I think I may have a very very small crack in my head on a 3100 v6 between cylinder number 1 and the water passage. slowly I notice grainy sand like stuff in the overflow tank with almost no noticeable water loss, car runs a tad bit rough and the coil pack that fires that cylinder did go bad but the car had 100k miles on it. I have a friend who has been driving a ford truck for years with a cracked head and he says he just adds a gallon of antifreeze every year. so the question is, is it ok to just not worry with it since it doesn t appear to be a big issue and head repair is expensive.

note, I have changed the intake gasket and no water is present in oil

I have a 96 buick century station wagon as a 2nd car, replacing is not an option, it has only 100k miles on it, but I am wondering if I may have a very slow head gasket or intake gasket leak, dropping oil and slightly dirty crap winding up in bottom of overflow tank, also the transmission fluid is burgundy and mechanics are saying ill crap it out if I change it, so I may just drive it until it finally croaks and then replace the transmission and engine all together.

I have upgraded my s3 to an s5 with cspire. My s3 still has my number tied to it just with no wireless service anymore. Can I give this phone to my girlfriend to use as a straight talk phone with a telephone number she has already with straight talk on an older phone that is dying?

I have been watching occasional blu ray movies for a few years now, i like the better picture quality and all but im sort of hesitant to drop much money into it.

I have a cheap insignia player that is holding on fairly well, it occasionally blips and drops the audio but its still usable somewhat, and i have a first generation sony blu ray player in another room that is now useless, it is not broken, however sony has failed to release one of the firmware updates in over a year making it unsuable on my movie manufactured recently.

Blu ray players are in the 100$ range and im thinking or replacing both with decent highly rated ones, but i am skeptical that this format will be around for awhile, being a kid from the 80s i remember the betamax and laserdisc stuff, 200$ isnt much of an investment for two players but i would expect that they would still have some use 5-10 years from now and not be rendered obsolete by some crazy firmware issues. I only own two blu ray movies, i mainly rent them from netflix, most of my movies are still in dvd or vhs format and i still use them also. I dont really want to throw 200$ at a couple of machines that will be useless in a few years.

So whats everyones honest opinion on this? will blu ray be dead soon or would it be worth upgrading my ailing equipment?

I have been searching for a movie I caught on Netflix awhile back and cant seem to find it, it was a psychological type movie about a serial killer that was released sometime in the 2000 era. The killer drives an old classic car, I think it was an orange color, he runs upon a victim/accomplice that ends up tied in his web of cruising the streets in search of victims, I remember a scene where the accomplice was hiding in a bathroom or shack at a rest stop from the killer or something, and I think he starts out riding in the trunk of the car until he befriends the killer in some way. he eventually has to dispose of a body from a person he killed in an office building restroom on the second floor, he throws the body out of the window and it falls behind the bushes, he later has to wait for dark so they can pull the car around and dump the corpse in the trunk. this is not a a big hit type of movie, it had an indie feel to it, probably was never released to theatres, but wasn't a dirt cheap movie, the cinematography was decent. I think this movie had a generic type of title but I can remember what it was , not a very descriptive one but something one wordy because I remember trying to search for it online after seeing it and having a hard time finding it and finally gave up

I am making the assumption that the disease is real, but how many people actually have it? I know a handfull of people who claim this and almost all of them are on disability. They claim that is a type of muscular pain, but yet i see them move about the house like anybody else would. Some of them complain from time to time, but they never seem to refrain from what they want to do because they dont feel good. Are they just trying to cheat us out of a check, or is there something else going on? I find it very hard to actually take their claims at face value. Something about their entire demeanor seems off. Is it mental illness in some cases rather than a physical problem?

Ive tried making small adjustments to it and can never seem to get it right, right now its loosing a couple minutes a week.

This is a wall hanging clock from the 70s that was made out of a cross section of a tree with a painting on it. The clock inside is battery operated but not the digital kind of today that has a perfect "heartbeat" this one has coils on either side of a rotating disc with magnets on it, it ticks 2 or 3 times a second.

Is their any shortcut to calibrate these? it has a screw that can be adjusted, but it seems impossible to get it to the point of not have to reset it in between daylight savings time changes. I dont want to replace the clock unit with a newer one as i like the sound it makes.

I have been working on a GM Delco stereo from 1984, the digital model. It was bareley working when i got it. Poor solder connections through out the whole set. I resoldered every, poor connection i could find and got the display to come on, before the radio would work but the led display was dead. Everything seems to be ok now except one problem I cant figure out.

The stereo sounds beautifull and all speakers have been replaced, after running it for about 10 - 20 minutes really kicking the right channel starts to pop in and out. when i balance to the right only, it is in both front and rear speakers and sounds like a clear but much lower sound and as something louder plays it pops in at full volume, the higher the volume goes the more of the sound plays at normal volume but you can still tell it is not right as it sort of gurgles. turn the radio off 5 minutes and back on and its all gravy again.

I have checked and cleaned the pots, I have visually inspected all solder joints and resoldered those that were questionable. I checked every capacitor i could get my probes on and they were at 100% of their values.

