Writing a story: What happens to your things if you go to prison?
I'm writing a fiction story and my MC's father is sent to prison for several years-life and eventually dies in prison. They grew up on the road so the only possession he had of significance at the point of arrest was a car. Since the MC is a minor I assumed it wouldn't go to her but my idea is to have it either go to her after he dies (or lung cancer) or when she turns 18. Is that how that works? Would the government hold a car in an impound lot or auction it off or just give it to the minor anyways? BTW, it's set in Maine, if that helps, but the crimes were committed in many different states, so it would probably be considered federal level crimes. Thanks.

Like if you find a picture on google or whatever that you really like but you didn't draw/photograph/edit yourself would it be socially acceptable in the tumblr community to set it as your profile pic?
1 AnswerOther - Entertainment7 years agoWhat are good free video editors?
I'm getting sick of Windows Movie Maker 'cause it's kinda crappy, but I don't have $200 dollars to spend on a program. Does anyone know any free, decent, legal video editors?
4 AnswersSoftware7 years agoAre combat boots any good in the winter?
I'm thinking about saving up a bit of money to get some decent combat boots, but I live in Minnesota and it's almost winter. So I guess my questions i whether or not they generally have any sort of protection against cold and whether snow would ruin them.
5 AnswersFashion & Accessories8 years agoWhat is a nerdfighter and who is John Green?
Okay, so I've been on Tumblr, I'm a pretty big fangirl, and so I've seen gifs of John Green's face and I've heard of his books, etc. But I've just started watching his vids on youtube, which has shown me just how much I don't know. So I need the quick and dirty run through on John Green, his video series, this Hank guy he keeps talking about, nerdfighters, and anything else on the subject I should know. Thanks :)
2 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoHow to validate my copy of Windows?
I bought a laptop a couple of months ago with a copy of Windows 7 Professional. But a couple of days ago I got a message saying my copy isn't genuine and they want me to buy a new one. Being the broke college student that I am, I don't have $150 laying around for a new copy. How do I make my copy genuine, or prove that it is, or get a new one? No illegal copies, please, because that was my brother's idea and I want to avoid that.
3 AnswersOther - Computers8 years agoIs it okay for Christians to be empaths?
I'm a Christian, but I also believe I might be an empath. But I don't know if my faith allows me to believe in such a thing or if it's healthy to delve deeper into it. I'd like to use any empathic abilities I might have to help people, and I'd like to know more about myself, but I don't want to open myself up to demonic influence. Does anyone know if this is a spiritual gift or a demonic one? Can anyone show me scriptures that might help?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow long can the police keep property?
My brother got in trouble for stealing information from school computers and the police took his tablet for in case they decided to press charges. He's been expelled for a month now and we haven't heard that they plan on pressing charges. When we asked for the tablet back they said that they were still using it. We're moving out in June and I'd really like to have it back. How long do the police in the state of Michigan have to decide whether or not to press charges and return the device?
