  • How to join pieces of a knitted afghan?

I was at an auction and bought a hand-knit afghan in pieces. There are 4 sections in a cable knit pattern (stockinette stitch on the sides) and each section is 12" wide by 60" long. I want to join them to make a 48 x 60 baby blanket for my new grand-daughter, who's nursery is decorated in purple and pink.

What would be the best way to join the pieces? I'm not a knitter, but can crochet a little. Obviously, I won't be able to find an exact match to the purple yarn used, so will have to find a nice pink. Or is there some way to "invisibly" join them?

    Thanks for your help.

  • What are your experiences with BIM Corporation (in Canada)?

I have some friends who are involved with BIM and they are really excited about it - although they haven't really made any money yet. But on CBC's Marketplace, they did a story on BIM and made it sound like a scam. What do you think?

  • Compare atheists and Christians?

I haven't been around here for very long, so maybe this has been asked before.

I've noticed that, for the most part, atheists are a lot more negative than people of faith. Although a few provide intelligent answers with good points in them, most just slam Christians and/or God. But very few Christians slam atheists.

It seems like an inverse proportion: # of atheists who don't use put-downs = # of Christians who do (and vice versa).

So why are atheists so negative and angry?

  • Is it just me, or is everyone less focused on Christmas this year?

I just can't seem to get excited about Christmas this year. I haven't decorated the house yet, gotten a tree, or done much shopping. I'd rather just enjoy getting together with friends or quiet evenings at home than all the "stuff" that goes with the season.

  • How do I prevent cashmere lint?

I have a sweater that is only 5% cashmere, but it sheds lint on everything! As well, pills form anywhere you rub it together, such as in the underarms. Are there any treatments to prevent this?
