Define the name: "Bubba."?
Suppose you had to explain the meaning of the name "Bubba" to someone in a foreign, non-English-speaking country. How would you explain it to them?

Languages1 decade agoDo certain occupations seem to have a higher percentage of people with a bad or good attitude?
I was just curious because I saw a question on Y!A that said that a certain profession (that I would rather not mention here) seems to have an unusually high percentage of people that are rude, insensitive, have a bad attitude, or otherwise give off "bad vibes" to the people they deal with in the course of doing their job. Which professions/vocations have you noticed has people with bad "vibes", or good "vibes." What do you think are the reasons that it is that way?

1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoIs it the year 2012 already?
Although this year is reckoned as 2008, there is an error in the Western calender which makes it actually four years greater. The year we know as 4 B.C. should have been the starting point, which is 1 A.D. And so the new millenium actually occured on January 1, 1997. So then that would mean that now, called the year 2008, is actually the year 2012!

You're driving in a Yugo. It's rush hour and you're on an Interstate somewhere near Atlanta, Georgia. Is there the faintest hope that there's a merciful, higher Being that can deliver you?
I ask this because I remember a guy in went to school with who was an outspoken atheist. But one day he was in the passenger side of a car driven by a friend of his. Later he told us that the guy drove like such a nut that he "broke down" and prayed! We all thought that was funny.

9 AnswersRoyalty1 decade agoAre there too many holidays?
Many well-meaning people have invented minor holidays such as: National Boss Day, Mental Health Awareness Month, etc. Is it just me, or does an abundance of official and non-official, minor holidays dilute the meaning of all holidays. What do you all think?
6 AnswersOther - Holidays1 decade agoIn what situations do you stop or not stop for a school bus?
I can't remember if you stop for a school bus if you're going the opposite way on a NON-divided 4-lane road. I'm pretty sure you don't have to stop if the road is divided and you are in one of the opposing lanes.
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHas there ever been an incident where a corpsman or hospital-man was intentionally shot at by "friendlies"?
I was curious because I saw this type of thing depicted in Clint Eastwood's "Beguiled." In the movie, Eastwood's character saw a corpsman attempting to evacuate a wounded enemy soldier from the battlefield. Feeling like it was an act of treason, he shot the corpsman in the back. Later on, when questioned at the girl's school about how he got wounded, he said HE was the corpsman who got shot trying to move the wounded enemy (Confederate) soldier.
Do any of you know of real incidents in past or present wars where this has happened?

1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoWhat should be taught in school that isn't being taught?
If you had the power to change the curriculm in every school or college, what courses would you require that everyone take that isn't being taught now? I'm talking about serious subjects which could feasibly be taught in a classroom, not something like "Love-Making 101." Some things ought to be learned outside the classroom!
I'm just kind of curious because I'm thinking about going back to college (again!) and I'd like to take some classes that would be of practical use to me. I mean above and beyond the basic requirements of course.

1 AnswerOther - Education1 decade agoWho wants to give men's fashion advise to the fashion impaired?
It's about that time to buy some new clothes again. I need to get at least one new suit, but I would also like to get some clothes that are not quite so formal. You know, business casual and some things appropriate for clubs or going out on the town. And if my budget permits, I'd kind of like to get some clothes just a little more casual than that but not as "dressed down" as T-shirts and jeans, which I usually wear where I go out. You should know that I'm not a fashon expert by any means, and I'm not wealthy, but I'm prepared to spend a little extra this time for a decent assortment. Just some basic stuff.
