What kind of dog do you think this is?

We adopted a puppy and are curious as to what kind of dog he might be and how big he may get. He was found dumped on the side of the road so we have no clue about his parents or previous owners. The vet said he would guess he was a shitzu yorkie mix and that he is probably around 10 weeks old. He weighs about 5 lbs. I know we will never know for sure but it's fun to guess so tell me what you think.

  • jaw pain after injury. Does this sound like a possible fracture?

While trying to put my dog in a harness for a run earlier he jerked his head upward into my lower jaw. He s a big dog and when it happened it hurt bad enough to lay me on the floor with tears in my eyes. There was no cracking or popping sound or anything that made me immediately think this was an emergency situation however a few hours have passed and the pain is still very intense. It hurts to speak or swallow. I still have full range of motion but it is painful to open my mouth even a little bit. Could this be a fracture or something serious? Or is it more likely just badly bruised? Any good recommendations for at home treatment assuming it isn t serious?

  • Opinions on possible pregnancy?

I began having flu symptoms right around my last ovulation cycle and by the time my period should have come around I was in the middle of the full flu. I took a pregnancy test at 5 days past my missed period and it was negative. I read online that the flu can cause you to skip a cycle but I'm now 16 days late and feeling worried that the test may have been wrong. The only possible symtom I've had is slightly tender breasts while with my daughters I had major symptoms from very early on. What do you guys think? Is it more likely I missed a cycle or had a false negative test?

  • Questions about adult braces without insurance?

I'm going in for a second consultation with an orthodontist about having braces put on. I'm 24 and have needed braces for years but couldn't afford them. I however just found out that my insurance is not going to cover any portion so I will have to pay entirely out of pocket. The office said that they will take a down payment and work with me on a payment plan. My question is for anyone else who has been through this same situation, What was your total cost? What was your down payment? I want to go into this appointment as prepared as possible so any advice at all is very much appreciated.

  • New dog acting aggressive towards cats?

Last week we adopted a 7 month old pit bull. His previous owner said he was excellent with children and other dogs but had never been around cats. We have had our three cats for almost 2 years now and they are wonderful cats but a little territorial. So the dog has done very well with us and our children he is very well behaved but he isn't warming up to the cats. He is crate trained and we keep him in his crate anytime we can't be watching him. When ever a cat walks into the room he will bark loudly and lunge at the cage door trying to get out. I have him scheduled to be neutered and begin obedience classes next month but I'm looking for any other advice for getting him to understand that the cats are not a threat/prey. I'm really committed to doing whatever possible to make this work out. We would all be heartbroken to lose any one of our animals.

  • Student loan for dental work?

I have been extremely fortunate in receiving enough grant money to pay for my tuition and books with out having to take out a student loan. But a friend of mine recently took one out to pay for her braces and I was considering doing the same. I desperately need them and it would be so nice to get them before I graduate. I have heard mixed things though. One person told me that I would risk losing all financial aid for spending loan money on something not related to my education. Is that true? I am already well aware of the risks associated with student loans and would never accept one on a whim just wanting to see if anyone on here knows how strict they truly are when it comes to what you can spend your loan money on.

  • Boxer puppy tail docking?

I recently adopted a boxer puppy. He is NOT full blooded but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at him. He didn't have his tail docked and people keep asking me when I'm going to get it done. I've read about the reasons some people do dock boxers and I sort of understand why someone would (it seems excessive to me but I understand why) I just wonder if it is something I should even consider since my pup is a mix breed?

  • Let me tell you about Mitt Romney?

He's so pathetic. Let me tell you something about Mitt Romney. We were best friends in middle school. I know, right? It's so embarrassing. I don't even... Whatever. So then in eighth grade, I started going out with my first boyfriend Obama who was totally gorgeous but then he became the President, and Romney was like, weirdly jealous of him. Like, if I would blow him off to go vote for Obama, he'd

be like, "Why didn't you vote for me?" And I'd be like, "Why are you so obsessed with me?" So then, for my birthday party, which was an all-democrats pool party, I was like, "Romney, I can't invite you, because I think you're republican." I mean I couldn't have a republican at my party. There were gonna be democrats there in their *bathing suits*. I mean, right? He was a REPUBLICAN. So then his mom called my mom and started yelling at her, it was so retarded. And then he dropped out of school because no one would talk to him, and he came back in the fall for this election, all of his hair was cut off and he was totally weird, and now I guess he's on crack.

