"I am not. At least I don't think I am. There always stands the possibility that I've been lying to myself, but I think I would know if I was. Then again, I haven't really felt like myself lately, so maybe I am. I'm not sure at least, of that I am certain." - Me

  • Which bothers you more?

Being corrected publicly for being an idiot, or being accusingly and illegitimately harassed in private by an idiot?

  • Why are "madmen" always laughing?

If someone asked me to draw a madman... the first thing I would think of is the common depiction of a man in a straight jacket laughing uncontrollably... why do we use "madness" to describe this? Isn't madness also associated with anger and fury? Where did that connection come from? Culturally? Psychologically? Historically? Linguistically? Which one came first?

  • Atheists, what DO you believe?

I'm a little troubled by my overall experience with fellow answers atheists, and I think it stems from my assumptions about the significance of our common beliefs. I assumed we all want to know truth in whatever form that might exist and that we would all eagerly accept correction and debate about our own understanding of the world around us, because to be proven incorrect or to recognize a flaw in our own logic only means we achieve a more logical answer to help us understand the human experience ...

I don't think atheism means to me what it does to others, I've obviously just been blocked from responding to a question I would have liked to participate in because I assumed people would be open to criticism... especially about the criticizing of christians from the standpoint that it didn't make sense for an atheist to believe in the manifestation of a purely evil entity, organization, or philosophy, if they do not believe in perfection or the fight between good and evil...

Could you explain to me, if you consider yourself an atheist, what atheism means to you? Is it simply the void of faith because you see flaws in logic, is it the unbiased willingness to accept truth whether that means god or otherwise, are you an atheist because you are well informed about other potential truths? Are their other reasons why people become or call themselves atheists?

Do you believe in good and evil? If so, what form does it take, and how do you recognize it when you see it?

  • How do you predict the earth will be affected by the shifting of the poles?

I was just watching a Nova program which briefly mentioned the importance of the earths magnetic field in preserving our atmosphere and deflecting radiation from the sun enough to create and maintain an environment where life can exist.

I had to ask myself, if our poles are shifting, which I hear has already begun within the last decade... will this have an impact on the magnetic fields, our atmosphere, our protection against the sun which permits life, weather patterns, our susceptibility to meteor and asteroid encounters, the way the moon effects the tides, the positioning of the moon, global or regional temperature, agriculture, gravity, distance from the sun, etc etc...

If you happen to have any knowledge or expertise that you'd enjoy dropping on me in relation to any of these areas of study, I'd like to know what you know.

Flaunt what you've got... the more sources you can throw down as well the better, although any speculation is appreciated.

  • What do men/guys/boys think of women who wear thongs?

When you notice a girl is wearing a thong do you like it? Why?

What kind of assumptions or first impressions do you have about her?

Why do you think women wear them?

Can you respect a women who wears a thong? If so, what are your interactions with women in general...

Hypothetically, would you tell a 14 year old, who is really interested in getting some, but she's afraid her mom will find them in the laundry and make a big deal... from a male perspective, is it worth it, and why... to whom could it be a benefit, and what would they get out of it... is it possible it might be a negative?

Thanks for responding, if you could be as honest as possible that would be even better (no need to promote the use of thongs unless you explain why) ...I'm curious what I'll get here and I think it might help some other yahooers as well.

  • What does it mean to be an adult, and how/when did you get there?

I think this is an interesting question, that plagues the mind of adults and young adults alike. I would like to know how others would answer this question, whether you think you're there yet or not... it might also be interesting if you'd state your age, especially because it is so closely attributed to adulthood... you know, "coming of age." What do you think?

  • Satan vs. Rosa Parks?

A servant to the lord who was not loved as much as man and treated as a slave messenger until he said, you know what screw you, I'm not second class, I'll do what I want...

My point is not to vilify rosa parks, on the contrary to ask the opposite...why do I get what he's saying, that doesn't sound that evil.. then he tells eve to learn, eat from the tree of knowledge? Oddly this depiction resembles a lot of people I look up to. Any thoughts?

  • What is this high IQ society?

I just read some question about the validity of online IQ tests, and the best answer was, "no online IQ test is valid, not even the high IQ society will accept scores for their own tests towards a membership."

Now I have to ask, what is this high IQ society anyway? Anybody know? Anybody a member? And do they NOT accept people? Is it a scam?

I got an invite, because according to their test I was in the top 5% of the population, you have to get at least a 175 or something like that, but they wanted a one time membership fee so I decided screw it. Now I'm wondering what that comment meant? Do you pay money and then not get the website and access to write in the editorial ? Anybody a member, or pay the "membership fee"? I'd like to know now what that whole thing was about.
