  • In order to initiate transcription in eukaryotes RNA polymerase needs _?

    a) the protein products of the promoter

  • Where does the spliceosome bind in an pre-mRNA transcript?

    a) to the exons

    b) to an adjacent intron and exon

    c) to the 5' UTR

  • How is transcription terminated in prokaryotes?

    a) RNA polymerase transcribes through the polyadenylation signal, causing proteins to associate with the transcript and cut it free from the polymerase.

    b) RNA polymerase transcribes through the terminator sequence, causing the polymerase to separate from the DNA and release the transcript.

    c) RNA polymerase transcribes through an intron, and the snRNPs cause the polymerase to let go of the transcript.

    d) Once transcription has initiated, RNA polymerase transcribes until it reaches the end of the chromosome.

    e) RNA polymerase transcribes through a stop codon, causing the polymerase to stop advancing through the gene and release the mRNA.

  • Which statement is specific to protein synthesis in prokaryotes, but not eukaryotes?

    a) Extensive RNA processing is required before prokaryotic transcripts can be translated.

    b) Translation can begin while transcription is still in progress.

    c) Prokaryotic cells have complicated mechanisms for targeting proteins to the appropriate cellular organelles.

  • Confused about a guy?

I've been talking to this guy for several months now. We have hung out several times, the two times that we hung out at his house it ended up that we kissed. We don't text everyday but there are times where several weeks will pass before we text again. When we first started texting, he told me that he wasn't looking for a relationship just sex but after several months passed, I saw him again and he started texting me again. He has made several comments about how beautiful and sexy I look. I am confused as to if this is going anywhere or if he is just looking to use me. It's confusing and nerve racking.

  • life decision help!?!?

I am stuck on a decision and need some advice/help.

I am currently in college living in the dorms. I hate the dorms and want to move out next semester. Well after searching for a place and many things falling through, my roommate decided to live in this apartment complex with 2 other girls. It is a 4 bedroom place so I can move in too. However, this place is not much different from the dorms. I don't know if I should move in with her or what?!? My other options are to move in with either of my grandparents or see if my cousin still has a room available for rent in his house. I am totally conflicted. Please help!

  • Research Analysis Paper Topic?

I have to write a research analysis paper for my English class. It has to do with American pop culture and the arts. We can either analyze a particular text in American culture or the role the arts play in American culture. I was thinking of choosing a particular text. She said that within that we can choose a book, a character, a short story, an article, a magazine, an advertisement, etc. I've been kind of tossing around the idea of using either Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll or Grimm's Fairy Tales as my text. However, I don't want to necessarily analyze the text as a whole. Any narrowed suggestions are greatly appreciated.
