Very strongly opinionated 36 y.o male from the US. I love to talk, debate, discuss, argue, whatever you want to call it. I also love playing Devil's Advocate, to make a point. Some will agree with what I have to say, and some won't. That's fine by me.

  • "Intelligent Falling" vs. "Gravity"....?

Has it really come to this????

    http://www.theonion.com/content/node/39512

Read this and tell me what you think....

I wonder if my theory of "Intelligent Illumination" could replace the concept of electricity.

  • Why is sex held in such high regards, religiously speaking?

Isn't it nothing more than a biological function?

Everybody seems to remember the first time they had sex.

Who remembers the first time they sneezed, or burped, or used the bathroom?

Aren't those other biological functions along the same lines as procreation????

  • Does the concept of "Check and Balance" validate intelligent design?

Does the natural process of creating and destroying simultaneously lend creedence to a possible awareness in nature? Or is natures function a random act of creation and destruction?

For example...population control....does the actions of creating life and taking life support a claim that nature is self aware, being guided by an unseen force? Or is that just a natural random function of a natural random process????

  • Which one is worse???? ?

Alllowing someone to freely believe in something for which there is no substantial evidence, OR, informing that person that there is no substantial evidence to validate their belief????

In other words, is it ok to tell someone that what they believe is wrong, if it truly is?

  • Which is more blasphemous to God?

Harry Potter or The Wizard of Oz???

According to hardcore, conservative, holier than thou, christians Harry Potter introduces teens to witchcraft, which is blasphemous to god, according to them...

The Wizard of Oz does pretty much the same thing introducing two WITCHES in the story. One witch is good, the other is BAD, but they're both still witches, which, God would, presumably, be against...

So...once again....which one would god find more fault with....Harry Potter or The Wizard of Oz?????

  • Which is the bigger threat to the sacred institution of marriage?

    Gay marriage or heterosexual divorce????

With a 51+% divorce rate amongst heterosexuals, it'd seem to me that divorce is a much bigger threat to marriage than gay marriage ever could be.

    Anyone agree????

  • "Separate but equal" vs "separation of church and state"?

I was debating on another board earlier when I stated that I did not believe in "separate but equal" but I fully supported "separation of church and state". Somebody else asked me how I could support one, but not the other, because they both dealt with separation of some sort.

Could someone give me a good, simple explanation of the difference between the 2 so I can post the response for them? I just can't seem to get my point across in a way this other person can understand.

    I need help. Thanks!!!

  • Are christians catered to in the US?

Does it seem to anybody else that anybody in the US who claims the christian faith are basically catered to, trusted more, etc., as opposed to those claiming other faiths, or no faith at all???

Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are some christians within the US who feel they are not allowed to do particular things because of their belief system...but on the whole, doesn't it seem that christians have an easier go of things because they're looked up to in the eyes of the public, in general???

    Did that make sense????

  • Can "freedom from religion" truly exist in a nation where the majority are religious?

In any nation where the majority claim to follow a religious belief system, whatever that belief system may be, is it possible for the concept of "freedom FROM religion" to exist???

  • Can someone explain this to me???

Why are there some Americans who still believe...

    1. The US is a christian nation...

    2. "In God We Trust" has been on our currency since its invention...

    and...

    3. "Under God" was put in the Pledge of Allegiance when our founding fathers wrote it....

Reading a basic high school history book will tell you any of the above mentioned things are NOT true...

Why take them as fact...or are our high school history classes teaching them as fact????

  • If you're opposed to gay marriage...how do you feel about this????

Most people opposed to gay marriage claim it's "immoral", "against God's will"...etc.

I'm wondering how those same people feel about allowing prison inmates to marry while incarcerated.

Surely their actions against society (and in most cases, if not all, against God's will) would deem them unfit for marriage, wouldn't they?

Would you support legislation disallowing inmates within the prison system to marry?

If so, why? If not, why not???

  • If your God is the focal point of your life...and you live your life for your God...?

...if your God asked you to do something that made you feel uncomfortable....would you do it?

Is your God's love so important to you, that you'd do something you knew was wrong, to please your God, if your God asked you to?

Or does the fact that your God asked you, give you all the justification you need to do anything, no matter how uncomfortable it might make you feel?

  • Is having the ability to help others, worth the risk of a couple of potential lives????

If destroying x number of frozen embryos (in order to obtain human stem cells) can help treat people with incurable ailments, and allow them to lead more productive lives...isn't that worth the trade-off???

  • Could a public school be considered an atheists "house"?

Religious people have places of worship, their homes, their churches, their temples, synagogues, etc.

When an atheist attends public school, they are being taught reason, logic, rationale, etc.

Could this be considered an atheists "house"?

  • Why does God allow churches to be struck by lightning???

If lightning is considered an act of God, and lightning strikes a church, burning it to the ground, did God have a grudge against that particular church, or was it something else????

  • Why is it that????

Why are there currently 125,000 perfectly adoptable children in the US foster care system that nobody wants to adopt?

A weak arguement of the pro-life crowd is that there are literally thousands of people who can't have children but would LOVE to adopt a child, if only a pregnant mother, who doesn't want to be pregnant, would consider giving the baby up for adoption, as opposed to abortion.

If there are so many people out there who can't have children, but want to adopt, shouldn't that number be ZERO?????

  • Wouldn't this be absolutely awesome???

If we could all use the excuse "God did it" for everything we can't explain???? Or maybe "Because God said so" for everything we disagree with...and have NOBODY question us???

Wouldn't that be awesome? Wouldn't it make things so much simpler rather than looking for a logical, rational, reasonable explanation for everything?

Why is it that some of us are wired to use logic, reason and rationale rather than the easy excuse???

  • Is there a fundamental difference between Gay Pride Parades and The Million Man March???

I ask this because I hear so many African Americans stating that the plight of homosexuals today for equal rights is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the plights of African Americans for equal rights in the 1950's and 1960's.

My question is HOW???? What are the fundamental differences between the plights of both groups????

  • Is it fair to compare these 2 statements???

I hear some people saying that homosexuals are not being discriminated against when it comes to marriage rights because marriage rights are applied to all people equally. So, having said this, they say that homosexuals are legally allowed to marry, as long as they marry a person of the opposite sex.

Isn't that like saying "both people and fish have the right to breath oxygen....as long as they both breath air...." ????

    Fair comparison? Yes? No?????

  • Do Pro-lifers look at unwanted pregnancy as a punishment for irresponsibility???

I hear so many Pro-Lifers telling women who are pregnant and don't want to be that they "should have thought about that before the act", and they need to "take responsibility for their irresponsible actions"...etc. etc. etc.

Do you view unwanted pregnancy as a "fit punishment" for someone elses irresponsibility???

    I'm just curious.
