I lack confidence in my running abilities? Currently #8 and need some advice.?
Im #8. Our #7 has a hamstring injury she got last week, and was out for a few days, and she had to run Jv yesterday in a race, but I have a feeling she might be out for the next week because it really hurt her after the race. With that being said, I had to run varsity yesterday, but I found out 4 HOURS before my race. I'm a good runner, I know I am, but I'm a sophomore and I just started XC this year. I feel like I'm so far behind everyone and lacking experience, and in my race yesterday I felt so defeated. I felt good in my race physically, but for some reason I though "oh, I feel so good, I probably shouldn't try to push it or I'll just die out" I finished a few seconds behind the next fastest girl on my team, but both of us did horrible. I'm so mad at myself I felt like I could've pushed myself harder and finished 30-40 seconds faster, because I felt good. I feel like I'm stuck in this mindset where I just assume I'm worse than the #6 and #7 on my team and I'm too scared to run infront of them. It was my first time running that distance too. I really want to prove myself on this team and show the coach how good I can be, I feel like he knows I have potential but I've yet to blow him away except in workouts. , and I have an important 5k coming up next Saturday on a fast course in a couple states away, where everyone PRs compared to our horrible 5k course in our area. Anyways, I feel like I may have to run varsity again, and I'm telling myself I HAVE To do amazing.
1 AnswerRunning5 years agoWHATS THIS SONG? HELP PLEASE?
It s like some electronic/ alternative song and I ve heard it on the radio before (not recently) but it has this synthetic instrumental part that is like "do re me fa so la ti la so do" (obviously not those actual words but just the notes) and its lyrics are like "everyone needs someone to lean on, so lean on me" and then in goes into that synthetic thing. Please this has been stuck in my head for like a month now and I can t think of it
1 AnswerLyrics5 years agoFirst season of XC??? Sprinter turned long distance?? Tips!!?
Hi! So I'm a 14 year old female freshman, and this fall (sophomore year) I'll be trying cross country. Throughout winter track I was strictly a sprinter, and I started out spring sprinting too. I went from running 100s to 400s out of nowhere!! Since last year on junior high I was told by my coach I should do cross country (I didn't, I was occupied with another sport) and my coach this year told me to do it. She convinced me to run an 800, even though I have no idea to run it, and I've ran it 3 times (while still being trained as a sprinter) and my best is 2:38 (which I feel I can improve upon greatly) and my coaches think I should do cross country and they say I'm going to be running distance anyways. So now I'm going to do cross country. I really want to do good. Do you think it's possible for me to get 22:00 in a 5k if I train really hard? I really want to, and for time trial we are doing our first practice you have to get under 23:00 to run in varsity races. If it means anything, I ran a 7min mile in gym without trying hard at all. Also, any recommendations for good running watches that are affordable? Thanks!!
3 AnswersRunning5 years agoWhat jobs deal with culture and geography?
So I'm a freshman right now, sophomore soon. And as I'm starting to grow older I want to figure out what to do. I am in love with geography (like the globe and such) and I can locate almost every country in the world right now and I'm working on memorizing capitals. I just think it's so cool. I also really enjoy learning about other countries from around the world, it just seems so cool.
I also wanted to become an interior designer, but those jobs don't tend to pay much. Architecture is also really fascinating to me. I also think genetics are really cool. So if anyone has any future careers or college majors I would love that!!
Teaching and being a surgeon/pediatrician are out of the question for me.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)5 years agoWhy do some atheists celebrate Christmas?
It is a religious holiday. I don't care if it's not seen as religion as it used to be, it's still religious. I wouldn't mind atheists making up their own holiday but celebrating a religious holiday seems odd to me. They left their religion, they shouldn't follow some of its holidays.
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoI want to grow Taller?
I'm 5'5 and I want to be like 5'6-5'7. My dad is 5'9 and my mom is 5'5. I had my period around 2 years ago, if that matters, but it's still not on a routine time and for the first 6 months I had it I only got my period like twice. I know people say you stop growing after you have had your period for 2 years, but I hope that's not true for everyone!!! My mom thinks I'll grow another 2 inches or so. Btw I just turned 14. I also run track everyday if that matters. I also have recently grown a little bit. Will I keep growing? And how much? And anything I can do to make me grow faster?
2 AnswersWomen's Health5 years agoWhat is the time difference between a hh and automatic time 55m?
For example, someone ran a 7.9 55m recorded by hand held. Keep in mind in this race they didn't do a down start or dip at the end. If they ran that same race but the time was automatic, what do you think their time would be? Would it be higher because don't you add like .24 to a handheld time to get automatic? But if they downstarted and dipped at the end (which should help to lower the time, right? My coach says dipping takes off a tenth of a second of your time) would it be relatively the same time and under 8 seconds? Thanks, sorry if this is confusing XD
1 AnswerRunning5 years agoRecommendations for winter track gear?
I'm a girl, 13, and this is my first year of winter track. They said what we need (gloves, running shoes, etc) anyone know of good gloves for running that actually keep your hands warm? And any good running shoes (not spikes) for sprinting? Recommend any good products you love, even if they're for guys there's probably a girl version I could find. Season starts Monday!

