  • Can my daughter's father claim us on his tax return?

I'm currently receiving CalFresh, MediCal, and CashAid assistance but I do so because I don't live with the father. I will not be filing a return this year if he can claim us when he files?

Does anyone know if this is possible to do?

  • Is my employer violating overtime laws?

    1) If an employee works more than 8 hours in one day, but does not reach the full 40 hours in one week, does the employer have to pay overtime for the day that the employee worked more than 8 hours? Or can the employer bypass overtime pay because the employee fell short of 40 hours in the week?

    2) Also, what is considered a full time employee? Is it 40 hours exactly? Target Corporation considers 32+ hours per week as full time--this might be their own policy, not the state's law.

    3) My employer says that since I am no longer a 40 hour per week employee (starting school), she isn't going to subsidize my benefits as a full time employee, instead she's going to subsidize my benefits according to the hours I've worked in a week and she'll deduct the rest from my check.

The third question isn't as important as the first two...

  • Can my employer terminate me for wanting to go to school?

Last semester my employer gave me a hard time about going to school.

She stopped being stubborn and allowed me to proceed.

I ended up coming into work on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3 pm and stayed till 7, 8, or 9 pm.

This semester--with special consideration to last--I chose classes that'd allow me to arrive earlier at 1pm.

    She doesn't want this.

Can I be legally fired for trying to go to school?

Can she terminate me (lawyers are tricky) by saying I missed work too much without persmission?

  • Dog mauls neighbors dog on own property?!?!?

My dog (boxer pitbull mix) is highly trained, he just has a bit of aggression towards other dogs. He just killed a smaller dog who came onto OUR property (It had no business there). The dog's owner took it to the vet, but unfortunately it died. Now the owner is claiming he's going to sue me! Does he even have grounds? Why would I be liable when the dog came onto MY property... Legal Experts only please!!

  • Why does my instep hurt?

I've been doing a running, calisthenics, and strength training program through the LAPD....

I've been doing alright, but earlier this week I was halfway through my run and my foot began to hurt.

BTW, I do a ten minute stretch before and after my workout.

I've been having to limp because my right foot experiences pain when I place my weight on it.

If I can explain the pain as closely as possible, it feels like the pain is in the bone. It isn't in the bottom of the instep, nor the top. It seems to be right in between, inside where no massage can reach.

Additionally, in the shower while washing my feet, my bad foot's big toe experienced a cramp, and the pull came from the area where it hurts when I place my weight on my foot.

What the hell is wrong with my foot? It's impairing my run and causing me excessive strain when walking as normal.

Answers from doctors, or people from orthepedic offices are preferred. THANKS!!

  • Mixing Motor Oil Viscosities?

My car needs an oil change badly. Most of its motor oil has evaporated from sitting there for two months (I know how bad that is for Delco Batteries).

The problem is that I need to move it 67 miles away from its current location because we moved. I know it will make the trip. When I get there I plan to do a complete oil change.

I have two quarts of 5W-30 and one quart of 5W-20. Will it be safe to mix those two? The ride is only once, as soon as I get there I will change the oil and filter as I have the supplies there.

Can anyone help!? Please and Thanks!

  • What the hell is this in my teeth!?

For a while before having my wisdom's extracted, the last "in-between-tooth-space" in my mouth had been clogged or something.

Let's explain it like so: the teeth in question are in the upper-right side of my jaw.

Picture it like this: what would've been the wisdom is tooth #1, the next one in front of it would be #2, and the next one in front of #2 would be #3. I had the trouble flossing between #2 and #3.

I had the wisdom's extracted, and the Dentist placed spacers in all my chewing teeth.

I ended up dropping my insurance and I stopped going after they removed my spacers. Ever since, there has been too much ease in getting floss in between #2 and #3 (no resistance whatsoever) but if I turn the floss in there to a sideways angle, it captures something, when I yank out, it feels as though if I pull it right I'll pull that thing right out of my gum along with the tooth it's apparently under.

I've been trying to get it out but now it actually shows. I've had two people look in my mouth and they say that there's a metal staple-looking thing sticking out of between #2 and #3. What the hell is it?

The dentist never said anything about putting any metal in my mouth, so now I'm wondering what the hell is this?! Please help.

