What does it mean when someone strokes the bridge of your nose several times? I met a celebrity who was from Scotland and upon introducing myself, she took her fingertip and tapped my nose. Is this a gesture in Scotland that has it's own meaning?

I know it likely sounds like I'm playing with fire, but I never met my grandmother (dad's mom) and have this unquenchable curiosity about her. I didn't meet my father until about 2 years ago, and by the time i contacted him my grandma had already been dead for a year from cancer. I've been told bits and pieces about her, but it still doesn't suffice.. Although I never met her, most of my family claims that I take after her, and from the very few photos i have seen of her, I see an undeniable resemblance. I have her eyes, nose, chin, and cheekbones, it's like looking in a mirror seeing myself 20 years from now. Looking at the photographs, there's a look in her eyes that's almost beckoning, a part of her that's missing or incomplete. I want so much to see a sign, or hear her voice at least once.. Is there a chance I'll get an answer, even in the most subtle form, or because of death, is she totally deafened to my voice?

I've never liked my appearance, starting with the ghostly skin and mousy brown hair. My most embarrassing feature is a bad overbite, I know I seriously need braces, but that will have to wait until I can afford them. I know some of us aren't endowed with natural good looks, but what is the best way to use what I have to my advantage? The only redeeming quality about my appearance is not being overweight. I'm unsure about using makeup because I don't want it to clog my pores. Helpful feedback only, please. My self esteem is already at an all time low due to non stop bullying, please don't comment unless you have helpful tips on how to make the best with what I was born with.

I have one of the older game systems, Super Nintendo. One of my favorite vid games on it is Zelda: a link to the past. It's been a long time since I've played it, trying to refresh my memory. One thing I can't seem to remember, which buttons on the game controller do I push to select the items in the tool tray? For example, you start out with a few items, like the lantern and boomerang, etc. Can someone tell me which buttons to push to pull up the menu of the items to select from?

So.. I just moved into a new apt. Obviously furniture is in short supply so I'm sleeping on an air mattress until I can get a regular mattress. Anyway, this means I have to keep my two cats out of the bedroom so they don't puncture the air mattress, keeping my door shut. One of the cats, Gremlin, keeps me up all night meowing and scratching at the bedroom door. Every morning I wake up to freshly shredded carpeting in front of the door, which will likely result in a hefty repair bill from the apartment maintenance, as I was told upfront by the office staff when I applied for the apt that there would be penalties to cover the costs of repair if pets damage the carpeting. What is the solution? I invested in a nice, $65 cat tower/scratching post he won't make use of!

We're moving to an apartment complex that allows up to two cats (we have three) and I'm having the toughest time deciding which one to give up.. It's like choosing between your kids. Generally speaking, are there any apartment complexes that will give any leeway, even if it means adding extra to our rent? Or is the pet policy unbinding and set in stone.. I've known some people in apartment complex where there's only one or two pets allowed and they have three or four.. Is there a way I can still have all three of my cats without having to pick which one to give up?

About 5 days ago, this stray cat who's been coming to my front porch followed me into the house and made herself at home. I love cats and she is a very sweet cat, but my mom and I are planning to move sometime early in June. We took the cat to the vet and he says she is 5 or 6 weeks pregnant!! The timing couldn't be any worse. We asked the vet if it's safe to have the pregnancy terminated and he says the farther along she is, the more dangerous it can be. I know this sounds selfish, but I simply can't afford to delay this move.. This house we've been renting is going to be condemned due to termite damage. I'm really in over my head, I really didn't ask for any of this!! On top of all this, my mom has grown attached to this cat and wants to take her with us when we move.. And we've already got our own two cats we had planned on taking with us in the first place!! The apartment complex has a two cat pet policy, let alone kittens!! Even if we delayed our move, waiting for the kittens to be weaned and finding homes for them is another challenge.. What to do??

Today I was at FolkFest (it's a local thing where I live) and I was standing next to the lemonade stand, my mom and I were both wearing tie dye. Anyway, this little girl had these long sticks with styrofoam arrows attached to them.. She goes up to my mom and points them in the middle of her stomach, and them she comes to me and nearly knocks me down, pushing me in the stomach!! Could there be a reason kids dislike me? I didn't really think I look that peculiar, at first I thought it was because our tie dye shirts were making us stand out.

I was running late for work this morning, so I only had time to grab something quick for breakfast, I reached for a banana and headed out the door. After eating the banana, I started getting this severe stomachache where I nearly doubled over with stomach cramps. I still feel sick to my stomach, could this be a food allergy?