9 AnswersMythology & Folklore6 years agoFirst winter track season... What races should I run?
So this is my first season on varsity (I'm a freshman) and I'm 13. I'm a sprinter, and I run the 55m in 7.85, which is probably my best race. Anyways, I've only done junior high spring track and I ran the 55m and 100m. But don't they not do 100m in winter track? I never trained for the 200m and the 400m but when we did it in practice the track coach said I should do cross country (I didn't lol) but do you think I should do those longer distance sprints? Will my 55m time not improve as much as it would if I didn't do the longer sprints? I'm so excited and I want it to be a great season and I want to try to improve my 55m by a lot. Thanks for the help, and if anyone has any experience with winter track tell me how it was?
1 AnswerRunning6 years agoVegetarian friends bullying me?
Two of my closest friends are vegetarian (two others are too but they aren't as mean about it) I don't think they're purposely trying to offend omnivores, but it's happening. They're in almost all my classes, and EVERY SINGLE DAY they talk about being vegetarian right in front of me. And they go up to my friends and say "you should be vegetarian!" And my friends get weirded out, I mean who just goes up to some random person and says that? I don't understand why they feel the need to do that. It's a personal choice, not theirs as to who eats meat and who doesn't. And the one of them still eats fish too! But anyways,I don't go screaming every single day "I LOVE MEAT, IF YOURE A VEGETARIAN, EAT A BURGER" that's so mean. But they're doing the same thing only the opposite pretty much. And I don't think they realize it but it's really upsetting me and I don't think they'd understand. It's gotten to the point that I don't eat meat around them because I know they will be like "ew" and judge me. It's really making me so sad :( no butthurt comments please. I respect vegetarian/vegan choices, you can respect mine, I'm looking for advice, not for some vegetarian to be rude to me.
3 AnswersFriends6 years agoCan someone explain why they are a huge fan of Bernie?
I don't understand why he's so hyped by young adults. I don't get it at all. Socialism won't work for America.
12 AnswersPolitics6 years agoI'm thinking of going vegetarian but worried for my health?
I know it's healthy to be vegetarian but a lot of the time people lose weight and I'm already quite underweight (102 pounds, 5'5 and I'm 13) and my parents aren't too accepting of the diet so I'm not sure what I would do. I just don't want to lose more weight :(((
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan6 years agoWhat size Abercrombie jeans should I buy?
Alright, so I m looking at Abercrombie.com and I m interested in their jeans. I ve never bought a pair of Abercrombie jeans so I m not sure How they ll fit compared to Hollister Jeans, which I know Abercrombie owns. Anyways, it says on their size chat that if you have a waist that is 24-25 inches you re like a size 0. That s my waist size, but there s NO way I m fitting into a size 0. I range from a size 2-6 In different brands. My hip measurement is like a 35 I think. I just don't want the jeans to be too lose at the top, especially because I'm interested in buying high-waisted jeans.
4 AnswersFashion & Accessories6 years agoWhat should I do? What would you do? Is my friend not right in the head?
So me and my best friend have this one other friend, who we are both close to. Anyways, that one friends mom died when she was 6 if that matters. So me and my best friend have both had this problem with her where she would try to like touch us. Like we'd be in the pool and shed randomly try to jump on us and reach into our swimming suits and touch our boobs (6th grade at the time, obviously not much there) and we'd tell her to stop and be very strict about it and it's like she wouldn't listen and would almost be in a different state of minds in different times. She's tried to grab our boobs on numbers of other times, and we've always told her to stop. She will try and lay on me and my friend weirdly and I'm like really creeped out by it. I only realized how wrong it was last week, when my best friend told me she tried to lay on her. She's done stuff like this for 2 years. And she's always pointing out how "cute" we look and how good my boobs are and how good my best friends butt is.... Like, um? And we tell her to stop to the point where we my best friend gets a bit mean about it but she doesn't listen. It's like she's in a trance or bipolar when she does that, otherwise she's normal. If we told someone, what would happen? Do you think she's mental? What should we do? Thanks Like friends aren't supposed to in appropriately touch their friends so I don't know what's her problem. And she says she has this crush on a guy so she's not lesbian I think but even still.

6 AnswersBaby Names6 years agoSize 2-4 jeans?
So I m normally a 2-4 depending on the store but it s ranged up to 6. I m just very confused because I saw many charts with the waist measurement for a size 0 a 23-24, and my waist measurements are a 24...? But I m no way or no how able to fit into a 00 or even a 0.... Is this normal? I m on the skinny side for my height but should I be worried or is this just having curves? I know not every size chart is the same but I wonder because for a lot of my jeans I find it looser by the waist and tighter by the thighs and going up a size is just too big
4 AnswersFashion & Accessories6 years agoHigh waisted shorts on an hourglass figure?
so I love high waisted shorts, and they look great on me! I'm 13, and I'm on the skinnier side, but I do have bigger hips and not a huge bust, but not too bad for my age (b cup). Anyway, I'm an hourglass figure, my waist is on the smaller side (23) and whenever I wear high waisted shorts they look great with my narrow waist, but there's always like one button that is a bit off centered because of I guess having wider hips for my size (2-4) and when I try to go up a size it doesn't fit at all. This happens with every pair of high waisted shorts I own, no matter if they're a month old or a year old. It's not very noticeable unless you really look, but is there any way to fix this?
Fashion & Accessories6 years agoHow much do times improve from 8th grade to senior year?
just wondering. You've probably seen me around the Running Questions community, I'm a 13 year old girl who runs a 7.85 55m. How much do you think I'll be able to cut off of that time from 13 years old to 17 years old? Thanks! And would that tIme be considered a good time?
