Fire resistant enamel paint?
I'm making a steam boat, so I need an enamel paint to go on some metal and withstand heat and direct flame (though only a small part will be exposed to the flame)
Does anyone have any suggestions?
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)9 years agoWhat kind of paint should I use on soapstone?
I have an ornament made from soapstone that has lost it's black colour from direct sunlight. I have had no luck finding out what kind of paint is best to use on soapstone. I have some enamel and acrylic paint but I'd rather find out before I apply either of them if there might be any harmful affects, or if there's something I should do to prepare the soapstone?

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoCan you recommend me a P. G. Wodehouse book to read?
Hi, I want to start reading some Wodehouse since I loved watching Fry and Laurie play Jeeves and Wooster - and some of my favourite authors cite Wodehouse as their inspiration for writing.
So what would other fans recommend for a first book to delve into?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors10 years agoIs the difference between atheists and theists all in the brain?
Theists rely more on the limbic part of the brain that relies more on feelings like trust and loyalty when it comes to the question of religion, and atheists are more apt to use the neocortex - which is responsible for all of our rational and analytical thought and language.
Your thoughts, or rather, feelings on this?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWill atheism supplant religion if quality of life keeps on increasing?
http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-beas...
"Atheists are heavily concentrated in economically developed countries, particularly the social democracies of Europe. In underdeveloped countries, there are virtually no atheists. Atheism is a peculiarly modern phenomenon. Why do modern conditions produce atheism? In a new study to be published in August, I provide compelling evidence that atheism increases along with the quality of life..."
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhy do Creationists deny scientific evidence?
If you're a creationist but don't -feel- like you're denying anything, why is the evidence wrong? I've tried seeing it from a creationist point of view but I'm having difficulty.
This is part of a transcript from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59VT8FCA66o
"...None of what I'm telling you is my opinion. It's all grounded in the tenets of biology. Not psychology, biology. If you look at a cross-section of the human brain, looking from the top down, what you see is the human brain is actually broken into three major components that correlate perfectly with the golden circle. Our newest brain, our homo sapien brain, our neocortex, corresponds with the "what" level.
The neocortex is responsible for all of our rational and analytical thought and language. The middle two sections make up our limbic brains. And our limbic brains are responsible for all of our feelings, like trust and loyalty. It's also responsible for all human behavior, all decision-making, and it has no capacity for language..."
So do you think when it comes to evolution they're using only the limbic parts of their brain? Or do you feel it's not true?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years ago"The Church Doesn't Like the People to Grow Up"?
Spoken from a theist. He seems like a really decent and thoughtful man. The way he perceives god is more appealing than how most other theists view him. What are your thoughts?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoFavourite Discworld characters?
Who's in your top 3? Any favourite "minor" characters?
Death = I like how he tries to act and imitate humans. In some ways, he can be very human, and then the rest of the time just not human at all. I suspect Death is one of the more popular characters.
Nanny Ogg = It was either between her or Granny Weatherwax. As awesome as Weatherwax is, I think there's a lot more going on with Nanny Ogg than at first we realise. She's more laid back and happy go lucky, and it's implied that she's just as powerful as Granny.
Havelock Vetinari = what's -not- to like? Witty, ruthless and very efficient. I'm interested what his big plans for Ankh-Morpork are after discovering the perpetual motion machine...
Also, side mention to the small god Anoia (is it a pune, or play on words for "annoy"?) "Goddess of Things That Get Stuck in Drawers"
Just curious to see other Pratchett fan's top 3 list.
5 AnswersBooks & Authors10 years agoChristians who believe in evolution and that the world was made for us in mind?
First of all, I'm only interested in answers from Christians who believe in evolution. If you don't believe in the latter, well feel free to answer by all means, but I'm only interested in the facts in respect to the ancestry of our species. I don't deal with piffle.
Ok, I'm just curious - for as long as the species homo sapiens has been roaming around on Earth for (somewhere roughly around 100-250 thousand years) why did god only intervene until relatively recently, in a small desert tribal community?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhat do you think of the Hitch's debates?
