American Democracy and the 'Assault on Reason' book?
I've started reading it and am concerned about the level of misinformation and manipulation that seems to be occuring at the moment.
I'm particularly interested in media manipulation from climate change skeptics.

3 AnswersBotany1 decade agoSome feedback on espaliered fruit trees please?
We live in Western Australia, which gets very hot in summer.
Trees that I am considering espaliering include citrus, mango, mulberry, fig - I'd like to hear your thoughts on these, particularly if mangoes take to being espaliered. Comments on whether some of these would be burnt being against a red brick wall, we have walls that may be suitable along the east - morning sun side and also north - winter sun side. Also, we are able to take some space along the driveway which would involve building a frame. Thanks!

what are the most innovative things that you can think of to reduce our warming emissions? Suggestions that are not already being broadly implemented please:)
5 AnswersGreen Living1 decade agoI've had the locks changed and now need to arrange to have my sister 1. pick up the rest of her stuff and 2.
return some of my stuff.
Is it ethical for me to with-hold some of her things until she returns at least the things that I know she has taken recently?
I'm talking about some books from my bookshelf, a shoe rack and other small items, but honestly, we have had them in our house, leaving dirty dishes, eating all of the chocolate/drinking our alcohol, drawing on the walls and screwing into the doorframes to put a padlock on!! I'm so annoyed, but want to do this right.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoFor supporters of climate change solutions...?
Would you pay to help install a renewable energy project like geothermal, solarthermal, tidal or other similar?
Also, please comment on baseload power, set up cost versus ongoing costs as much as you like:)

Thanks guys - series are the best, not movies, because probably we would just hire them:)
4 AnswersDrama1 decade agoAustralian Politician Malcolm Turnbull?
What do you think?
He supported climate change solutions (more than most liberals) and now is actually saying sensible things about economic management.
Could he be the next Prime Minister? Would he do a good job?

3 AnswersCancer1 decade agoWhat do you think about carbon offsets?
NO SKEPTICS PLEASE
in particular the different types of offsets:
- resulting in reduced ghg?
- resulting in increased sequestration
5 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoClimate Change Propaganda?
The vast majority of climate science (almost an absolute majority in fact) reflects the increase of CO2 and corresponding temperature increases that have not been related to solar flares since the 1970s.
Why, in your opinion, is there so much doubt about climate change? And what should be done to educate people?

5 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoHow to improve the way that I feel about myself?
We've been under a lot of stress just recently, having bought a new house and moved in, along with my sister and her boyfriend. That was about a month ago.
On moving day I went mental at my sister for wanting us to pander to her (She was getting us to drive her 40 mins to our cousins house to baby-sit for the cousin, but then mucked around getting ready...) . I feel bad, but she made our cousin really late to the party that she was going to and had often been insisting that she get everything her way. Since then there have been times when they have refused to talk to us (even my husband who didn't apparently do anything wrong)... and last week we got into a physical fight over the phone. I'm still really embarrassed that I didn't just let her have the phone, but so that you know, she hadn't shown any desire to use the phone before and I just wanted to call my husband to check on the details of something that we were arguing about. She was a lot rougher than me, trying to bite me etc.
4 AnswersFamily1 decade agoWhat is the value of Yahoo Answers?
Compared to systems like Wikipedia where people actually give quite a lot of consideration to remaining independent and giving factual accounts for each topic.

15 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoChances of being preggers?
We're happily married and are in an OK position to have kids.
We had unprotected sex towards the end of my cycle and I am now around 6-7 days late.
I feel fine, although I thought I had some small amount of period pain last night. No breast tenderness which normally comes just before my period.
I got a bit grumpy the night before last, but we had just been to a funeral and I was tired & cold...
Haven't mentioned anything to hubby yet, but he would be pretty happy about it I think, but don't want to get him worried about that unnecessarily.
What do you think?
