Taking a loan to pay off credit cards?
Between my wife and myself we have around $7,000 of credit and personal loan debt. I think I can get a loan that has a better interest rate than all of them, and use the money to pay them all off and get it into one easy low(er) payment. Is this advisable? Is there a better way to go about it? I plan to have it all paid off in about a year and a half to two years.
At the moment I'm not struggling to pay or anything, but I think this would probably make it cheaper and easier. I am planning to sell my house in about two years so i need to get out of debt and build a small finance cushion to take any losses the house would cause. I am expecting small losses, not short sale, but closing costs.
Advice or experience?
Personal Finance5 years agoHow well will this laptop perform?
I m trying to get my wife a personal laptop for Christmas. So far this one is my favorite. She wants a disc drive, backlit keyboard, and touch screen. She plays games, but nothing too demanding. Her favorites are Undertale, Minecraft and Pokemon emulators. She also does some semi professional art. I just want to see what you guys think. Will this one do the job? Budget is about 350.
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks5 years agoWhat is this hole in my foot?
It's been there about 9 months now, it's not showing any signs of closing up. It's about 1 mm wide, circular, 1 mm deep on the bottom of my heel. No discoloration. It throbs a bit. Sometimes it hurts when I put pressure on it, but hurts the most when I've had pressure on it for a while and I take the pressure off.

3 AnswersAir Travel6 years agoDoes feminism recognize the differences between men and women?
Does feminism seek to overcome differences, or simply ignore them? How "equal" do feminists want everything to be.
Personally, I believe that people should be evaluated based on their moral character and the quality of their work. I am not asking the below questions to be rude, more as a position of devil's advocate. I want your point of view, so I would appreciate respectful answers. For what it's worth I promise I'm not a sexist.
I'm speaking from a hypothetical point of view here, so feel free to correct any wrong assumptions or generalizations that I may make. Men have higher physical potential than women, anybody would be a fool to dispute that. So, shouldn't men in blue collar jobs earn more on average? Not just on the virtue of being men, but they have a higher potential for productivity. They can work longer, and lift more. Not by a lot, and some men are lazy, while some women overachieve.
In addition to that, women tend to rely more heavily on health insurance. The point is now mostly moot because of Obamacare, but company health insurance plans put more money per person into women than they do into men. It is also a risk to hire a woman, who could become pregnant. They will demand months off, thousands of dollars in healthcare, and expect to keep their jobs.
Also, as an afterthought, what is your opinion on "equal rights equal fights"?
Thank you.
7 AnswersGender Studies7 years agoAre there any appropriate romance mangas with a male main character not in high school?
Not that it needs to be entirely clean, but I really don't get much out of fanservice. I really would like to read something with more of a story. I liked the last bits of Kimi no Iru Machi and Suzuka, it's more realistic than all the "kawaii desu desu sempai notice me" crap. Supernatural is okay I suppose, but I would prefer not. Half and Half is probably my favorite so far. I know, I only mentioned Seo works. I am a fan of Kouji Seo.
Reccomendations? Thank you in advance.

2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoShould I switch from Verizon Contract to T-Mobile Pre-paid?
It's going to be about $300 to cancel the contract, but my phone bill is going to be cut in half, so after about a year I'll be saving money. My phone got destroyed a couple days ago, and I will be getting a Lumia 521 if I switch. I live in Suffolk, VA. Any advice or testimonies for T-Mobile?
The plan I'm going to be on is a walmart exclusive $30 per month for Unlimited text and data, 100 minutes talk. Also, if anybody knows of an even cheaper plan, because I barely use Data or text, maybe 100MB and 200 texts a month, but I do need a smart phone. What would be the cheapest way for me to go? Thanks.
2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans7 years agoShould I sell, or ship?
I'm moving on military orders from California to Virginia, and they won't pay to ship my car. My wife and I aren't willing to drive separately. I have two cars.
A 2008 Focus with 100,000 miles and no major problems, I owe ~7,000 on it. We got it in December. Most likely driving this one to VA ourselves.
A 2000 Nissan Maxima with 150,000 miles, has had about $1,000 of repairs in the last year, and is now leaking again, and stutters regularly when starting. Somewhat unreliable.
Anyways, I have an offer to ship the Maxima for $1,100. I have an offer to sell the Maxima for $1,500.
Should I sell the thing and pick up another beater in VA, or should I just ship it? I haven't been able to find anything as good as the Maxima for under $2,000. Should I just suck it up and drive separately? Or should we go out of pocket and ship that piece of junk? We will need 2 cars there.
10 AnswersBuying & Selling7 years agoWhat's a good first handgun?
I'm going to buy a gun in a few months. I have very limited experience with firearms. I am Navy enlisted, so I have all the safety training, I am pretty familiar with the military issue M9. I like it, but I don't love it. My dad has a glock, and I don't like those. No safety and too heavy. I'm considering getting a shotgun as well, but I have basically no experience with those. What's your advice and reccomended/favorite guns?
11 AnswersHunting7 years agoMy cat bit me, hard?
He's about a year old, neutered, indoor cat. He is extremely friendly, and he wasn't showing any signs of aggressive behavior when he did it. Sometimes he chews on my fingers to be friendly, but it wasn't a friendly bite. I was sitting in a chair, and he was rubbing his body on my head, walking on the back of the chair, then he just bit me hard on the shoulder. He wouldn't let go for maybe a second or two. I put him on the ground, and started petting him, and he was purring and being nice. Then we walked over to my wife and bit her on the arm, just as hard. This baffles me, why would he do that? He's never done it. He is almost dog-like in his friendliness. He loves us.
5 AnswersCats7 years agoCan men receive child support?
Being in the Navy, I hear tons of horror stories about men getting divorced, and most of the time it was the woman that cheated. But in almost every case the woman gets child support, alimony, and sometimes even half of the man's retirement that he served 20 years to earn.
It seems like dudes mostly get screwed, while slutty gold diggers walk away with boatloads of cash. I know this isn't the case every time, and servicemembers have been known to tell tall tales. But it seems that in the majority of cases, a divorce ruins the servicemember's life, and sends the civillian away free and happy.
10 AnswersMarriage & Divorce7 years agoAm I the only one that thinks a bi-partisan system is outdated?
It's either one way or the other, when there really are infinite ways to look at our ever growing list of problems. Republican or Democrat? Liberal or Conservative? Screw that, just believe what you believe based on the evidence you can gather. Don't let a party tell you what to think.
3 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWhy is everybody so hung up on the fact that Bowe Bergdahl is a suspected deserter?
Isn't there something in America called "Innocent until proven guilty"?
I'm not a supporter of the trade by any means. It shows the enemy that our administration is weak, and can be manipulated by the threat of violence. But the trade isn't a bad trade because Bergdahl is a deserter. That shouldn't be weighed at all.
He needs to stand a fair court martial, and be held accountable for his actions. But just because he is suspected of going AWOL we condemn him? That is un-American.
14 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWhy are so many people asking if they are pregnant on Yahoo?
Is it lack of sexual education in school? Perhaps it could be parental laziness. Skimming through all of these "Am I pregnant?" questions can be a bit amusing. These young girls seem to have very little knowledge of how exactly one becomes pregnant. It seems a bit pathetic that people are having sex without even knowing what the result might be. Or even how to do it.
I am not exaggerating when I say scrolling down the All Categories page, at least 10% of questions involve somebody's period. Maybe women under 17 should have to click through a slideshow that briefly details exactly how periods and pregnancy works before they are allowed to post to Yahoo Answers.
What is your enlightened opinion on the subject, my fellow answerers?
