 Jeep ZJ, I borrowed a fuel pressure guage and connected it to the test port on the fuel rail per instructions. No reading of pressure. When I disconnected the gauge, some fuel sprayed out--just a bit. Does that mean anything? Is the fuel pump or other component still bad?

  • Amoxicillin side effects?

How long does it take for side effects from amoxicillin to show up? Specifically gastro side effects.

I have taken this medicine many times in the past but I can't shake this heart burn. It's been a few hours, so I dunno if it is unrelated. I have a dental procedure for tomorrow and don't want to be sick after my morning dose.

  • Why does my toothache subside after eating?

I went to a dentist for a toothache, got x rays and told my symptoms, and was advised to get a root canal.

I scheduled one for Tuesday but the pain suddenly got much worse early this morning. Extremely painful for several hours starting at 3AM and I haven't slept since. I took about 800mg of ibuprofen at 4AM but it had no effect. At 8 I finally made the painful drive to get a perscription pain killer. The pharmacist told me to eat beforehand.

So I ate, as painful as it was to move my jaw, and about half hour later (without taking the prescription) the pain had faded considerably. I have kept eating since. If I start to feel pain, I just eat something--and it doesn't have to be much--and the pain gets better.

I am also very hungry, perhaps since I hardly ate the past two days. Why would this help so much? Does an empty stomach decrease pain tolerance? Is it shifting blood flow? Is it an immune system thing?

  • Does this count as a FERPA violation?

I am waiting to hear back from my attorney, but I'm a bit anxious to know what others think.

I witnessed a college professor (who is currently under review by the university and may be forced to retire after this semester) give an indication about a student's grade performance in front of the other students during class period.

The word the professor spoke were "You did not get top score on the last exam." What do you think?

  • Negotiate with Verizon?

I have an upgrade coming up in June, but wanted to ask them the favor of moving the upgrade discount to now (six months). Do I have any chance of that?

  • Apartment erratic water temperature?

I am in a 3rd floor apartment, built in the mid 1980s, maybe 24 apartments in the building. The water we get changes temperature erratically at random intervals for several seconds at a time before returning to the desired temp. Sometimes cold, sometimes hot. Just had such a violent increase of temperature that it burned by hands badly.

What causes this? Can it be fixed?

  • Tracing food allergy or intolerance?

I get reactions to food occasionally. I usually get fairly severe nerve pain all over, especially in muscles that are already sore. For example, I was doing garden work with a shovel and ate something and got nerve pain all over--and especially severe in my back and arms and down my leg where I was pushing the shovel down. The crappy part is that I have to avoid the 3 or so foods I know will trigger it. The common thread between them are disodium inosinate or MSG or white pepper. But at the same time, I can eat MSG in some things after be fine. But MSG in soups seem to be a major trigger.

Does anyone know what might cause all-over pain that lasts about half hour?

  • Difficult hair, it is soft and moves where ever it wants?

All my life I have dealt with hair that is basically like bird down. If I dry my hair after a shower, and don't leave in conditioner or put other stuff into it (which always has undesirable effects like greasiness), it is like I am under water and each hair has sways as if weightless in air. How are some ways to deal with this?

  • Small red spots that itch in the mornings?

Past few days I have been waking in the mornings with groups of small red spots that itch. They don't last long and disappear by late afternoon. But they are like miniature mosquito bites. I have experience with bed bugs and I inspected my sleeping area and found no signs. I can check again in a couple weeks. Until then, any other possibilities?

  • Which direction are plumbing coupling threaded?

I work on cars a lot and it is rare for a LH threaded fastener. I have a plumbing coupling that seems REALLY stuck on. I have been trying to turn it counter-clockwise but it seems like it will need a lot more force to come loose. Before I start breaking things, is it possible the pipe coupling is threaded counter-clockwise to begin with?

  • Burned teflon and teflon flu?

I was boiling some water for something and completely forgot about it. I am not sure how long; the kitchen was warm from it though and the pan was white from minerals in the water. Anyway, when I saw it I moved the pan outside and opened the windows and doors. My questions are: How much gas exposure is needed to cause illness in humans? I have parakeets in the next room, they seemed ok but of course that could change, does anyone have experience with that? How long does the house need to air out?

  • Hibiscus only blooms in winter?

I live in the upper Midwest and have a hibiscus bush that is 3 years old. For the past two years, it doesn't bloom in summer. However, in the middle of winter it will bloom.

I have tried fertilizer, altering watering patterns, and changed its place this summer--temps have been triple digits the past month or two and it has been in direct sun. Last summer it was also very hot but had indirect sun half the day. What do I need to do to get it to bloom in summer?

  • Email header spoofing attack?

A friend told me that someone sent a cogent email from my email address claiming that I wa canceling a contract with them--which caused problems. I have also gotten blacklisted for short periods of time. I can understand that someone may have hijacked my mail server, (I am going to read the logs), but what concerns me most is that someone sent a highly convincing and coherent email and cancelled a contract that I had set up with my friend/client. As if an individual is behind that action and took time to craft the damaging email. Where would I start to stop it from happening again and where would I start trying to figure out who sent the email? I already changed all passwords.

  • Cable burying legality?

Are there any federal laws in America which require that cable and telephone companies bury cables? As opposed to having them lay on the ground?