My only thoughts are maybe the heater is leaking heat behind and is overheating the back output transistor (could this be a sign of an overheated transistor?), could the transisor be "about" to fail? (i always thought a typical failure of these was just shorted set or open with no sound in that channel). does anybody have any ideas here? i have pulled the set and disassembled it over 5 times now and im ready to get it right.

Maybe someone has some expert knowledge of amplifier technology and can give me some ideas on where to look based on symptoms. Since the problem only happens when its hot i cant really look with my multimeter for differences in each of the channels with the set off.

Dont want an aftermarket radio, keepin it stock, if i have to ill just buy another radio from the junk car ive been parting out up at the pull-a-part, like to get this one fixed short of ordering new output transistors.

I am going to attempt a transmission rebuild myself to save money and proove that theres no magic to it, dont worry its a toy car so i can take as much time as i need lol. it has overdrive and autozone listed a few in their system when quoting me prices of rebuilt ones, if i order the kit i need to know exactly, is there any resource on the net that maybe would tell me this from the VIN?

Its a clanking kinda of sound as soon as it engages in reverse. U joints appear ok and transmission is in good condition. A friend said it might be the rear differential, if so does anybody know how costly it is to repair, can it be done easily? I am fairly savy when it come to repairing vehicles aside from things like transmission rebuilds etc. Is the rear end rebuild / replacement hard to do? How immediate is the need for it to be repaired, it also clanks slightly when letting off the gas as im rolling downhill...

I have a crt television set that i have been calibrating and have turned up the red green and blue drivers, I am now getting an absolutely great picture when the screen is full of color, I am having a problem with the black level though, in dark areas of the picture there seems to be a greenish color in the picture.

What it looks like is that the green driver is emitting a slight bit more than the other two in the shaded or dark parts of the picture. I should be able to obtain a perfect picture if i can whip that green driver in to place, I want to be able to bottom the lows in the green driver circutry without effecting the highs, is this what the cut off controls are for??

If i drop the driver setting the low light greens fall into place but the intense colors then do not have enough green in them (faces look purpleish)

Guess I could use some advice on these controls. If I had to guess (and hopefully this is the case) I can set max voltage to a gun with its driver control and set the min voltage (or resting state) with the cut off control, is this the case?

Does anybody know of good generic mounting hardware for and LCD panel television? What i need is not a wall mount or anything like that, but rather to mount it inside a cabinet (old console stereo/tv)

The picture tube is about gone in the old unit and i want to mount the LCD set in the cavity where the crt is, after removing the plastic face and crt a perfect rectangular hole will be left exactly the size of my LCD widescreen set, if i can find a bracket that will mount to the back of the LCD set and allow me to anchor it on the top and bottom of the old crt cavity inside the set I could make a really modern console tv and still be able to play my albums and 8tracks

I know this might sound like a retarted question, but ever since quitting smoking 2 months ago it has gotten really hard to unwind. I cant remember back to before I started smoking to know if I felt this way before or not since its been over 15 years

I may be a little of an over anxious person in some respects, which may be why smoking was so appealing to me so many years ago when I started, well I am constantly tense now, I cant seem to just relax, ill be driving etc and realize that my mind and accelerator is racing and then ill think, **** im not even supposed to be in a hurry.

It was strange because a few weeks after quitting I seemed ok, infact other than missing the smoking, I was very relaxed if not somewhat in a trance, well now that its been 2 months I am starting to be wound up tight like I was right before running for my smokes before I quit.

I want to just relax and enjoy myself but it doesnt seem as it is possible on just the will to do so alone, my impulse is to get in a rush about everything and I end up just stressed over it.

Ill plan something fun, then wind up getting all worked up over the details, then rushing around trying to get there, making sure I got what I need and so forth, and I know that the times I have truely been carefree and relaxed were the times that I enjoyed myself the most.

I want my calm relaxed personality back like I had when I was getting nicotene, I was thinking that after 2 months the withdrawls should be gone and im not just dying for a smoke or drooling over the taste but I feel that in always tense and wonder if theres a way to get that feeling without smoking, I remember somewhat that before i started i was a little wound up but that was so long ago that could have been just teenage hormones

I am trying to figure out why NiMH batteries die so quickly in my boombox compared to alkaline batteries, but however in my digital camera they outlast alkaline batteries.

I know that this is a result of the digital camera running at a higher load, but I need to know what measurement accounts for this.

For example 2500mAh NiMH battery if I understand the term correctly should run a 2.5 amp load for an hour or respectively a 1mA load for 2500 hours, but this is not the case.

Suppose you have a 1500 mAh alkaline battery (im not sure if this is a good figure for a AA alkaline battery) and a 2500 mAh NiMH battery: The NiMH battery should take around twice as many pics as the alkaline and run the boombox twice as long, however what really happens is the NiMH battery takes 20 times as many pictures as the alkaline but only runs the boombox a tenth of the time the alkalines would have.

Somewhere , somehow mAh is not assessing the true nature of batteries, what other measurments might give me a better idea of why this happens?
