Aspiring writer who's his worst critic, Darrell decided to write in the "About you" section in third person as if it were some biography written by some illustrious third party. He has no idea that hardly anyone will read this because people just aren't normally interested in such things. He's funny sometimes, but sometimes his jokes fall flat. He's also insecure about his writing, despite having them praised by teachers and peers alike. Everyone leads their own story, and Darrell hopes that one day his story will be one of success-- only time will tell. Darrell, born in Federal Way, Washington, April 6, 1994 currently resides in the state in Washington, but wishes the specific city to be held confidential. He prefers the use of good grammar even when speaking and can be very sarcastic at times. He can be reached at facebook under the name "Darrell Thody." But he advises that you message him first before adding him.

  • Best idea for getting a gaming PC?

I'm a PC gamer, er, mostly-- but the current PC I'm using is... less than ideal for such gaming operations.

I'm looking to upgrade-- get an entirely new PC with decent enough specs that games like GTA IV, Assassin's Creed, Far cry 3, and other such demanding games can run smoothly on default settings (maybe even high settings)

But I'm not too PC-wise. I'll admit I don't know too much about PCs. I see one of two options at this point:

-build a PC: might be more expensive, but I could learn a lot from it and from what I've heard you can get a better PC in the end than if you just bought one

-buy a pre-built PC: something with everything already in place-- something that's ready to go pretty much when everything's plugged in the right places-- but it won't have that "I built that myself" attachment to it

Please advise me on how to proceed-- I might also mention that I don't mind how long it may take to earn the necessary funds, just as long as I can ensure a great gaming experience in the long run. Not afraid to learn more about graphics cards, sound cards, processors, etc in the process, either. Thank you for your time.

  • What are your thoughts on Valve Software/Corporation?

I asked about EA games earlier-- a company less than favorable by many-- but what about Valve?

Valve's made many best-selling games and with Steam they've made possibly the best digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform out there.

I must confess, I'm a huge fan of them and their attention to their customers over their sales figures-- But what about you? What do you think of Valve?

  • What is your ideal gaming environment and setup?

What's the setup you'd like to have while gaming? (If you're a console gamer and prefer it that way, tell me how you'd like your tv, seats, snacks, accessories, speakers, etc. Like maybe you'd want a 47 inch LCD with surround sound, a mini-fridge for keeping beverages cold and whatnot.)

To give you an idea, here's my little list of what I'd like:

-I personally want a standing computer desk (to keep myself from sitting for long periods as it's not good for ya)

-Two moniters, for things like minecraft (for looking up craft recipes without having to minimize) and other times when I may want to look something up without minimizing everything

-Gaming computer, obviously (something powerful, but not overclocked-- not unless I could get it done by someone who knows wtf they are doing)

-A nice set of speakers, but an even nicer headset for communicating with teammates/raging at five-year-olds (lol)

    -Mini-fridge: gotta have the mini-fridge.

-A reasonably cool room-- temperature-wise. Not just for the feel but so that the computer won't get too hot after long sessions.

So what would your dream game room be like?

  • What are your thoughts on Electronic Arts (EA Games)?

What do you think of them? They've been around a long while but the opinions of them have become more mixed over the years. I'm not asking for any sort of flame-war, I just want to know-- what do you think of Electronic Arts?

  • What are your top five favorite video games of all time?

Please provide with each in your list a brief reason of why the game is where it is in your list. Also if there's a 6 that barely doesn't make it, feel free to mention it and why it barely misses the top 5.

(I'll choose best answer based on plausibility of reasons and readability, not my own personal preference.)

  • How would you tell someone about Team Fortress 2 who has never heard of it before?

And how might you talk a friend into (or out of) giving it a try?

I personally find it might be difficult to describe such a large game to give someone a general idea of what it's about. How might you try to explain to a potential free-to-player?

  • Vegans: Any good recipes?

Do you have your own, or do you know of a website that generally produces good vegan meal recipe results?

Also, mind sharing them? I'm going vegan and I'm wanting to try more vegan things to help the transition along.

  • Have you ever felt violent briefly for no apparent reason?

I've had it once in a great while-- you know, that brief moment where you just want to grab the nearest person's head and bash it into something hard, without any provocation?

I'm not violent by nature, and I would never act upon these strangely uncharacteristic impulses, but I have to ask: is this normal?

A recent question I posted has gotten no answers, and I think it might be because of the long description

  • Does a vegan/vegetarian diet have adverse affects on a male's hormones?

I heard from someone that the lack of meat decreases the amount of male hormones a man produces leading him to be more sensitive emotionally and possibly less potent sexually.

Is this true? I'm really skeptical about this so called "fact" and I've had difficulty finding anything to refute or back it up on Google.

  • What websites and books could help me go vegan?

Not just the transition, but make sure I have the right nutrients. Please avoid the .com's if you can, unless you know the information to be true. I have access to a local library, so access to most diet books should be pretty easy.

(If you hate hearing stories about how someone decided upon something, skip to the next paragraph) After a fishing trip, I found I was much less inclined to eat living things. To see something through the stages of living, dead, gutted, skinned and cooked it wasn't so appetizing anymore. I realized that things tend to be so much easier to eat when you haven't seen its face, so why would I only stop eating what I've seen? Upon further thought I realized that these previously living things we eat breath the same air, they require food and water, and they feel pain just like the rest of us. The more I ran this through my mind, the more cruel and unfair it seemed to me. It got to the point that even seeing bones in my meat reminded me of this new found guilt-- I have bones, would I like it if someone were eating me? Not really... So I decided in about November that starting this year I'd be making the transition.

I've been looking up information but I can't help thinking that I don't know as much as I should. I have no vegan friends to consult, nor any elders who are vegan-- this is my own decision by which I have nothing to base it on really. So I've come to you, Yahoo! Answers for some guidance and assistance-- hopefully you can help and support me as I make this lifestyle change.

Also, this gathering of information isn't just to educate me on it and help me change my eating lifestyle, but so that I can help me, my family, and my friends understand what it is to be vegan (I'm to understand that there are many common misconceptions on veganism, my father for instance thinks vegans are just really picky eaters) . I'm eager to know and I excitedly await your answers :D

  • What sort of job might require a person to leave their country sometimes?

Trying to write up something good and I realized my British male character who's about in his mid-twenties doesn't quite have a finite reason for why he's in America in a time when a worldwide disaster is tearing society limb from limb (quite literally sometimes). Anyone know of an occupation that may have brought this man to america? Besides a traveling salesman.

  • Personal opinion or give me facts if you want: do thoughts exist?

We normally perceive existence as something being physically see-able (whether by the human eye or by microscope). So do thoughts count as something that exists? Give me opinions and or facts if you like.

  • Do you agree with this way of motivating people?

    http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-harsh-truths-that-wi...

If you're hesitant to click a link, I understand. This link was shared on the facebook of lyricist and musician Brent Black, also known as brentalfloss (look him up on youtube, he's hilarious!)

But back to the point-- do you think there are better ways to motivate people than being mean? Or do you think the mean approach works the best for you?

In the link, I found the article to be very motivating in its "act now, or suck it up" kind of mentality. Do you think this is the best way to motivate people? Does it motivate you?

  • Why do people keep asking if they're attractive?

I've seen so many questions that ask "Am I good looking?" or "Do I look ugly to you?"

It's kind of sad to see people pandering to a community of random people on the internet whom they've never met. Do the people in their lives just insult their looks so much that they've got low self esteem? That their last hope is a bunch of people who have no idea who they are and probably never will? Why the heck are people asking if they're attractive?!
