  • I'm hosting three college students for supper...what should I serve?

I'm hosting three, out-of-state student musicians for one night in my home. I need to feed them supper, breakfast and pack them a sack lunch for the next day. Any suggestions?

  • DIY'ers Are you proud of yourself?

Tell me about some project you recently completed that you want to brag about a little. I just organized my pantry cupboards and lined them all with self-adhesive linoleum tiles. Before the shelves were just bare wood, and everything was shoved in the cupboards willy nilly. Now it's neat and tidy and if something spills it can be easily cleaned up. Now...tell me yours!

  • Dems and Cons-is it ever okay to distort facts to influence your argument?

Now don't start with the whole "Bush did!" "Obama does all the time!" BS because this is a serious question. Do you ever deliberately and knowingly "twist" the facts when you are discussing an issue with someone from the other side of the aisle? Serious answers only please.

  • How do I tell my employer I'm looking for another job?

I've worked for this company for about 7 years-it's a job where I am on my feet all the time. Last year I was in a BAD car accident where I had crushed both of my legs. I spent most of last year going through various surgeries and tons of physical therapy. I' was finally released to go back to work and I just can't take it. It's too painful.

I have a degree in Accounting and I plan on returning to that type of work-I only took the job at this place because it was close to home (I live in a small town...nearest city is 30 miles away) and I wanted to be close to home and my kids.

I feel obligated to tell my employer I'm leaving because throughout everything they literally bent over backwards to accommodate me. They've been so supportive and patient and kind throughout it all, and now I feel like a complete jerk for walking out on them (or at least planning to). It's a small, family owned facility and they really do treat all their employees like family members. So how do I go about telling them? Thank you in advance for your advice.

  • Why do conservatives oppose welfare but seems to have no problem with the farm subsidy program?

The subsidy program basically pays farmers to grow crops that aren't profitable (mainly corn, wheat and soybeans). The crops aren't profitable because so many farmers are growing them so they can get subsidy payments. It's a catch 22 and all the subsidy program does now is encourage large scale corporate farming.

  • Why is "homo" considered an offensive term but "hetero" is not?

I'm not being sarcastic. I use the term "homo" a lot in the same way that I use the word "hetero"...when I use the terms I am using it simply as an abbreviation by dropping the "sexual" ending. (i also refer to bisexuals as simply "bis")I am certainly not intending to offend anyone. My friends tell me when I say "homo" instead of "homosexual" that I am being offensive. Agree?

  • To all the Indian/Pakistani Cooks in the house..Chicken Karahi?

One of my favorite dishes when I go out, I keep attempting to make at home, but instead of the beautiful deep red almost caramel like flavor, I get this pale tomato-y mush that is almost flavorless. What am I doing wrong? Any pointers would be appreciated..best answer gets 10 points and my undying gratitude!

  • How do I get a workout with two broken legs?

I was on a weight loss roll where I lost almost 65 lbs. Then, in March I was struck by a drunk driver and both of my legs were crushed. Surgery left me unable to bear any weight on my legs for several months. Gradually I have been able to progress from wheelchair, to walker, and now I use a cane. My problem is, I have a great deal of residual anxiety and some depression from the accident, plus I have started gaining weight again (which adds to the depression)...I know getting my heart rate up and burning some extra calories will help me emotionally as well as physically, but I'm at a loss as to what I can do, as the pain and hardware in my legs severely limits me. I cannot kneel, squat or crawl.I still cannot walk very far and there is certainly no jumping or bouncing or running of any kind. I welcome any suggestions. Also I should add that I cannot afford to buy any special equipment or gym memberships. In addition to being drunk, the woman that hit me was also grossly underinsured and my family has taken a HUGE financial hit as we have had to cover a lot of the medical expenses ourselves. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
