  • What is a phone comparable to the htc incredible 1?

I have phone insurance through verizon and they want me to take the pantech breakout as a replacement. They apparently don't have anymore more incredibles to replace mine. I still want a screen about the same size, same mp camera, and anything else comparable or a little bit better.

  • What are the repercussions of putting your car in park while the car is moving?

Back story. I pull into a friends driveway which is on an incline of 15 degrees. As I'm pulling up pressing the gas, I for who knows what reason shift to park while moving forward. There was a loud screech and I push the brakes and shift back to drive. Later the check engine light came on after there was a hiccup in the driving at about 50 mph. Once I came to a stop at a stop light after the engine light was on I was having minimal trouble accelerating from 0. Now that I think of it, I'm wondering if I messed up the gears, but I can't be sure. It's currently garaged and I don't want to move it to take it to an auto repair unless I have an idea that it might be safe to drive. Does anyone have an idea of what I could have damaged, specifically?

    Thanks for the response.

  • If a boat goes downstream 72 miles in 3 hours and upstream 60 miles in 6 hours, the rate of the river and the?

If a boat goes downstream 72 miles in 3 hours and upstream 60 miles

in 6 hours, the rate of the river and the rate of the boat in still water

    respectively are ________?

Need help with a question. I figure going downstream is 24/hour and upstream the boat is going 10/hour. So I added the two and divided by 2......(10+24)/2= 16/hour.

So I figure 16/hour is the average speed of the boat? Right?

If that is correct that would mean the water is pushing the boat 6/hour in the opposite direction upstream. And 8/hour downstream? So do I again average those two to get 7/hour.

I come up with 16/hour in still water and 7/hour for the stream

I'm kind of confused and anyone help me with the problem or let me know if the math is correct?

  • Are more sympathetic people, better at school?

I'm correlating that sympathetic people do better at school with various classes. Is it the causation for being interested in more topics? Do people that are less sympathetic do worse in school? Is it because they are only interested in their own interests and not the interests of others?

  • How to be interested when you are not?

This isn't a matter of lying to someone. It is a matter of making the other person feel good about themselves. How do you act/become interested in something you aren't? Most the time I try to understand why people are into certain things, but other times it is just no use to me.

Does anyone have techniques for pretending/becoming interested in something your not for the sake of making the other person happy.

If you have any similar situations, I would love to hear them.

    Thanks

  • How do you start an Idea Night?

I want to create a night out where people in my local area can meet up and create ideas. Idea's about anything. New games, new products, new gadgets, new science, new music, new ideas period. We have smart people all over the world, but no one to collaborate with. I want the meet up's to possibly take place at mom and pop bars or restaurants.

I need idea's on how to make this interesting to everyone, how to work this out when everyone gets there, is it just a meet up where people drink and talk, or is it more serious.

I guess it would help me the most, if you could give me an idea on what would make a great idea night for you.

    Much appreciated everyone.

    Thanks!

  • How likely is it that a train derails, going 23 mph?

Just in recent news of the train derailment in Ohio, I was just curious.

    1) How often trains derail?

    2) What are the major causes?

    3) Why does it take 1 month to investigate a train derailment, but takes 2-3 days to get the train off the tracks?

  • Privacy:Counter to Google Glasses?

It's not hard to imagine Google glasses having a lot of memory. Even enough to video tape a whole day. My issue is people wearing these and video taping EVERYTHING, including you. Google mentioned it would probably contain a light on the glasses to show you the glasses are video taping. It's also been in the news that webcam's have been hacked, so hacking google glasses does not seem far fetched. Is there such thing a video/camera disruptor? For those people that do not want to be video taped by others.

  • Is it possible to be awake and dreaming at the same time?

Is it possible to be awake and dreaming at the same time?

I read a little bit about how your brain acts the same during REM sleep stage as it does when you are conscious. So can someone explain why they think it is possible or impossible to be awake and dreaming at the same time? Would you see imaginary things that aren't really there, like if you brain created a dream while you were awake. What would happen? Is there any scientific basis to support or refute this idea of being awake and in REM sleep stage at the same time?

    Thanks

  • Have you have seen the moon so beautiful?

I don't know what it was about the moon tonight. I layed out on the trampoline a little bit buzzed. It looked fasinating. I stared for a long time. After awhile the clouds passed over it and I don't whether it was me or the buzz but it looked like there was a moon echo or the moon was refracting light. There was a light that seemed to be dimmer but more of an oval around it and another less dim light that was a refraction of light to the right of the moon less dim behind the other refraction. It's hard to explain. It was like a russian doll, decreasing in size and light. The interesting thing to note that the positioning was different. It wasn't the same size or shape or area as the moon. The first refractory was an oval, which was a bit dimmer. The second was the same shape as the moon but was a little to the left of the moon, also a bit dimmer than the first refraction.

I just thought it was interesting, maybe I was imagining it, but maybe not, but all the same I thought I saw it. Take it for what it's worth. The moon looked like it had a triple refraction or 2 smaller reflectors.

I'm sure this sounds funny to someone to knows factual evidence about why there is a dimmer radius of light, but this seemed different because the 3rd wave was only to the one side. Anyways, just chiming in to make the interwebs more for of information from the stupid people.

  • Is it possible to create an artificial plant that exchanges CO2 for oxygen?

Is it possible to create an artificial plant that does not die and can exchange CO2 for oxygen?

Would we be able to manipulate the plant to take in CO2 at a faster rate?

For example, we can breath faster and can take in Oxygen faster, so would we be able to speed up the exchange rate in an artificial plant?

The only reason I ask is because I was curious as to whether an Artificial highly intensified plant could be placed into a masked and create a circular flow of CO2 from breathing, then to the plant to exchange for oxygen.

Also, What plant or anything on the Earth, has the highest CO2 to oxygen exchange rate?

  • Had a weird dream, feel free to comment on the oddities?

I have had multiple weird dreams in the past couple of weeks.

-The weirdest dream of the two was I had a ringing in my ear when everything was all quite and it was a high pitched ring, but I could control the ringing noise. I could make it louder and more prominent. I think at this point I started to dose off, while still holding my cell phone in my hand. I can't really tell you if this was a dream or me just thinking abstractly. At this point I was told or I thought that the ringing in my ear were millions of entities talking at once, creating a quieter or louder frequency. Then in this altered state of dreaming or thinking about this too longer, it said/my brain said breathing is how we all communicate. Everything in the universe communicates through breathing.

-One dream was that we are thinking of Energy all wrong and that it is something else.

I have no idea what that means

These dream's or what ever they are both occurred while just laying in bed. Doing nothing but trying to go to bed.

I know both sound weird, but I'm sure someone would like to hear or maybe in the unlikely possibility someone else has had a similar dream.

  • Sports Application idea for smart phone?

I had an idea for an application for a phone. You would use augmented vision from your cell phone at a sports game. You would hold up your phone in...camera mode or if there was augmented vision mode. You would then point the camera at the field (let's say your watching a soccer match for the sake of the players being more spread out). You direct your phone's camera toward the goalie and your phone would show a blip above his name. If you click on it, it would then show his name and potentially his stats. Now this could become cluttered when there are multiple people together( I would assume it would be able to zoom in like an Iphone by dragging your fingers on the touch screen in opposite directions). Each person would have a small dot or blip to click on.

The phone would create this information from facial recognition, number recognition, and/or position recognition. The alternative would be people watching the game and keeping the blips above the players which could become tiresome and tedious, not to mention a need of a lot of people to do this.

I don't know how this idea could be created, but let me know if you have any ideas as to where I could start or any ideas to better this potential app. idea.

    Thanks