I'm making spaghetti with meat sauce tonight, and I notice that when I order spaghetti at a restaurant, the meat sauce has this fine, velvety texture.. When I attempt to make spaghetti sauce at home, as I'm browning the meat, I get these large poopy clumps of ground meat, no matter how much I try to break it up as much as possible. Any suggestions on techniques used in restaurants to attain smooth, fine textured meat sauce?

We're planning on moving in the next few months, and the house we've rented for two years is infested with cockroaches. Our landlord refuses to spray for roaches on a regular basis because of the expenses, as a result I've suffered from allergies and asthma attacks. I've tried everything to get rid of the roaches, I've kept this house clean, set up bait, boric acid, nothing works!!! The only option we have is to move, but there's a chance the cockroaches could hitch a ride in our moving boxes and repopulate our new apartment. Is there any suggestions or tips on what measures can be taken to prevent the roaches from following us?

My mom and I are moving back to our hometown in a few months, and we want to bring our two cats with us. It's a eight hour drive, and for the sake of our cats, would it be easier to try to make it there in the same day or should we stop at a pet friendly hotel for the night half way there and continue the next day? Our cats are our babies and we don't want to give them away, like a lot of people do when they move. Any tips on keeping cats calm on a long car ride?

So, I made a batch of cheddar bay biscuits for Thanksgiving dinner and we have a lot of leftover biscuits we couldn't possibly have eaten in one setting. We don't want to waste food so we saved the biscuits in a Ziploc bag. What are the best methods of reheating the biscuits without drying them out?

Last night I made stuffed cabbage rolls and wondering what is the best way to reheat leftovers? I know some ppl serve them cold, but I'm not a big fan of cold leftovers. Is it better to reheat them in the oven or the microwave? I'd like to know at what temperature and how long to reheat.

I'm not sure if a lot of people can relate to the situation I'm in, but was wondering if someone could help me understand my sister's position. I'm 21 and a year ago I found my dad and two half brothers and a half sister. I'm the oldest of my siblings and my parents split up shortly before I was born; because of my mother's mental illness, she was unable to care for me so I was raised by my mom's parents. I never knew my father growing up, and it was arranged where I had no contact with my dad's family. When I was of age to decide whether I'd like to find my dad's family, curiosity got the best of me and with the help of a friend I was able to find my father. My half brother, who is just a year younger than me, he and I have been getting along tremendously since we got in contact. My sister on the other hand, who is two years younger than me, didn't exactly welcome me with open arms as my brother did. The catch is, I haven't met my siblings or my dad yet because we live in different parts of the country. Moving onto the issue with my sister, we started out on good terms and communicated every now and then on facebook. I was mindful of giving her the time and space to come to terms with having a long lost sister, at the same time showing an interest in developing a friendship with her. In the recent months, I noticed her becoming more hostile towards me, and the last conversation I had with her, I sensed she was upset with me but I couldn't put my finger on what I did wrong. I'm very tactful and almost sure I hadn't said anything remotely offensive. Two months ago I got a nasty message from her saying she doesn't want anything to with me and shouldn't be expected to include me in her life because of ties on blood relation. She blocked me on facebook so the chances of my sister and I ever making things right doesn't sound likely. It really hurts because I care about her as a sister and would have wanted to know where I went wrong and come to a compromise rather than being removed from her life completely without explanation. I've reached out to her and offered a shoulder to cry on when she needed a friend and have been nothing but kind to her, so I'm left confused on how I failed her as a sister. Can someone give me insight on why she suddenly started hating me when I haven't said or done anything hurtful towards her? Every day it weighs on my mind and I really would like to work things out with my sister.

I have some 6 week old kittens I've been feeding Purina kitten chow. I understand dry food needs to be slightly watered down to soften it because the teeth aren't strong enough, and sometimes when I put food out for them, they don't eat all in one sitting. Is dry food that's been watered down safe to store in the fridge until their next feeding or should it be left out at room temp? Thanks!

What is the best way to tame bush eyebrows without going to the salon, as I don't really have the money to get them professionally done. I'm afraid if I pluck them myself, I'll mess my eyebrows up.

I've got kittens who are five weeks old and they like to knead and nibble into my hair like they're trying to find a place to nurse. These kittens are still with their mother and they're healthy and active, so I don't see why they're doing this. I gently pick them up and set them on the floor, but they keep climbing the couch and proceeding to nibble in my hair. How do I get them to stop because it's annoying and painful?

I'm making whole grain rice tonite, my mom loves rice but I'm not a big fan (I'm more of a potato gal myself.. I guess it's the Irish in me lol) Anyway, any suggestions to give whole grain rice some pizzazz without curry or tumeric (I'm not too crazy about hot Indian spices.. does weird stuff to my stomach)
