  • Petrarchan sonnets read in movies?

Do you know any movies where a Petrarchan or Italian-style (not a Shakespearian) sonnet is read out loud? 10 points to the person who can give a movie with this. :)

  • Classic French blue paint color?

I am redecorating my bedroom and I want to do it in a French Versaille-style theme. Of course it won't be over the top but I love and am inspired by the classic, opulent, period style of design. I want the walls to be a light blue color, but I'm having difficulty deciding on the exact paint color to choose. I have decided to use Olympic Premium paint because it's an inexpensive brand that has a low VOC content. Could you recommend a specific paint color I could use that would be the shade of blue I have described? It doesn't have to be Olympic brand, because I can always look at the color chip and find a match in the Olympic paint. Note: the room is large with lots of light.

  • Are there any English-related jobs that "hot" right now?

I'm a junior in high school and I love English literature, history, art, and philosophy. However, when I hear about what jobs are going to be in high demand when I graduate from college, I always hear about jobs in medicine and science fields. I get straight A grades in all subjects, but I enjoy the arts more than the sciences. I know that with the baby-boomer generation getting older, we need more doctors etc., but I was wondering if there are any jobs in the English field that are predicted to be increasing in demand. I want to do something I enjoy, but I would like to earn around 100,000 a year or more. I don't want to end up graduating from college with a degree in something with few job prospects.

  • French question - formatting a sentence using a plural direct object pronoun in the passe compose?

I know that when you write a statement using the singular direct object pronoun in the passe compose, you would write it like this:

Je l'ai pris. (I took it) This is just an example. The L in "l'ai" is the direct object pronoun.

However, how would I write that sentence if the direct object pronoun was plural (therefore it would be "les"). Would it be

"J'ai les pris." Because then the order of the D.O. pronoun and the form of "avoir" would be switched. Or would it be "Je les ai pris." Because that obviously doesn't look right. Can someone explain this to me and tell me how you would format that sentence?

  • Mineral loose powder with sunscreen?

I am looking for a mineral loose powder with sheer/medium coverage that has a high SPF.

I have pale asian combination skin, and I am prone to breakouts in my T-zone so I don't want anything that could clog my pores.

I use liquid foundation and I thought if I set it with a mineral powder, it could give me some more coverage.

The reason I would like one with sunscreen is because I like my pale skin and don't want a tan or freckles. I do normally use a moisturizer with a sunscreen, but I get the most sun exposure later in the day, so the sunscreen is probably ineffective by then, and I can't reapply it without taking off my makeup.

I think if I had a powder with sunscreen, I could easily reapply during the day.

Anyway, do you know of any (preferably inexpensive) products that you could recommend?

  • How can I improve my violin sight-reading skills?

I am an intermediate / advanced violinist that has been playing for 8 years. To give you an idea of what level I am at, I am currently working on Saint-Saens concerto no. 3. However, my sight reading is not very good and I feel like it always trips me up in auditions. I can't sight read well on the spot if the piece I am given in the audition involves shifting or even moderately difficult rhythms. Do you know any good books on sight reading and rhythm I can get to help me become better at sight reading? I have heard that getting a bunch of music and sight reading it is the best way to learn, but I would prefer a book that has progressive exercises. I want to become an excellent sight reader, so if you know of any good books on sight reading, please recommend them! Thanks!

Also, I'm not looking for a book for early beginner sight readers, I'm more looking for something for people who are looking to become advanced sight readers (if that's even a term, lol)

  • What are the antonyms for the verb "delineate"?

Please don't put "undelineated", that is an antonym for the adjective "delineated". I just need one good antonym.

  • How can I get my podcasts to show up on my iPod?

I recently put lots of new video podcasts on my iPod and they are not showing up on my iPod even after I sync it. I have checked to see if there isn't enough space but there is lots of space on my iPod. I have also checked that the settings are on "sync all" podcasts and I have even tried selecting certain ones to see if they will sync. For some reason, although they all show up on iTunes, my iPod is only syncing a few of the podcasts. Do you know what I can do to get them all to go on my iPod? Is it just that certain podcasts don't work?

  • What does this passage in the Declaration of Independence mean?

I wonder what exactly this passage from the Declaration of Independence means.

"He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the Executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands."

I know this is one of the reasons that the colonists think that the king is a tyrant. Could you clarify what it means and what it's refering to? Thanks!

  • How can I download previous podcasts of pottercast?

I saw on mugglenet that the second part of the interview with JK Rowling on Pottercast could now be downloaded. I Downloaded it from iTunes but I couldn't find the podcast before it that had the first part of the interview. I am really interested in hearing any interview with JK Rowling so I was wondering if I could download the old podcast (number 130) from anywhere.

  • What corporations are environmentally friendly/socially concious?

My friend has a book called "The Better World Shopping Guide" and it rates corporations from "A" to "F" for how good they are in terms of how environmentally concious they are and how they treat workers. I was wondering if there is a website that has information on what are good corporations to support when buying products and what companies I should not support by buying products from.

  • Can you recommend a good eye cream?

I am a teenager so I obviously don't have wrinkles, but I would like to start using an eye cream. I would prefer a natural one that is moisturizing and not "firming" or "lifting" because I don't need that. Could you recommend a good (preferably inexpensive) one?

  • Is safe to put liquids in check in bags? (I'm afraid they'll leak)?

I am flying to Ireland in a few days and I want to bring my perfume and foundation. Both of these are relatively expensive and I know I can't bring liquids on my carry-on. The last time I flew I got little travel bottles and put shampoo and conditioner in them. They leaked almost all of the contents into my make-up bag. I was told just to put a plastic bag around them but I'm afraid my more expensive cosmetics will leak when I take them on the plane. What can I do to prevent this?

  • I'm looking for a dress for graduation?

I am almost 5' 5" and weigh 110 pounds. I am very narrow and quite thin with a small waist and small hips. All the dresses I've seen either look too formal or really cheap and glittery. I want something classy that will flatter my figure. Any suggestions?
