  • Junkanoo and other events in Bahamas?

I want to plan a trip to the Bahamas, preferably next winter (December) because of school that will be the best time. I want to go there because my family has ancestry there. I just want to eat authentic Bahamian food (though I m sure my grandma s recipes aren t far off) and experience the junkanoo for real. I live in a place settled by Bahamians who came to the U.S.years ago, the junkanoo used to happen once a year here when I was little... but it s died off. I think everyone has forgotten where this place came from. Anyhow, I want to go to Nassau (preferably). Where does the junkanoo happen that time of year? Where could I stay?! This trip is just an idea atm but I know it s going to happen

  • How can I buy this car from a family memeber...?

So I am going to school full time and also am working. The bus is how I usually get around but it's ridiculous. 10 minutes on the hwy gets me to work while it takes 1 hr on the bus. I wouldn't mind (because overall the bus for a student is cheaper than car payments and insurance) but I may start being late to work. My uncle has a 2013 kia soul, and is thinking about selling it to a dealership. I would like to buy it from him, but his payments are kind of high. If he sells it to the dealership and I buy it back, will I have to pay the same price...? Is there a way to buy this car straight from him (even though he's making payments?)

IDK, I am confused. I've never had my own car- only driven a car once or twice, am fairly young ($$++ insurnce!!) and I just want a good deal.

Older used cars have nice prices but... I'm just really confused overall lol. Could someone also explain financing to me?

  • Will blonde rinse turn my hair lighter?

I want to dye the tips of my hair a bright color like red or purple, but, I have really dark brown-almost-black hair. So If I use a rinse (no way I'm dying or bleaching it!) will it turn light enough for me to get a nice red color? Also, will it still rinse out? I don't want anything too permanent.

  • Is this a sunburn?

I live in Miami so you'd think I'd know what a sunburn is or isn't, right? Well I've always laughed at those orange-red skin blotches on my friends because I thought I couldn't have any due to my darker tone. I'm a light brown color...

anyways I went to the beach all day yesterday. I didn't sunbathe. I mostly swam and we walked down a strip too. So my skin was familiarized with the sun yesterday. Right now, my skin is darker, like I got a tan but there aren't any red spots like a sunburn looks on other people. My face feels like it does on your skin after you are burned with something- continuously burning feeling but not so bad. and it doesn't hurt to touch it at all. My forehead, arms, and shoulders feel this way. No redness ... but how do I make this go away D:

  • Tips for transitioning to natural hair?

Hi! I've decided not to do the big chop.

I want my natural hair to grow in healthy. I've heard of the L.O.C. method. What products or oils should I try using?

Also, I see that many women don't use heat... AT ALL. Already it takes hours for my hair to dry unless I walk around in the sun for a few hours. If I sleep on wet hair, it takes the whole night, plus some hours during the day to dry completely. Are all dryers a no-no? Is an overhead dryer worth the investment?

And flat ironing... I usually flat iron my hair once a week. This is how I wear my hair to school. Are there any alternatives to aborting flat ironing? Does flat iron spray work? (I've used it and love the way it works. My hair is usually very hot to the touch when I flat iron without it but with it it's hardly warm.)

Any other tips are welcomed! I'd also like to know some protective styles ^_^

    Thanks in advance!

  • Can't open my pictures on my SD card?

Any very-smart-with-computers type people out there? I have an SD card that wont let me in... I plug it into my computer and my folders are renamed from the last times I plugged it in with different names including weird characters... and when I try to open it I get a dialog box saying that the "'folder' is not accessible. the filename, directory name, or labeled syntax is incorrect" and I'm thinking it's because of the crazy characters, but I can't rename them either. This is so frustrating. The SD card is from my digital camera and I had hundreds of nice pictures in there.

  • Why isn't Supernatural on?

So that last episode of Supernatural I've seen while it was on air was Season 9 #15 (#THINMAN)

According to the Wikipedia page, two episodes have aired since that one. I never catch it on Tuesday night (I'm sleeping) so I end up watching on XFINITY or CW.com. CW does not show Episodes #16 or 17. I've been all around Google, and it seems like it's still airing! There are summaries up for these episodes, etc. When I ask friends at school, they can't seem to find it on their cable providers either. Is this a regional thing? WTF happened to Supernatural !!!

  • What is your definition of Fan Fiction?

I've never written fanfic before (short for fan fiction) and I'm not sure if my idea qualifies.

I want to write a zombie story but seriously can't come up with anything on my own. I thought I had an original idea until I saw World War Z which had portrayed my ideas even better than I invisioned doing myself...

