Will sun gazing at sunrise / sunset darken my eyes?
My eyes are extremely light blue. I know how sunburns form but melatonin doesn't break up during sunrises or sunsets. Therefore my eyes can't be darkened, right?
5 AnswersAstronomy & Space8 years agoCan someone explain these weird sleeping and dreaming experiences?
Howdy y'all,
After becoming completely interested in the works of Dr. Stephen LaBerge and his pioneering researching on Lucid Dreaming, I began reading books (both by him and other authors), watching videos and taking notes on others' experiences. I kept a dream journal (although it was not ever too detailed) and at night I think about dreaming before falling asleep in order to remember my dreams. Astral Projection is also of interest to me (although not really sought after, as everything takes time and must not be rushed or hurried.)
Anyways, I haven't done this for long. I have been aware of the subject maybe 18 months now. For perhaps a total of only two months spaced sparsely between that 18 month span have I actually put into practice what I know and what I think I know. And yet, I am having really strange experiences with sleeping and dreaming-experiences I would think would be strange and alien to someone who has been practicing this for years! Now, I hadn't been practicing any of this for about a year now. Yet, two nights ago I decided to try it again. And on the second night (last night) something strange happened-something that I was shocked returned so quickly. (It use to happen every other night or so, but once I stopped, I thought it would be a while until it started happening again.)
So, here's what happened:
I realized I was in a dream. (Or at least, came to the realization that what I was doing was definitely not being done in reality. It wasn't completely lucid but was indeed misplaced.) Because of this, I woke up but was paralyzed. (Not a big deal, happens all the time when waking yourself up in the middle of a dream. It even helped me get rid of my fear of being in tight places, unable to move. So, that's always been cool and it doesn't bother me.) I concentrated on being able to move and within a dozen seconds or so regained movement and was able to move, as well. But, upon waking, there was this LOUD buzzing sound. Completely loud. Soothing, too. Not annoying. But loud. I was also shaking, vibrating, actually. Vibrating every so softly, yet vibrating. I also have this lifting feeling. (I'd say probably 90% of the time. The other 1/10th it is sometimes a sinking feeling, as if I'm sinking into the bed. But usually, like last night, it's a floating feeling.) And because of this, I tried to stay awake. (I don't know why, I wasn't really scared at all.) But when I stay awake, sleep almost beckons me and I actually fall back into the paralyzed/vibrating state before falling asleep!
Keep in mind, this happens a lot. At least, anytime I think consciously about dreaming before I actually roll over and go to sleep. I have my suspicions as to what it may be. (It actually sounds like reports of Astral Projection, yet it never goes that far, sadly.) But I doubt I would be able to do this (if we even consider it's possible, which I do believe so.) so shortly! This takes years, so I have no idea what it could be.
I haven't really voiced this with anyone because it's such a hard thing to explain.
Thanks!
P.S, as I'm typing this from my phone, while lying in bed, I expect it to happen again tonight. So strange...
4 AnswersPsychology8 years agoWhat is the Rate of Change of US Debt?
I have a Calculus project due Friday wherein I must analyze the Rate of Change of something (proportional to something else) and model that problem with a differential equation and obtain a general solution. Now, I've done research on the US Debt for a few years now and have in my notes several complicated formulas with multiple varying rates of change. But, is there a sort of simplified version that would incorporate all these various factors? (Albeit inaccurate) it would work.
1 AnswerEconomics8 years agoCan someone give me a reasonable argument for Drone Strikes against Americans on American Soil?
Honestly, what am I missing here. I have Habeas Corpus, the Bill of Rights and Due Process all before me. Now tell me wherein it allows for a Drone Strike against an American. I mean, are Libertarians the only people even referring to the Constitution anymore??
13 AnswersPolitics8 years agoCan someone help me with finding the Volume of a Solid of Revolution using Integrals?
I have all the methods down and I know how to solve them. The only problem I have is knowing when to convert the bounds, use y= and put the integral in terms of y and when to convert the bounds, use x= and put the integral in terms of x. This is killing me.
2 AnswersMathematics8 years agoHow do I use Integrals to find how Velocity is behaving given the Acceleration?
I am given the following :
s(0) = 0 ft
V(0) = 70 ft/s
The following points on the graph a(t) in ft/sec² :
(2, -4), (10, -8), (14, -4), (18,15), (20, 15)
Is the velocity of the car increasing, decreasing, or constant at t = 10, 14 & 19secs?
I know this is a lot of work, but please help in any way possible. I'm really desperate for it.
Also could you tell me how to find the Minimum and Maximum Velocity and when it occurs?
2 AnswersMathematics8 years agoHow do I use her- compounds in German sentences?
I always come to times in which I'd like to use one, and feel that it is necessary. Something about the sentence seems to be begging for the her- compound, but, out of fear that it'll be wrong, I refrain myself. Then I'm often corrected that I should have used such a word. But I don't know when. It just seems natural. But, grammatically speaking, when should I use this? Could y'all give examples?
1 AnswerLanguages8 years agoWhat is the Rate of Change of Jerk called?
The thought just occurred to me. You can of course take the Derivative of Jerk, but what is it called? I can't think of a scenario in which the rate of Jerk would be changing.
3 AnswersPhysics8 years agoHow could I relieve some of the pain from my shoulder?
Soon I will try out my new Workout Routine for Bulking. However, because I throw so many pitches, my left shoulder is having pain. I think it's gone, and then I lift something and I feel it. It's not enough to hurt, but it's enough to let me know that, if I ain't careful, I could really hurt myself. It's the nerve kind of sharp pain, not the dull muscle pain, you know.
Is there any kind of exercise I could do to strengthen the joint itself? Anything I could to speed its recovery?

1. A 1.0 x 10^3 kg elevator carries a maximum load of 800.0 kg. A constant frictional force of 4.0 x 10^3 N retards the elevator's motion upward. What minimum power, in kilowatts, must the motor deliver to lift the fully loaded elevator at a constant speed of 3.00 m/s?

I'm excellent in Physics. But this problem is starting to bug me. I know it's really obvious, but I can't see it. It's only about Work and Energy! So frustrating.
If 2.0 Joules of work is done in raising a 180 Gram apple, how far is it lifted?
1 AnswerPhysics8 years agoDoes Texas offer Accelerated Probation for first time offenders?
For first time offenders, does Texas offer Accelerated Probation? I've only heard of it occurring in places such as Pennsylvania, wherein all charges are dropped if he who committed the crime does not violate his prolonged probation period. Does Texas offer this? For nonviolent felonies?

Find the value of the Derivative at each indicated Extremum.
f(x) = x + (27 / 2x²)
I derived f(x) to find that f ` (x) = 1 - 108x^-3
The point is f(3) = 9/2
The book says the right answer is f ` (3) = 0, but I ain't getting that. Can someone please help?