  • Parents posting nasty things on line?

I am a member of a private facebook group for parents in my area. I really love the group, it's a great place to vent, get advice or set up play dates with other local moms. Well lately there have been some problems with information that was posted on the site being taken and twisted into nasty rumors on an anonymous web forum. We know it has to be a member of the group but have no way of knowing who. It is a relatively small group less than 100. What we need are ideas for how to make our group back into the safe haven it was. Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated!

  • Giving 4 month old cows milk?

I know Doctors do not recommend giving cows milk until 1 year but I am in a bit of a quandary. I went to the store and bought formula but accidentally left it in the car. We only have one vehicle and my husband left for work and can't be back for about 11 more hours. I have absolutely NO money to go buy more and the closest relative I can call for help is over an hour away. I am debating just giving her whole milk for tonight. She is 4 months old and has not had any digestive problems with her formula which is milk protein based. What are you opinions? Also my other daughter had milk occasionally at 6 months with no issues.

  • Please help I think I killed my daughters bunny?

My daughter has a neatherland dwarf and it is laying on its side breathing and occasionally trying to kick its legs but when I tried to help it stand up it just flops back down. I had recently started giving it carrots and lettuce because it seemed very thin. Before it had been eating rabbit pellets and alfalfa hay. The vets office is closed already. Is there anything I can do? Is there any chance she can be saved at this point?

  • would having a restraining order filed against a person on parole violate their parole?

I filed a restraining order against my ex for stalking and threatening me. It was granted by the judge. He was on parole and I didn't know if just having the order filed would violate his parole?

  • Bumbo recall makes no sense!?

Am I the only one who feels like this recall is a little absurd? The majority of if not all of the injuries occurred due to complete negligence of the parents. How could you even for a second think that leaving your baby unattended on an elevated surface would be safe because your child was sitting in a seat where your child is not secured in any way? Complete stupidity man!

  • Who do you think is going to win the presidential election?

    Obama or Romney

I'm not asking who you want to win but who you honestly think will win.

I really see Obama winning it but want to know what everyone else thinks

  • 37 weeks and baby's head is engaged in 3rd pregnancy?

I know usually the baby doesn't drop in subsequent pregnancies until shortly before labor begins so I'm wondering if any one else has experienced this in a second or third pregnancy? How long was the baby "engaged" before you went into labor?

I had my last daughter at exactly 37 weeks and I've been having lots and lots of braxton hicks contractions. I'm getting anxious to have this pregnancy over with so I could be reading to much into this lol

  • If my kids are allergic to our dog do we have to get rid of him? Are there other options?

My daughters are having some nasty allergy symptoms.

    Itchy watery eyes

    runny nose

    coughing spells

and we are worried that it could be related to our new dog.

They have an apt with the doctor tomorrow morning but I was wondering if anyone knew what happens if your children do have a pet allergy?

Is getting rid of the dog a must? Or if it isn't a severe allergy can they be prescribe a medication to get rid of their symptoms?

  • Does pregnancy make you stupid?

I feel like a moron! In the last few weeks I've been losing everything! I'm a forgetful person and losing stuff is nothing new but I can usually find it pretty quickly. My wallets been missing for weeks! I had to call and cancel all my cards and have new ones mailed. It seems like every day something else disappears. I feel like someone is playing a really mean joke on me or something.

Does anyone else go through this?

I'm surprised I haven't lost one of my kids yet!

  • My husband found two baby moles. What do we do with them?

My husband found two baby moles in a tub that got shipped into his work, he says they are about an inch and a half long and covered in velvety brown fur. Should he just let them go? Will they be able to survive on their own or should be bring them home and try to nurse them till they are older? Would you feed them puppy/kitten milk replacement?

  • Vasectomy vs Tubal ligation?

My husband and I are discussing which is the better option. My main concern is cost, which I know varies some depending on where you live. My husband has insurance but I don't. Does any one know the basic cost of either procedure with or without insurance? And does anyone have experience or opinion on one vs the other? Thanks
