  • What are my chances for HSSE at UCLA as transfer?

I am currently in my sophomore year at a small private school but I am planning on transferring to UCLA's H.S. school of engineering. I am a physics major at my college. I have already taken Calc I, II, and currently taking Calc III. I have taken Calc Based physics I & II, and I am currently taking chemistry and Optics/modern physics and a couple more classes. My overall GPA is at 3.66. Should I bother applying or no? Thanks!

  • How would you evaluate this Integral?

    ∫(2-x)/(x^2+5x)

I just need help starting, you do not need to show all the work or answer. Thank you!

  • Do Physics majors cover everything from Introductory Physics courses again?

I am a freshman in college and I am a Physics major. Right now I am taking the required introductory calculus-based Physics I and II, courses. However, I feel like the Professor isn't going over the whole book, and I also feel like I might be forgetting some things with time. So my question is, do we go over all of the topics covered in an introductory course in more depth later on (eg. kinematics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, etc.). Thank you.

  • Universities with good Physics programs?

Hello I am currently a freshman in college in southern california but I am planning on transferring to another university out of state. My GPA for my first semester of college (With Calculus based Physics and Calculus) was a 3.94. So I was wondering what are great schools with Physics programs? I am planning on applying to Cornell, but not sure where else. I have a preference for liberal schools (not liberal arts), and that are located somewhat near the forest/woods; not too much in the city. Thank you!

  • What are the exact steps needed to become an airline pilot?

It has been my lifelong dream becoming one! Anyway, I am currently 18 and a freshman in college (studying Physics). I was planning on continuing on to grad school because I love the subject, however my old love was recently brought up, and that was flying. I have always wanted to be a pilot for as long as I could remember. My parents are constantly telling me to stay away from that, but I really want to do it. So what exactly should I do now while I am in college? Thank you!

  • Is it possible to become a congressman without being a lawyer?

I am currently attending college as a Physics and Mathematics major, and I plan to continue on to get my PhD in Physics after college. However, I do have an interest in politics, and I have been considering what it would be like to be a representative in the House. Could it be done? What are the disadvantages? Thank you!

  • Computer repair shop didn't repair laptop?

2 months ago, I turned on my toshiba satellite ( 2 years old) and the screen did not turn on. I took it to a computer repair shop close to my home so that they could fix it. They told me it had to do with the motherboard so they would replace it. It took two months until I got my laptop back, and they charged $200.00. So I took it home and then I noticed that the USB drives did not work. So I took it back, and I had to wait another 2 weeks, but they gave me a temporary laptop. Finally i got it back last week, and then yesterday, the same problem I had two months ago happened again. I called yesterday to tell them, and they said they are gonna just get me a new laptop. However, I am concerned because I really liked my current laptop, and I am not sure if they are going to get a second-hand laptop. Should I just ask for my money back and take it to see if they can fix it elsewhere? What should I do? Thank you.

  • Feeling discouraged about majoring in Physics?

I am a freshman in college and my first semester is ending in a couple of weeks. I am planning on majoring in Physics because it just absolutely fascinates me and I love it so much. However I have been feeling a bit discouraged lately partly because of my grade, and also because of the contemplation of future courses. I am currently taking Calculus-Based Physics I (Mechanics) and I have a solid B (2 exams remaining). However I feel as though this is not good enough; I have the idea in my head that the best Physicists are complete geniuses in their field and always excelled. I am doing well in my calculus class though, which is helping my morale slightly. But I still do not feel as though I am made for the field; should I stick with it? Will future courses become more difficult? Thank you!

  • How to properly cite this type of source?

I am writing a brief commentary and I am bringing information from a textbook in to support my opinion. However in the textbook (anthropology book), there is a statement from the American Anthropological Association. At the end of the statement it has parentheticals that look like this (Passed on February 26, 2004, and posted on the AAA website www.aaanet.org). Question: Do I simply use those parentheticals for the in-text citation, or do I still use the textbook author's last name and page? Thank you!

  • Should I become a Physicist?

I am currently a freshman in College and I am taking calc-based physics along with calculus...I absolutely love Physics and math! Physics interests me very much and I would like to pursue it. However a lot of my friends and family are pushing me to do engineering since it is quicker and the pay is good. But like I said, I love Physics and I have spoken with the Professor at my school about it and he would be my advisor. I have also spoken with the French Professor and she wants me to double major, which I definitely think I can do, in French and Physics. What benefits would go with this? After I graduate, what would be in store for a Physics major? Thank you so much!

  • Should I transfer or continue with Physics degree?

I am a freshman in college and I am currently facing a dilemma. My school is a small liberal arts college, but I barley realized a couple months ago that I really wanted to do engineering. However, I also love Physics. I recently found out that I could obtain a degree in Physics and then go to an engineering graduate school. But I am not sure on what to do...I want to also double major; so if I stay here, I will double major in French and Physics. But I am also thinking about transferring to an engineering school to get my BS in just 4 years. What should I do I am not sure at all? Thanks!

  • I hit my forehead pretty hard and have headaches?

About 3 days ago, I slipped and fell and hit my forehead pretty hard on the wooden post of my bed. I went to sleep thinking nothing about it and woke up the next day with a strong headache, but it went away as the day progressed. However each day after I have been getting mild-moderate headaches in the front of my forehead, especially when I am being physically active. I have no nausea or confusion, just the headaches. What should I do? Thanks.

  • How do you politely ask people to leave your dorm?

This is my first week in college and I have made friends, and a couple of them are always in my dorm, just chilling, but it is annoying because both of them are each other's roommates and they like my dorm better; how do i ask them to leave? They are really nice/cool but they are ALWAYS here and I have no privacy. They lie on my bed without asking and dirty my stuff and it is annoying. What exactly do I tell them?

  • If I drive to a UPS store will they give me a package?

I recently ordered something and it was to be shipped via UPS. However since it is Saturday it will not come to me til next week. However through the online tracker I saw that it was last dropped off at a city close-by to me, and coincidentally I am going to be there later today, so I figured if I could just pick it up? Will they let me pick it up? At the location that it states on the tracking website, is it a UPS store or a whole different facility? Thanks!

  • Is this a hard schedule for freshman year in college?

I have selected four classes for my freshman year in college this fall. The first one is a freshman writing seminar. The second is intro to psychology (Psych 100). (I took AP Psychology last year and I am waiting for the results, but it seemed easy). My last two classes are Math 139A (Integrated Precalculus and Calculus), and Physics 150 (Calculus based physics). Do you think it is OK to take both math and science? I love Physics and took an introductory physics course last year as well as Honors Math Analysis (Precalc.) last year too. Does this seem OK? Thanks :)