My zombie story plans to have a cure simular to the one in 'World War Z' people simular to those in the video game 'The Last of Us' but ultimately living in a world with zombies that act as those in 'The Walking Dead.' Does this make my story fanfiction? Or is it just fiction?

  • First Time job hunting- plenty of questions?

I'm job hunting for the first time and have already found some employers that look great (I qualify, locations, etc.)

I'm planning on submitting my resume to these places over the next few weeks in the hopes of getting a job for the Summer!

    Additional Info:

    Still in high school

    Qualify to work with children

Will be applying mostly to day cares

As far as my resume goes, what more can I add? Like I said, I have no experience, this will be my first job. So far I've added my level of education, qualifications, community service relating to childen and extra curricular. Is it appropriate to add interests and activities, what I do in spare time?

I also have questions pertaining to a cover letter. I'm using this template: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/61454467/Resume-Cover-...

It seems like it will be pretty repetitive when it comes to qualifications and skills. Maybe this is where I should put my activities?

As far as wording, spelling, etc. I think I'll do pretty well, but any pointers in diction or word choice would be nice. I keep using the words exited, enthusiastic, aspiring, and can't find any synonyms I favor, lol.

Also, I'm responding mostly by internet, but if I were to go to a business, how should I aproach them? Should I call first? How about my interview? How should I act?

So eager to work yet so afraid!

  • Disassembling my laptop?

More specifically, it is a Dell Inspiron 1501.

Last weekend (Friday) I went to turn it on, and it started to beep and not from the speakers. At the same time, the screen was black. Not even as much as an error screen!

I took it to Best Buy, hoping to get some advice, since I bought it from them, but they refused me- they'd only help if I paid $80, which would not even fix it, it would just tell me what's wrong. I thought that was absurd, and I would've just let them fix it, but it would have cost me $400... so I just bought a new laptop (am using it now) since I've had that one for over 2 years and really wanted windows 8.

The only thing I'm concerned about now is my files. I'm a writer, so my whole life is on my laptop. Or was. So I was hoping someone could help me?

One of my gamer friends on facebook told me that I should try cleaning the memory. IDK what that means, and I don't think English is his first language, so maybe that is why... But at bst buy, when I turned on my laptop and it made the beeping noises, the woman behind the counter went into the back and said to her associates "That sounds like the memory, doesn't it...?" I still dk what that means.

I'm willing to try anything, really. So just throw me ideas of what to do.

Also, while disassembling my laptop, I had trouble taking off the keyboard from the motherboard.... it was connected by tapes that looked to be taping the two parts together. My laptop screws off (16 screw holes!) if that helps...

  • Witty tittle for a story/ novel?

So... I had this weird dream a few months ago and ever since I've been like, I have to write a story about this! (I hope to become one that writes novels for a living :))

Genre: Romance/ Science Fiction (To clarify, science fiction isn't always aliens. A story that uses things that could be true [leached off of true events] can be classified as science fiction.)

Plot: There is a government experiment, (I have yet to name it, help with that too?) which involves 4 pairs of highschool students from different parts of the US that have never met each other. They have legally been married and the experiment is just to see how Americans teens react to the situation compared to teens abroad with arranged marriage as their cultural belief.

This was MY dream, lol. Please, do not steal my idea, or bash it, telling me it is stupid and such. It's not like I'm going to publish it and sell millions. I may upload it online to a blog.

The person who contributes tittle I like will be credited in my blog and (if I somehow manage to publish it, yeah right, lol) on the first page of the book. :)

    Please, be witty! ^_^

  • Where can I find Sims 3 Book bags?

I'm trying to make a sims series (if you can, subscribe to my YouTube; N3ALiCiOUS) And for a few scenes in my series I need backpacks, it's in a hallway. I can always give the girls purses, but I'd really like to have a backpack. And one that actually goes on the backs of the Sims.

If you can, just send direct links please? Nothing general like, check MTS or TSR. I've looked alot already.

  • Would this adapter fit?

Please answer explaining in little detail so that I can understand, yet enough so I know what I'm doing lol

So I have a Casio CTK Keyboard, and I'm tired of buying D size batteries.

I lost my adapter when I first got it when I was like, 7 or 8, so yes, this is a very old model I have.

Underneath where I'm supposed to plug in the adapter it says: DC 9V, should I be buying a Behringer - 9V DC Power Adapter ? I'm about to order it online, I realllyyy miss playing!

Would it fit? If not, what specifications would tell me that it does fit?

I do know that DC means Direct Current and that V possibly means Volts.