    Thanks! Sorry so long!!

  • Anybody who watches Operation Repo...?

    Does anybody watch that show?

I love it.... but sometimes, there is some material in that show that makes me wonder why Lou hasn't been sued to bankruptcy--metaphorically speaking.

I know we've all seen Sonia and Matt (good thing for Lou, he's done; swears he's Mr. Tough Guy) do their share of CA illegal actions such as breaking and entering, forceful removement from property--I can go on.

Matt's unevolved character could have cost Lou a s***load of money.

I'm just trying to get people's feedback on that.

Argue or agree with me! :-)

  • Why does my head feel like this?

I feel like my neck is having trouble holding up my head. Like if it doesn't want to support it.

I feel like my ears are popped, well, actually they are!

I also have this mild to moderate headache right in the center of my brain.

If ever I smoke, the pressure in my head and ears increases.

I don't exactly feel fatigued, it's more like lazy.

I've suffered from allergies and sinus issues since a child, but the symptoms have not been severe enough to be concerned, and I haven't had allergies for a while until recently.

Most of my headache symptoms correspond with those of sinus pressure and headache, but I haven't found any explanations as to why my ears are plugged like this.

Sometimes I try not to let it bother me but when I focus on it, it feels as though my head's pressure increases and increases until I attempt to pop my ears.

    What's wrong with me?

  • Anybody know anything about Hoover vacuums?

My Hoover TurboPower 3100 Fold Away vacuum uses two different filters--the HEPA oval-shaped filter (has black plastic and white paper-type material and goes in the canister) and a final filter (looks like a simple rectangular piece of cotton).

My question is: What will happen if I use the vacuum without the final filter? Is that bad? Will I mess it up? Will the dirt fall back onto my rug?

    Any help is appreciated! THANKS!

  • How to register as a process server?

Does anybody know how the heck to register as a process server in the county of Los Angeles?

I tried calling so many different numbers provided on the county website but either nobody answers or nobody knows what that is.

    I also went to http://portal.lacounty.gov/wps/portal/!ut/p/c1/04_...

and that website shows the option "How to register as a process server" but it redirects to the same information-less site!!

Can anybody help me figure this out, without having to go to an office. Thanks!

  • What's this pain in my chest (or lung probably)?

It doesn't happen too often, but when I take a deep breath I feel this terribly sharp and stabbing pain in my chest (usually the left side) that feels like it's coming from my lung. Sometimes coughing or sneezing hurts.

Starting yesterday, I got that sudden pain (feels like a cramp in my lung) and till today at 3:15 pm, has not completely gone away. I noticed that it gets worse when I have a forceful exhale or no air in my lungs. Today I laughed and it hurt like hell. Felt like my lung got stabbed or something. What is it? I'm only 22, and I've been told my heart is doing fine. I'm scared to laugh right now because it hurts too much... It doesn't help that I have a bad case of GERD either.

  • 91 Integra burning oil too quickly...?

If an Integra with mods (i.e. cold air, exhaust, cam, header, etc) is burning oil ridiculously fast, is there a problem with the PCV and/or oil weight? why does it get so hot? Should I flush the radiator?

How can I stop this before having to rebuild the engine... cuz that's a B*&$# at home... lol.

  • Why can't i concentrate when I read?!?

I am a college student, and I have found that every time I read my texts I fall asleep. I try to get enough sleep and I try to eat right, but when it comes to reading, if I'm not tired or sleepy, I get VERY (ridiculously) easily distracted.

I need to read my stuff or else I'll fail. Many times I find the material is interesting but I still lose focus whether it's sleep or a distraction that causes it.

How can I maintain focus in my reading?

  • These flange nuts are driving me NUTS!!?

Besides heating them, how can I remove the flange nuts from my 2002 Honda Accord's catalytic converter? They're stripped so I can't use sockets.

  • Stripped flange bolt nut?

How can I unscrew a stripped flange bolt nut? This bolt connects the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter. I tried to get it off with my weak little impact wrench but it wasn't strong enough. Then I tried to muscle it off and I slipped n stripped it. It's probably torqued to 80 ft-lbs.

Since it's already stripped, I tried to hammer it loose with a vice grip, but only stripped it further.

How can I get this stubborn bolt off?!?!
