I finished a basic obedience course with my puppy he is almost 11 months old I have been putting off having him evaluated for the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy to brush up on his Down stay, sit stay, and were at the point he's past that.

I am wondering if anybody here could give me some pointers on what's being tested and how the handle the dogs. My boy can be a little shy at times toward overly active people.

I am going to be applying to start schooling to become a certified veterinary technician. But I have yet to call just want to know some general things.

Do you need to take general classes to become a vet tech? Such as Math,English, Social Studies etc?

I know the schools I am looking do not specify. I have gone to an local community college but they do not even offer classes I need. So I am kind of in a rut.

I have a 5 - 6 year old quarter horse mare we rescued in December she is underweight we have had the vet out 4 times in the last 4 months of owning the horse we had her teeth floaed, farrier, shots everything done she comes back in perfect health just underweight our vet recommended separating the horses for feeding which we have been doing since we got her. Our vet said senior feed no results our vet says senior feed will keep weight on her but nothing is worming. It breaks my heart to see her so skinny we can see her ribs and hip bones. Do you know of diet we can feed she is on grain 3 times daily and hay. Our vet said to feed Sprout Senior.

Do you think a law against trolling would ever be passed and become a law? I was reading one of those Yahoo articles and it mentioned jail! I decided to post in dog section as we tend to have many trolls here and not enough bridges. What do you think?

I was looking on my local Craigslist and seen an ad posted for a buch of small dog items all which appeared new so I sent an message and got an reply and I had car issues and could not pick it up until today and she said oh you can have it for free. Every thing was new with tags, lots of puppy toys I wanted to pay her what she was asking but she said no, why do I feel weird. I only wanted the Precision pet exercise pen they sell for about $60 new alone.

I got a small winter coat with matching boots both new, small travel kennel, potty pads and tray both brand new, stain removers 2 large bottles 1/4 gone, puppy diaper things new, nylabone puppy chew in package new, and an Precision pet exercise pen also new with tags puppy treats which are open . I think an retail value for everything would be about $100-150.

I will be washing everything before I use it but have you ever felt this way. Should I send her money? She wanted $20 for everything I just feel weird not paying for items.

I was wondering if anyone on here has ever fed Holistic Select brand dog food? I was at Pet-Co and they had it on clearance canned for $0.20 each so I got a case of 12 for $2.40 not expired good until 2014 it was the puppy formula. I have a $10.00 off coupon and I was wondering if any one has fed it to their dogs before its $15 a small bag at Pet-co. Is it any good?

I had a photo as my avatar as my Shih Tzu and the image disappeared shortly after I became a level 5. I tried to change the settings and still nothing but the Yahoo exclamation mark.

Since I am looking to get another show quality female Shih Tzu puppy I have been looking online I found a great breeder already that I am going to look at her puppies Tomorrow afternoon. But I came across this website advertising AKC Shih Tzus and when I went to the site and I read they now register ACA but one thing I found odd as most back yard breeders do not health test their parents (CERF, OFA, and DOGenes). From what I understand ACA is like CKC only a 1/2 step higher as they only register dogs who have AKC status and give them full registration with ACA. And CKC will register anything who do not have a legit registration by sending in pictures. What do they mean non profit organization I thought only shelters and rescues could classify them as non profit not breeders.

While looking on craigslist this morning I see a ad that reads:

WE ARE NOT BREEDERS. Both of the parents are our family pets. The dad is a pure bred mini poodle and the mom is a pure bred lhasa apso. They were born on November 10th and have received their 1st round of shots and have been de-wormed. e-mail me for more pictures

Reading this I laugh because they are not a "breeder" they are a backyard breeder. So they got that part right.

But my question is why do people say we are not breeders when they clearly own both parent dogs and they are selling the puppies, I see it this way if your dog gets pregnant and has puppies you are a breeder, if you are offering stud service you are a breeder, if you have dogs who are not fixed you are planning to become a breeder.

If you are not a breeder what are you?

So my brother went and got a pitt-bull puppy last summer she is about 6/7 months old very cute all black with a white patch on her chest and 1 white toe nail. Her name is Peaches so we moved in last week into our new home he lives up stairs and we live down stairs. I offered to help him train her since I have the extra time to waste and she so badly needs attention she is not potty trained yet since he and his wife work from 9 am to about 7 pm.

