  • Macbook is connecting to the network but unable to connect to websites.?

I have a macbook pro and it is not able to connect to the internet. This is NOT a local network issue as it is happening on every network I connect to.

Here is what I have done so far:

    * Deleted every plist file I thought had anything to do with network connections

    * Held down opt+cmd+p+r during boot to reset some memory functions

    * Checked that proxy settings were disabled

    * Tried connecting to a proxy server

When I am in Chrome, it gives me a message that is is "Unable to resolve the server's DNS address" (both the "DNS Servers" and "Search Domains" have something in them that I recognize).

    I have an IP address.

Any suggestions would help, but please dont tell me to reset router, modem, etc.

  • Hard drive bad...maybe?? Bad HDD controller?

I built my system about 5 months ago. Everything was working fine until one day I got the dreaded blue screen. I bring it to my computer guy and they tell me my hard drive is bad, so they install a new hard drive. I get it back, start it up, everything seems to be working fine but then my hard drive (the newly installed one) starts making a noise like it is going bad and my computer freezes up. I bring it back and they tell me I had some corrupted system files but that the hard drive was working fine. I bring it home and once again I have the same issue. Prior to all this happening I had an illegal copy of windows installed. Now I purchased Vista from tigerdirect and I am having the same issue.

    Here is what I have:

    EVGA nforce 780i SLI mobo

    XFX GeForce 9800 GTX video

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum sound card

    OCZ SLI PC6400 DDR2 800MHz 8gb total

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66Ghz CPU

I would bring my system back by I am loosing confidence in them and spending enough money where I am thinking about just rebuilding my system. Help please!!!

  • My computer drive stopped working and now my computer wont boot, what is the problem?

I have 2 hard drives in my computer. One I use for media, the other i use for programs and operating system. The hard drive I use for media stopped working today and now my computer won't boot up. I see the windows logo with the progress bar thing underneath, then I get a blue screen and before I can read it my computer restarts. I tried safe mode almost everything. I read something that made me think this is a virus...if it is how do I get rid of it WITHOUT starting new. I have a serious amount of class work that I CANNOT delete. Also, the hard drive that is not working is unplugged.

  • DVD/ROM drive reads movies dvds but not game dvds?

I just rebuilt my computer, using xp pro now. I kept my old dvd/cd drive, which is an NEC ND 3550A. I can play movie dvds, can load programs from regular cd rom, but I put a game (data) dvd in and nothing happens. Try to look at the contents and still nothing. What is going on?

  • General Protection Fault when installing Windows XP Pro on new built system?

I have a built computer which I am in the process of upgrading. I am trying to install windows on a brand new hard drive (I do NOT have another hard drive with windows on it) and it is giving me the following error: TRAP 0000000D ==========General Protection Fault =========

And then a whole bunch of numbers and letters that would probably make sense to someone, but they dont to me.

    Here are my specs:

    eVGA nForce 780i mobo

    Seagate 750 gb hard drive

    BFG geforce 9400 gt

    intel core 2 quad 2.66

    8GB ddr2 ram

Any suggestions would be of serious help. I have been on more forums and help links than you can think of and nothing has worked. Please I am open for all suggestions.
