If only attractive people mate, the population would become more beautiful in a shorter period of time. The only reasoning against this is that then there may be a new standard for attractive and ugly.

There would also be less competition if the less attractive forfeit their game. This might have a good effect in that it would be easier for those in the game to find partners, but less competition can also lead to less desire to win (easy games = not as interesting).

There's also the problem of gene diversity. Do people whom we perceive as beautiful really have sufficiently diverse genes?

What about the feelings of those who feel they are unnattractive?