How do I go about potty training her since she is a pitt-bull do I have successfully potty trained 6 of my small dogs but they were way younger under 4 months. She is smart but when it comes to potty training she just dose not hold it. She can hold it for about 2 1/2 hours then she will poo and pee all over herself and the kennel if she is not let out.

I am looking at getting her a wire kennel and a harness as well as a strong leash for her sometime this week. Any suggestions for a good brand links would be great. I am looking at pet-co since I have a coupon code and they are having a big sale.

Any tips on training should I use treats / positive re-enforcement.

Ok my nephew is 7 years old 8 in 2 months I am an avid Nintendo collator and I still occasionally play video games I have the handheld systems around Thanksgiving - the week 1/2 after I notice 4 - 5 of my games are missing I have asked him he says he did not take them after questioning him he still has not confessed. I know he stole the games he always has eyes on them and he has done this twice before. And I got them back.

I confront his parents they tell me you know hes like that why did you leave them down or well that's your problem. Last time they laughed it out.

Im Just sick of him everything he dose bothers me. Problem is my mother / his grandmother has custody of him and his 3 sisters and 1 brother we only have problems with him.

I want to send him to kid jail to teach him a lesson, is this possible.

What can I do he took 4-5 games with a value of $30-40 a piece.

His parents see no problem with him and my mother/ his grandmother just dose not know what to do any more.

We have tried therapists, doctors , psychologists, every thing last resort wil have to be medication. I believe he shows some classic symptoms of ADD/ AD-HD

His mother used I do not know which drug while she was pregnant with the last 4 children each has something wrong but nothing like this.

The kid is smart I mean hes at the top of his grade you know how they rank students hes like 3-4 on the list. I just do not understand he is smart when it comes to school but after he comes home from school hes rotten

Well were moving into out new home in 2 weeks not all of the dogs are staying in the house my mom has some larger mix breeds and they love being outside since we had always had fenced in back yard so we were thinking of purchasing an kennel / dog door and we have a heated garage/barn its made into 1 since we have horses. The house we are purchasing is rent to own so my mother only wants the yorkies in the house since they are small until we have an ok from the owner that the dogs can be inside this would include my 4 shih tzus who are staying with my uncle until we are fully moved in. I attached a link to the kennel we are looking at purchasing. We will be purchasing 2 of them one for inside the garage and the other for the outside concrete slab with the weather cover. The concrete slab is about 10 feet long so they will have 5ft of grass to potty on we have a large yard but its not fully fenced in yet .We were suppose to have a dog room but things have changed for now and the dogs will be temporarily be in the heated garage. Do you think this kennel is a good one do you recommend any other ones?

Well my female Shih Tzu received her CH title last summer we still have her in her long coat but winter is fast approaching we have snow here but my question is should I have her hair clipped? I love her with the longer coat but she is not happy because the snow is here and winter months make it almost imposable to keep her hair protected. She is retired from showing and will have her first litter next year 2012 she is almost 4 years in a couple months.

Can you help me, what should I do keep it long or clip it shorter.

My mentor reccomends clipping it shorter if the dog will no be showing but like I mentioned before I prefer long hair.

Can you give me an list of pros and cons of keeping her hair long and hair short.

I have a fancy russian dwarf hamster named Snowflake she has a swollen paw/ foot it appears to have a pimple on it its green/white in color I got her last month beginning of October. I got her at pet-co she has no problems walking but she seems ok she sleeps all day and all night. Unless I wake her up she dose not bite nothing like that. I was holding her yesterday and I did not see it now this afternoon I see her foot/ paw is 2x the size of her other 3 feet/ paws. What is it. I will call the pet-store I got her from and see what they say. I hate to put her down but its about the quality of life.I will call the vet and see what they think. Im devastated my hamsters have all been healthy.

I will be moving in with my mother in about 4-5 weeks and she has small dogs as do I I want to know If their is a good brand of carpet shampoo. I really want to shampoo her rugs and carpets as well as mine at my home. It needs to be sold at pet-co I have a gift card that I will be using from there. Is Natures Miracle a good brand? Or Simple Solution.
