  • Can a woman be a coward?

Generally a woman is not expected to be brave in the first place and it is often viewed as acceptable for her to sacrifice others to save herself. Even when a woman isn't in a dangerous situation but rather a moral one people with often show sympathy rather than disgust for her backing out. Whereas if man were to back out of either situation he would be called a coward. In fact men who are cowards are often referred to as women. So if women are expected to be so weak in the first place is it even possible for her to be a coward? If so how?How would a brave woman be portrayed?

  • Meeting up with an enemy after a war is over?

I've always wondered but once a war is over, how do the troops respond to the enemy then? Do they still view these people who once tried to kill them as threats or hold any grudges against them? Even though they may have killed some of their closest comrades in battle?Or do soldiers view their enemy as people who are in the same situation as they were, fighting for their own country?

  • I need help designing my characters?

I'm working on designing my characters for a short story. Each of them are based off of the Seven Deadly Sins and because the sins can be committed by anyone I'm having a hard time deciding which characters should be male and which should be female. So I was hoping someone could assign genders to each one. I need 4 men 3 women.

    The sins are:

    Pride

    Envy

    Anger

    Lust

    Greed

    Sloth

    Gluttony

  • Should a man be able to hit a woman out of self-defense?

For instance if a woman were to run up to a man with a knife in an attempt to stab him shouldn't he be able to hit her as a means of disarming her and getting away?Or if the man in question is exceptionally

weaker or at some disadvantage(ex:disabled, malnourished, small stature) shouldn't he be able to defend himself from a woman who would have the upper hand in a threatening situation?

  • How to be subtle when trying to convey a message?

I'm writing a short story about a lesbian teenager who commits suicide due to constant bullying by her peers. But I don't want the entire story to just be summed as:HOMOSEXUAL=GOOD,EVERYONE ELSE=BAD

But rather show what its like be in a difficult situation like that and how it can negatively effect someone to the point of taking their own life. How can I do this without lecturing the reader and tell a story? Any suggestions?

  • Need help personifying the Seven Deadly Sins?

Mainly upon deciding what job occupations they should have if the sins were people. For example Gluttony could be the owner of a fast food franchise or Pride a fashion designer. Its for a short story I'm working on and I need ideas since I'm sort of on a writer's block. The Seven Deadly Sins for those that don't know are Pride,Gluttony,Sloth,Envy,Greed,Lust, and Wrath. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

  • Why are feminine men viewed more negatively than masculine women?

When a woman takes on more masculine traits or wears men's clothing or takes on a job that's traditionally been ascribed to men(ex:engineering, construction)its seen as far more acceptable than if a man were to take on more feminine traits, wear women's clothing(ex:dresses, skirts, pastel colours),or feminine jobs(ex:nursing, fashion, taking care of children). It almost seems like an insult to combine men with femininity.

Any time a man is deemed to be aligning himself with anything feminine it is perceived as threat to his masculinity. In turn hostility arises and can range from verbal insults to physical abuse. Men's sexuality for some reason is questioned even though sexual attraction and gender identity are two whole separate things. Also, when I look at violence against feminine men I can’t help but think of it as the kind of violence that would come against women if women weren’t so necessary from a reproductive stand point. Who is to say women would fair any better treatment if the ideology hadn’t evolved that their protection was necessary? There seems to be this idea that femininity is innate for females, that their perceived fragility isn’t something to get frustrated with, or upset about but just an aspect of who they are naturally. Ergo, violence against women would be viewed as pointless(because they will never change they why they are because femininity is innate to them) and as property damage because as mentioned earlier women are a necessary component needed for reproduction. Men however are people who are meant to be judged or evaluated,no matter how harsh or violently. In turn, should a man start to exhibit traits associated with women they are seen as lowering themselves. Whereas with women the negative attributes of femininity are something to be tolerated or perhaps given as a begrudging and flimsy excuse for events like domestic violence and rape(ex:wearing form fitting dresses, exposing cleavage, long hair).

So why is then? Please,I don't mean to offend anyone I'm just wondering why this is. I appreciate any answers.

  • How to get over fear of returning to school after doing something really stupid?

Today I did something incredibly stupid and ran in front of a bus. The bus looked like it was getting ready to take off and I thought it was going to leave me behind so I chased after it and got in front of it in an attempt to get the driver's attention. I could have gotten hurt and probably killed had to the driver not stopped on time.

Now I'm afraid of returning to school again and riding the bus. I just can't forgive myself for doing something so stupid and impulsive.

Please,I'm serious.I can't live the rest of my life in fear. I have to take the bus to school so I have to face up to this but I don't know how. I don't have anyone I can talk to at home or any friends I can turn to. Please don't leave me anything hateful, like saying I should have gotten hit by the bus.I'm just a dumb kid looking for some guidance. I know there's better places to turn to than the Internet but this is the only place I can turn to. I'll be appreciative of any help.