Directed mainly toward people who are religious.
Any of the debates on religion, there's quite a few on youtube.
Does he make good points? Has watching them strengthened your faith?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnMYL8sF7bQ This is an interesting debate, ignoring the all of the ad hominem attacks that Shmuley makes.
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhat would the bible have to say to be immoral?
"Rather than asking believers the silly (to them) question "Is God moral?" it might be more meaningful to ask: "What would the bible have to say in order to be immoral?" If the bible ordered killing, would that be immoral? Or, what if it mandated rape? What if it commanded stealing, lying or adultery? What if its main characters called names, issued threats and acted irrationally? Then would it be moral? Exactly how bad would the bible have to get before it is discarded? Do Christians ever dare ask this question? (The bible does command or encourage all of these things, by the way.)
Such a question is contrary to the Christian agenda of faith in scripture and loyalty to Jesus. It is the nature of belief not to examine too closely the object of that belief. "Love is blind," or perhaps blind is love. It would be an insult to ask your lover to prove that he or she is not a bad person. Most believers have had it drummed into their heads, Sunday after Sunday, that the bible is a "Good Book." They are taught that thinking for yourself is at least woefully inadequate, if not completely evil. Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." II Corinthians 10:5 says, "[bring] into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." This is a circular argument, of course. Don't question the bible. Why? Because the bible says so"
I saw this question posed by Dan Barker, in his book Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists (p168.) It caught my attention and I wanted to see people's responses. I've read the bible, and a lot of it was disturbing. I'm just curious about other people's interpretations of the bible.
So, what would have to be included for it to be immoral?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoCan I have some believers' opinions please?
Ok, first of all I'm skeptical of astrology. You can probably click back now if you don't like where this may be going. But I'm just asking this out of pure curiosity to see things from a -believers- point of view. What are your views on this page http://www.dbskeptic.com/2008/03/11/astrology-is-t... ? I pretty much agree with everything there, but for a believer what would be your response/views/thoughts?
I'm not looking to ridicule or rub people the wrong way, that'd be pointless. Maybe you're just as curious as to why skeptics don't believe in astrology? I just think it would be interesting to see a fresh perspective on the subject after years of my own.
Anyway, thoughts?
2 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWhere can I download drivers for the Commodore DSG G9555 PC?
Specifically, I need the driver(s) for the CF/SM/MS/SD card reader at the front. More importantly the CF and SD card reader. Can anyone help me out and get them working again please?
Other - Hardware1 decade agoAre you unfamiliar with the difference between "they're", "their" and "there"?
Or "your" and "you're" for that matter? If so, why? I'm just asking because I wonder if either people don't honestly know the answer, get confused easily, don't really care that much about grammar or for another reason. I find it odd because it's such a common mistake, but to me it's really simple. This isn't supposed to be a dig or anything, just idle curiosity.
If you don't know, then:
"their" is the possessive of they e.g. "it's their house"
"they're" is a contraction of they are e.g. "they're big and hairy"
"there" is a location other than here e.g. "go sit over there"
Similarly, "your" is the possessive of you e.g. "that coffee isn't yours", and "you're" is a contraction of you are e.g. "you're going to fall off that cliff, if you're not careful."
37 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoI'm after a hooded grey dress?
I saw it originally in Moondrop, a cyberwear/ravers shop in Amsterdam (http://moondrop.nl/). My friend really wanted it, but had no money at the end of our holiday. Now I'm trying to find an internet shop that has it. Neither of the Moondrop websites actually sell clothes, nor give any email that I could use to contact them. I'll only phone them as last resort.
It was dark grey, not revealing, and had a line that went across the chest. If you know of any online shops that sell hooded dresses in the UK, can you post them please? Or if you know of any shops I can go to, I'd be really grateful.
7 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoIn Maya, how do I change the centre of the scale, move, and rotate options for a selection?
Ok, it sounds like a dodgy question, I'm sorry, but when I make a CV curve the arrows for moving it appear far off in the distance, and I can't revolve it around the point I want it to, how do I change where the arrows end up?
