  • Can a doctor lie to you about terminal illness?

I had a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy as the result of a stress test. I had a cardiac MRI done a few months later. When I met with the cardiologist he started the appointment with the question: If you were dying, would you want to know?

I thought it over and told him that I wasn't sure, but probably not.

He then told me that nothing was seriously wrong other than some sinus tachycardia.

I have since been having a lot of PVCs and have been told by the same doctor that it is just stress but I can't get that first appointment out of my head.

I still think that there would be benefits to not knowing but, if I were dying, I think I'd want to pursue a few things before I go that I probably wouldn't otherwise. I certainly would change some things about my life and make some preparations.

Could he be lying to me?

Is that something they are allowed to do?

  • Do speaker wires have an inherent polarity?

When I wire my sound systems I usually use wires that have writing on one side and not on the other.

Out of habit I use the side with writing as the negative.(I know to connect positive to positive etc.)I got some wire recently that has writing on one side, as usual, but the writing is a line of plus symbols which got me thinking:

Do these wires have an inherent polarity?

I had always assumed that wires that designated one side + or - were just trying to help you remember what decisions you made while wiring but now I'm curious.

My suspicion is that, because the wires are twisted within the casing, that the curl of the copper strands could be creating a magnetic field and there is some resultant inductance occuring inside the wire that might effect the current.

There is a bit of plastic in the center of the copper spooling whose chemical composition I don't know, but it doesn't seem to have any magnetic properties so I have my doubts but I am still interested.

I'm not a complete layman, I have a couple physics S&E courses under my belt but not enough to come to a conclusion that I'd be confident in.

    Any thoughts?

  • Can I borrow an e-book from a friends kindle account?

I'm in college and a friend of mine took the course I'm taking now last semester and offered to borrow me her text book. She said she was pretty sure I could do this but is having a hard time remembering how to go about it. Any suggestions?

  • What are the laws on owning war trophies?

If you were left something from a relative who fought in ww2 and didn't know the exact nature of how your relative came into possession of this item but had a suspicion it may have been looted, possibly from a museum or private collection. Do you have the right to claim ownership, as you did not steal it or know if it was stolen? Can it be taken from you? Is it possible that you are guilty of a punishable crime just by receiving this item?

  • lump on my dogs foot?

I just noticed a large lump on the outside of my Boston/ English bull's foot. It's right off the side of the inside pad behind the toes, but not attached to the pad itself. It almost looks like an extra pad complete with callus and black spots like her other toes. My only guess is that it's a callus from friction but the placing is strange and her other foot is not effected, it doesn't seem to cause her any pain, but it worries me none the less. I'm not sure if I should be alarmed or not and with my income being fixed I would like to avoid a trip to the vet. Can anyone offer advice?

  • fallout new vegas, dead money glitch.?

I was playing dead money on the ps3 last night, saved and quit. this morning I turn it on, get a software update and now instead of loading me at the villa I pop up in Goodsprings, naked, with barely any weapons. decided to go to the Abandoned BOS Bunker and everything is gone, no radio, no books on the shelves, like the add-on was never there except now all off my stuff is gone, can I fix this somehow?
