  • How widespread was the immunization for swine flu in 1976?

I have a little running bet with my husband that the older generations (mine) in the US received some kind of immunity from previous infection - either by exposure or inoculation, but can't find anything on the Web about the program they used in 1976 for the shot they developed -

  • Challenge to the Church?

I keep reading the posts by others here that say they are Christians, but don't attend church and don't believe in organized religion. I REALLY don't want a list of your reasons for not belonging, but many of you say that you read the Word of God. SO, BEST ANSWER to the one who provides clear New Testament evidence that says that a believer can live, mature and prosper outside of a body of believers - the church...

Pastors, preachers, priests, deacons...any input is helpful...

Please DON'T post if you are going to badmouth the church.

  • Travel with teenage son?

My husband would like to take my son away for a long weekend in the US - he is pretty open to ideas; my son likes to be active and he likes history - Washington DC is out, though. Any ideas for a guy-bonding thing?

  • Tree on Hwy 97 in Oregon?

There is a tree covered with shoes (yes, shoes) off of Highway 97 between Goldendale Wa and Bend, Oregon...can anyone tell me anything about it? What kind of tree is it? Exactly what town is it in? Are there any stories about it, or was this just a spontaneous thing?

  • Laugh lines in the Bible?

I need a good laugh today and at times it seems our Christian community here is trying a little too hard - I love the line in Genesis 21:6 in which Sarah overhears she will have a son (Isaac) in her old age and she cracks up. Even the name Isaac refers to her laughter. Any other great laugh lines on Scripture or a favorite (CLEAN) joke about us Christians? Have a great day and follow the rules : )

  • Bible question in Genesis?

In Genesis 1:26, it says this: "Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness". I have always wondered if it was just my translation (NAB) or if it is supposed to translate as the plural pronoun, "our". If it is plural, who is WE? The Jews did not have a concept of the Trinity - does it refer to Wisdom or who is it...serious answers only, please.
