8 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoDrivers who do this... Why?
OK, so you're traveling down a highway with cruise control set at 78 (when it's legal to do so) in the passing lane of a two lane highway because everybody else is doing 75 or less. You see a car in the left lane traveling at the same speed as the rest of the crowd, yet this car is the only car in the passing lane.
As you approach, the car speeds up to get out of your way (Which is polite and we thank you) but as he moves over to the right lane he speeds up so you can't pass him.
So basically this vehicle you just caught up to at 3 mph for the last 80 miles all of a sudden finds a need to speed up to the extent that you cannot pass him...
You increase your speed a few mph because you think there might be a misunderstanding but the other driver also increases his speed. Pretty soon you're both driving 88 mph. You back off because your cruise control is already set and you're not in THAT much of a hurry to get home.
My question is WHY? Why is it you can travel for an hour at one speed but when somebody comes up you feel a need to speed up to the point that you won't get passed?
I know you're out there, just please let the rest of us know what you're thinking when that happens...
3 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoWhat should I get my wife if I don't have the money I used to?
The economy has been rough (As most of you know). With Valentines coming up, I would like to treat my wife, yet I don't have the funds available that I used to...
I know she would be happy if I just painted a heart on a rock, but I would like to honor her with more than that.
Please give me some tips on something I can give her that would tell her that I love her and appreciate her AND and am thankful she is standing by me through these hard times.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated
9 AnswersValentine's Day1 decade agoVenture capital, what is the typical percentage?
I have a project that is through the research process and now have the provisional patent. I have received a very do-able quote from a company that can move me to stage one production and eventually to mass production.
My question: Is there a standard percentage VC's expect for their money? (e.g. $25,000 for 25% / $30,000 for 30%...)
This is for an injection molded product, nothing electronic, nothing technical. Just an easy to make, easy to assemble product

2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoWhat type of plastic would work best?
I am working on a patent and am in the process of developing the prototype.
The finished product will be made of plastic (Like that of a cell phone) so I want to try to make the prototype of the same. I've tried looking up the various types but any information I get is ambiguous.
My question is, what specific type of plastic would work best?
I've got some friends with machine shops, so as a last resort I could write a program and have them make the prototype for me but I would rather make it in my garage and not involve too many people yet.
4 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoHow much is my coin worth?
I recently came across an old silver dollar that was given to me as a kid... It's from 1896 and still has allot of detail of the eagle on the back and the woman's hair on the front so it's not worn, but it is dirty.
Is this worth anything?
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts1 decade ago1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Ext cab, is this a typical air conditioner problem for this truck?
I just bought a used 1500 and drove it out through Arizona this past week. In doing so I noticed that air conditioner will stop blowing from the dash vent.
What I have been able to figure out is that somehow, the air duct divertor re-directs the air from the dash vents to the defrost vents for about 30 seconds, then puts it right back to the dash vents.
Before I bought this truck, I test drove another of the same model and year and it did the same thing too. Only that time I didn't try to figure it out, I just didn't buy that one.
So my question is, is this a common problem for this truck?
Any thoughts on a fix? I'm not a trained mechanic, but I have been timkering with cars since I was 14 (About 30 years now) so I'm pretty good at repairs.
Any advice you can give would be helpful.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWill a 10.25" rear end fit in my '93 F150?
I have a 1993 F150. My rear end went out and I need to replace it. (8.8")
I was able to find a 10.25" with 3.55's for cheap (Came out of a 87-91 F350), but I don't know if it's a bolt in replacement or if I will need to modify.
Does anybody know?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDodge question - Will a 4 bbl intake manifold off a 360 bolt up to a 318?
I have an '86 Dodge W150 Power Wagon with a 318. Right now The 2 bbl carb and manifold set up does not give me enough power so I was thinking about switching to a 4 bbl carb and manifold set up. Will it drop in and bolt up? Also, will this swap affect the vacuum hose routing?
4 AnswersDodge1 decade agoMy truck does not start in park, but starts in Neutral... What's the deal?
I have a 1986 Dodge D150 4x4, 318 w/ automatic trannie.
It won't start in park, but if you put it in neutral, it'll fire right up. I can drive it around with no problems, shifts perfectly.
To fix this, should I start in the steering column or on the trans? Is there any connection I should check first?
Or should I just leave it and call it theft deterrent? (I know, I know, being an '86 D150 is deterrent enough)
Any help you can offer would be... Helpful.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat did GM do to the quad 4 to chop down the HP?
I know that in '93, the quad 4 was rated at 180 hp. In '94 it was rated at 175 hp and in 95, it was down to 170 hp.
I'm curious to know what they did to bring down the hp.
Was it a simple exhaust re-tuning? Chip programming? Different cam?
I'm asking because I have a chance to buy a '95 Beretta with a quad 4 and am thinking if it's something bolt on, I may just go ahead and get it then re-gain the lost hp.
Yeah, I know many believe the Beretta is crap, but I have decided to buy one anyways, either this one or another.
3 AnswersOther - Car Makes1 decade agoDoes the rear end of a '97 F150 bolt up to a '93 F150?
I just bought a '93 F150 with a differential that is blown out (Previous owner said it had been leaking but never replaced any fluid). I found a guy who is parting out his '97 F150. Before I go all the way out there, I was wondering if this is going to be a straight bolt on repair or do I need to keep looking?
Thanks
5 AnswersFord1 decade agoDana 44 gears, would they fit in pretty much any differential housing?
I just bought an F-150 for cheap, and then found out why. As the tow truck was loading it, I saw the rear differential twist, then clunk, then twist again (u-joint on the differential started to point up towards the bed, then went back to the normal position) and the rear tires locked up. The tow truck dragged it the rest of the way. When I dropped it off, it rolled easy in reverse though.
So, now the truck is at my friends shop and I just happened to find dana 44 gearing.
Not knowing if I have a dana, 8.8 or 9" rear end, I have to ask, should I go ahead and get the gearing? Won't it just pop right into ANY differential housing?
I work on cars myself, but certain things I will not touch... anything with gearing, being the main one.
Thanks for your help.
Oh, it's a '93 F-150 Ext. cab w/ in-line 6 and a 5 speed trans, bone stock.
5 AnswersFord1 decade agoPutting together a business plan, where can I find research data?
I've got everything else covered but am having trouble finding research data. My business is in inventory management... That is helping other small to mid sized business get a handle on their inventory issues. Unfortunately, I cannot find any sites with reliable research data for market analysis and growth. I know some of the key competition is Price-Waterhouse and RGIS, but even these sites don't offer any insight. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
