  • Do I need a TV license if I m using my laptop when it s not plugged in?

Okay so I m a student and it says you need a TV license if you watch live TV or catch up on BBC iPlayer. I don t currently have a TV license here, but my parents do back home.

    It says here:

"A halls’ licence doesn’t cover students in their rooms. They won’t be covered by their parents’ licence either, unless they only ever use devices that are powered solely by their own internal batteries, and aren’t plugged into an aerial or the mains."

Does this mean as long as I ve charged my laptop up before I start watching live TV that it s fine to watch legally? Or does it mean only devices that are NEVER plugged in?

Just a bit confused as to whether my laptop applies or not.

  • What do you think of the name Jasper for a dog?

I know this isn't for a baby, but I thought I'd ask here seeing as there be people with more honest opinions on the name itself.

  • I'm scared of starting a job and speaking to people?

Yesterday the owner of a Thai restaurant knocked on our door and asked if I was interested in a job. I panicked and said yes because I was basically too awkward to say no. Now I really am regretting it because I am terrified. I have to answer the phone and take orders (I am scared of answering the phone) and pack food into boxes. I am useless at following orders because for some reason no matter how clear the instructions i always forget instantly what they told me and then am too embarrassed to ask again.

So basically I think I will be useless at this job as I am terrified of messing up and I am terrified of speaking to people, both on the phone and face to face. I always panic and say the wrong thing. I also can never say what I want to say properly face to face, I never use the right words. Typing I am fine, and can say exactly what I want. It's really disruptive because I basically cannot tell anyone anything because I don't say it right.

Anyway, back to the job. I told my mum that I was scared to start this job and she said I was being ridiculous and needed to start acting normal. My dad says I'm not going to get anywhere in life and that I am lazy and want everything my own way and he keeps comparing me to my cousin who's had a job for two years. I am definitely not lazy, I have been studying for my exams all week while I doubt my cousin has even heard of the word study. It's just that she's popular and has no problem with talking to people.

    So what can I do?

  • How many Gryffindor boys were in Harry's year at Hogwarts?

Are Harry, Ron, Neville, Seamus and Dean the only ones or were there other dormitories that you don't hear about?

  • Harry Potter questions about the number of Hogwarts students?

Okay so me and my friends were having an argument today about the number of students at Hogwarts. While I figured there were approximately 300 students, both my friends (who are huge Potterheads as well as me) said I was "most definitely wrong" and that there were more likely 56,000 students at Hogwarts. Obviously, that is a massive difference.

What I think: There are 5 Gryffindor boys in Harry's year (Harry, Ron, Neville, Seamus and Dean) and probably 5 girls (Hermione, Lavender and Parvati and possibly a couple that we don't hear of). If we say that there are 10 students in Harry's year in Gryffindor, then we can estimate that there are approximately 40 students in Harry's year (including Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff). Multiplying this by 7 (how many years at Hogwarts at one time) that would be around 280 students. Which is a rather small amount I will admit, so it might not be exactly equal numbers of students in each house and year, which could round up to a little more than 300.

What my friends think: There are more than one Gryffindor boys dormitory for Harry's year and there are about 2000 Gryffindor students in Harry's year alone. In total, there are 8000 students in Harry's year, multiply this by 7, making 56,000 students at Hogwarts. They base this on the size of the castle too which is clearly massive and must hold a large number of students. Also, they think that there about 10 million wizards in the UK, while I say there are more likely round about 200,000.

So, how many students would you say are in Gryffindor in Harry's year at Hogwarts, and how many students in total?

    Thanks :)

  • My dwarf hamsters are fighting?

I have two chinese dwarf hamsters. They are about 2 and a half years old, and they fight each other often. I have noticed that it is usually the brown hamster fighting the white hamster. Today, the fight lasted a really long time. He just would stop attacking the other and it worried me because it really did look like he was killing him. I ended up seperating them, by a piece of cardboard through the middle of the cage. There doesn't seem to be any visible wounds on the white hamster but he is acting very strangely. He stays in one place for ages and I can see his heart beating really hard and fast. Then he moves a bit, but he is walking really odd. I'm wondering if he has an injury? When he walks it looks like he's shaking really bad. This has been going on for about an hour now, and is worrying me. The brown hamster seems completely fine.Is this normal behaviour after a fight?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Does anyone have the Harry Potter Scene It: The Complete Cinematic Journey?

I want to buy this for my sister for her birthday, and I want to make sure the gift will be worthwile. I know she already has one Harry Potter Scene It game (I know for sure it's not the same game as this) which just covers films 1 to 5. I was just wondering if this covers all 8 movies, or not? And if not, which movies does it cover? Thanks for helping.

  • Help! Balancing chemical equations!?

Okay, so I have no idea how to balance equations, and no matter how much I read over my revision notes, it just doesn't make any sense to me. Can you please try and explain it as simply as you can because my brain just can't cope with complicated answers. I understand most of chemistry except for this, and I have my GCSE exam on Thursday. Also, how do you work out what the formula of the compound you end up with after a reaction?

    Okay, so here's an example:

Say you reacted sodium with chlorine to make sodium chloride. It's Na + Cl2 = ?

And after that, how do you balance the whole equation?

    Thanks :/

  • Is it good to sit at the front in the Royal Albert Hall?

I'm going to see a concert in the Royal Albert Hall in London, and before buying tickets I want to know where I should sit. I was thinking of sitting right in the front, but I don't know how well you can see from there? Do you get a good view of the stage and is it comfortable, or do you end up with a pain in your neck trying to see the stage properly? Where else would you recommend sitting?

    Thanks :)

  • Is there something wrong or is this normal?

Well, I have just started my period last month so this is my second time. But both times I have been bleeding for more than 11 days. It was about 13 days last month and this time it's the 11th day since it begun but it's still going. Is this just because I've only just started or is there something wrong?

  • Whose your favourite member of One Direction and McFly?

They're my two favourite bands so I'm wondering out of interest who your favourite member of each band is and why. And which you prefer, One Direction or McFly. I can't choose personally.

  • Could you answer this question please? Need to know the answer tonight!?

In the UK, (don't know if it's different anywhere else) with a 12A film in the cinema, can a child under 12 see the film with a person over 12 (even though their not an adult).

Like, it says they can watch it with an adult, does that mean an actual adult or someone who is classed as an adult in the cinema.

Basically what I'm asking is, can I take my 11 year old sister to see Breaking Dawn Part 2 tomorrow afternoon (I'm 14).

    Thanks.
