How Do I Convince My Parents to get a Dog?
When I was really little, I used to tell my parents I wanted a dog even though I was afraid of them. Now, I'm a Junior in high school and I have come around to actually wanting one. My favorite breed is Boston terriers, so if I could get any breed it would be that. I've done a little research on Boston terriers, enough to know the basics about training them and they live 10-15 years. For me, it seems like the perfect dog. I'm an only child, my house itself is small, and I need something to motivate me to be more active but not so active that I don't have time for anything else. In my dreams, I see myself being totally devoted to this dog and loving every aspect of it. However, there are lots of problems that face me. To list a few, the street I live on is very busy, my house is messy and overloaded with random junk, I'm going to college in about a year, I've never owned a dog before, and this dog will be my greatest responsibility of my life so far. This doesn't even include how my parents feel about dogs. My mom is terrified of dogs, especially ones that are large and/or try to interact with her in aggressive kind of manor. She freaks out just when a dog touches her or barks. My dad feels that dogs are rather useless responsibilities that cause problems. He doesn't see the positives in many things, so he neglects all the good things about dogs that I've come to learn and want to have. I have more I want to say so I'm going to add it in the comments.
5 AnswersDogs6 years agoHow Do I Talk to Her?
I'm a Junior in high school, and I've never had a girlfriend. I've always over complicated things or tried too hard or some sort of circumstance has always stopped me from getting the girl I like. I'm getting kind of frustrated this year and I'm trying more than ever to find the right girl. I'm interested in this girl right now who I don't have any classes with. She came to my school halfway through Sophomore year (I go to a private school) with her twin brother, and they sat behind me in religion class, so I got to know her a little bit then. This year, I only see her around school and I have one class with her brother. Our school has Chromebooks now, so yesterday I messaged her on Google's chat app and asked for her number. I texted her so she'd have my number, but she didn't respond, so I'm worried already she doesn't like me, although she's always friendly to me when we talk. I know not to over text her, but I know I need to talk to her so I can get to know her. I have no idea what to say to her though besides school stuff and to ask her about dance because she's on a couple of dance teams. How do I talk to her, show my interest in her, and make her interested in me? If I can establish a good relationship with her, when is it okay to ask her on a date? Other things? Thanks for your help!
2 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoCrush and Prom Help?
So before I give details, please don't think I'm crazy, but I have a crush on one of my teachers at school. But her and I are pretty close for a student-teacher relationship. I talk to her about random stuff around once a week, and if I don't have conversation with her I at least make a point to say hi to her at some point. I know a lot about her and she knows a good amount about me. However, she is of course a teacher and she's also engaged to be married next summer. I am a Junior, and our prom at my school is in the fall, this Tuesday. As crazy as it sounds, I asked her if she would go with me, but she said she couldn't, but she said she might be there as a chaperone or just to see everyone dressed up if she was free. It turns out she's chaperoning, which means she'll be there all night. In the meantime before knowing that, I didn't ask anyone else to go with me, so I'm one of the small amount of people without a date. I'm not the only one without a date and there are girls without a date, but the girls I would have asked already have dates. I'm fine with going alone, but I want to spend some time at the prom with this teacher. I'm definitely going to talk to her and I'm probably going to take a picture with her, but I kind of wanted to ask her to dance. I'm really doubtful that this is a good idea though. Should I ask her? If not, what else can I do to have fun alone at prom? Other things? Thanks for your help!

3 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoWhat Should I Do about this Girl?
I was at a party for one of my good friends on Saturday night and while I was there, this girl walked in and sat at the table all of my friends were at. She was sharing a seat with someone across the table, so I figured this friend and her were dating. I talked with her a little, mostly small talk if anything, and when we left I made sure to say goodbye to her and shake her hand. I hadn't caught her name either, so I asked her that as well. Anyway, since that night, I can't get her out of my mind. It turns out, according to someone I talked to, that she isn't dating the kid she was sitting with and is seemingly single. I knew she had an Instagram, so I made one and followed her after making sure it looked like is been on Instagram for more than a night. However, she hasn't followed me back yet. I know it's only been a few hours, but what should I do if she doesn't follow back? Should I send her a direct message? How can I talk to her and get her to like me? Other things? Thanks for your help!

