  • How to purchase Minecraft with Paypal?

I have researched this question a lot and still not found an answer that works.

We are trying to buy Minecraft using Paypal. I have a valid Paypal account and still whenever we try to complete the purchase we get a message that says that we cannot complete the purchase using Paypal and to use another payment method. I don't want to use another payment method, because when I tried to use my credit card, I got a call 5 minutes later from my credit card company saying that they have had lots of problems with Moneybookers. I don't need my credit card info stolen, so I don't want to go through Moneybookers, and actually can't anyway, because they don't process credit cards from Illinois (odd, but true).

This is so frustrating! Paypal says everything looks fine on their end, and there is no getting through to any support people at Minecraft. I finally found an email support page, and when I posted a question, it was to a page that is no longer valid.

    Any thoughts?

  • Getting the "stink" out of a splint?

My daughter has a removable splint on her thumb (it's broken). Does anyone out there have a way to get the stink out of her splint? At the end of the day, with all her activity, both her hand and her splint stink! We've been soaking her splint in baking soda water, washing it with soap, and we've had ok success. Getting the stink out of her hand is a little harder.

Has anyone had success with anything else?

  • Garage door opening by itself?

We were gone for a few days, and the neighbor checking our house called us and told us our garage door was open. She closed it and then it opened a while later. It continued to do this until we came home, and it's still doing it.

I've just found out that 6 of my neighbors (townhome complex) have the same problem. They've all changed their codes and they still have the random opening/closing problems.

    Any ideas?

  • How did someone get my credit card number?

Last Saturday, I logged into the Skype site because my niece added my email address to a list when she signed up for Skype. I followed the link and downloaded the Skype software for the Mac. I never installed it though and was never asked for anything like my credit card info.

The next day, my bank emailed me to say there were suspicious charges on my account. I checked the recent charges and the only odd one was a charge with the label Paypal-Skype for $14.00. Since I'd never given Skype my credit card number I thought this was odd. I called Paypal (I do have a really old account which I never use) and told them about the charge. They looked at the charge, and said it was charged by someone halfway around the world in Jordan. The suggested calling the bank immediately to cancel the card, which I did.

But now I'm left wondering, did this have anything to do with Skype? I never provide credit card info on a solicited email, but only on sites like Amazon, LL Bean, and sites that I'm familiar with.

  • Illinois fishing licenses?

My kids and I like to fish, and I'm wondering whether or not I need a fishing license if we intend to throw the fish back. I know we needed a license in Michigan, but even after reading the literature from the Illinois DNR, it's still not clear. It refers to a license needed for "taking" fish, but I'm not sure if that means "taking" them home after catching them, or "taking" them out of the water.

It's only $13, but I was just wondering.

  • Which is worse for kids?

We let our kids drink diet soda in limited quantities. I'm not thrilled about it, but I don't want them to get all the sugar in regular soda and juice has a ton of sugar too. Since it's only occasionally, I don't stress about it. The kids mostly drink water.

Anyway -- to my question. I love drinking ice (decaf) coffee with milk in it (no sugar). I let my 9 year old drink the whole thing today and my husband was aghast. I told my husband it was probably better than diet or regular soda since it doesn't have sugar or nutra sweet. And since it's decaf, the amount of caffeine he would get is minimal. I maintain that it is a better choice than diet soda.

What do you think? And before you say it -- I know there are lots better drinks than either of these, but my question is between decaf and diet soda.

  • Teachers ignored my daughter....what would you do?

My 9 year old daughter kicked the gym wall today when she was aiming for the ball. She is a tough competititor, and when she kicks, she means business. She is no stranger to bumps and bruises and doesn't cry easily when she's hurt. When her foot hit the wall, she was in instant pain and burst into tears.

The gym teacher told her and a few other girls that they needed to toughen up. When her foot was still bothering her a few hours later, she asked her homeroom teacher if she could go see the nurse. He said let's wait. She asked him later, and he said to stop asking.

She waited until after school during Kung Fu, and asked the Kung Fu teacher if she could go to the nurse. That teacher let her go. Unfortunately, the nurse was busy (or had to leave) and didn't look at her foot but told her where she could find some ice.

Fast forward a few hours....back from the emergency room, to find out she indeed did break her big toe. I'm furious! Multiple teachers ignored her requests all day, and it turns out that something was really wrong!

I'm going to take her to her classroom myself tomorrow (she has a boot and crutches) and talk to the homeroom teacher, but part of me wants to scream at all the teachers involved and let the headmaster know.

    Very disappointing...

  • Chances that my caladium will come up again?

I planted caladium bulbs in my garden last year and did not take them out for the winter. I live in Northern Illinois and am wondering whether or not they will come up again. I don't want to plant something else there in case the caladium are going to come up, but if they don't come up, I don't want to lose the opportunity to plant something else.

  • Do you consider fitness swimming more cardio or resistance training?

I'm a female and I currently do 1 hour of resistance training 1 or 2 times a week. I used to do it 3 times a week, but since I started swimming, I have cut back on resistance training since it seems that swimming incorporates both cardio and resistance. I currently swim about 1800 yards three times a week. Do I need to do more resistance training or does this seem like enough for a balanced programme. ( I play ice hockey on Saturdays)