5 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoMeeting Girls at Walt Disney World?
I am 16 and currently visiting Walt Disney World for the 20th time. I am an only child as well, so it's just me and my parents. I don't really mind my parents, although they get on my nerves and fight sometimes. However, I want to have more freedom, but I never have really asked for it. I am also single and see so many pretty girls here, that I just want to find one and hang out with her for a while or even longer than a while, but I've never done anything like this. How should I go about meeting girls at Walt Disney World, or should I not try at all? How can I talk to my parents about being independent? Other things? Thanks for your help!
1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoDo I Like Her?
I am 16 and never have had a girlfriend, but I don't think I am unattractive in any way. Except that I can be awkward and have some anxiety. But anyway, I have known this girl since elementary school, and one of her brothers (she's a triplet) is my best friend. My best friend and I go to the same high school, she goes to a different high school, and the other brother goes to another high school. I usually see her when I go to his house, which is pretty often because we live within a five minute walking distance of each other. When my mom takes the triplets and me for a night out, my mom always lets her sit in the front seat and make tie-breaking decisions on what we do. After we bring them home, my mom always comments on how pretty and perfect she is. Although she is pretty, she can be very shy and has some of the worst nerves and anxiety. Her mom playfully makes fun of us because we agree on everything and share the same thought processes, like procrastinating and being anxious over nothing. Over time, I am starting to think that I really like her, because she will make me nervous when I see her and I find myself always wanting just to hold her and take care of her and make her problems go away. However, I don't think she does or would like me back, because I know she has liked other guys and come close to dating them. Also, I'm worried about what this will do to my best friend and my friendship. So, do I like her? Should I talk to my best friend first? Other things? Thanks!
1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoWho to Ask to the Dance?
I'm a Sophomore at a rather small high school, and the Freshman-Sophomore semiformal dance is in two weeks. I've been wanting to ask one of three girls, but I'm not sure who to ask, how to ask them, or if I should ask any of them at all.
The first girl is a girl I have always kind of admired from afar since Freshman year. She found out that I liked her towards the end of last year, so I stopped liking her. This year, we talk to each other every so often, a couple times a week probably. I'm thinking of asking her as a friend and seeing how it goes, but she mostly hangs out with the popular girls, who I rarely talk to just because I don't know them so well and I've never really wanted to except for her.
The second girl started going to my school in January. I was confident enough to be the first person she talked to, and I became her first friend. I started talking to her less and less because she got her own group of friends and didn't need me. Now, we don't talk at all, and, when I try to talk to her, I get a vibe that she doesn't like me.
The third girl is also new at my school, and I talk to her every day in the one class I have with her and her twin brother. She can seem stuck up at times, but she's usually nice to me. I don't know much about her though, but I'd ask her just as a friend.
So, which girl should I ask? Should I just go alone? Other things? Thanks for your help!
1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoHow to Ask this Girl to the Dance?
I'm a Sophomore at a rather small high school, and the Freshmen-Sophomore semiformal dance is in a month. There's this new girl at my school that I have once class with, which is the first class of the day. She has a twin brother in that class as well, but their schedule is full of electives because they came in the second semester. The only time I really get to talk to them is in the class we have together and if I see them in the halls or something. Yesterday, I was talking with this girl through the whole class, longer than ever before, and it was great. I can tell that she likes me as a friend at least, but I still do not know her very well. However, I was thinking, although it might be a spur of the moment kind of thing, about asking her to the semi. How can I ask her? I didn't really want to go over the top, so I'm looking for simple methods and needing to do it in school. Thanks for your help!

1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoCrush on My Teacher/ Homecoming Dance Help?
To start, I am a Sophomore in high school and I am 16. The teacher of my Honors Chemistry class is insanely gorgeous. She's 23, wicked nice, and I love talking to her. I email her a little less than every day, just asking her questions about school work and stuff and throwing in a little sweet talk as well. She used to respond well to the sweet talk in my emails, but now she kind of ignores it. At the Homecoming dance, I flirted with her and I made her smile and giggle. I almost asked her to dance to a slow song, but I thought it might be a little inappropriate. To be clear, I know she's too old for me and I don't want to date her. I just want to crush on her and have a near friendship with her. So should I tell her she looked pretty at the dance last night? Should I say or not say anything else? Other things? Thanks

I am a Sophomore at a private high school. Each grade has about 100 kids in it, so everyone gets to know everyone, especially people in our own grade. There's this girl. She's in one of my classes, and she's in my grade. She was the first new person that I talked to at this school, which was about 5 months before our Freshman year started with the placement test. She's really pretty and extremely nice. She didn't have a lot of friends in middle school, but now she has tons and she hangs out with a lot of boys, half of which are guys I wouldn't expect her to talk to. I'm not making a bad name of her or those guys (I try not to, but I could be one of them), but I find it rather odd that she talks to them. I've felt kind of a connection between her and I. But she's kind of that way with everyone, and, sometimes, I don't even talk to her as much as other guys because I get nervous about approaching her. I stutter, forget what I want to say, and make a near fool of myself when I'm around her since I've started liking her. On our first day of school, I saw her, she gave me a hug, and she told me about her vacation. In the middle of the day, I told her I liked her. She was happy that I told her, but she said she has a relationship with a guy she met in Portugal. Feeling disappointed in myself and her and a lot of other things, I asked her if she would go to the Homecoming dance with me. She said she would think about it. I think she felt bad about it, because she wanted me to sit next to her and her friends at an assembly soon after. She said this wouldn't change our friendship, but at the same time, it kills me to know that she doesn't like me like I do. From then to now, we have been discussing our feelings, because I don't think she likes me as much as other guys. She told me she doesn't feel that way and that she actually tries to be my friend more than she tries to be friends with other guys and I take things too seriously. She's right, because I get really jealous of her and then try to stop talking to her for good, but we both know that I can't leave her. Tonight is the dance, and I'm still at this standstill with her of me trying to stop liking her and her trying to be her own person. So should I ask her to dance tonight? What are the things that I'm doing wrong? Can I get her to like me? Other things? Thanks

3 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoShould I try Winter Track?
I am a Sophomore at a private high school with about 400 total kids in it. I have never been a great or even good runner, with a mile time of about 12-14 minutes in middle school. However, I have never trained for or been serious about running. I weigh a little under 150 pounds at the moment, but I have lost 17 pounds in the past month. Also, I have a touch of arthritis in my feet, but I won't let that stop me from doing what I want. I play golf in the fall, and I am thinking of playing tennis in the spring. But I do not have a winter sport. I was talking to my friend who runs cross country and track, and she recommended winter track. I have been thinking it was a good idea, but I was wondering if I should really do it. The only things I worry about are if running will be too much for me and if I can keep my grades up. My grades aren't perfect like they usually are, but my GPA is still a 3.6. So should I try winter track? Why or why not? Are there any other things I should know? Thanks
