  • Why can't I drive over 80kmh and 3000rpm for the first 1000km?

I have recently purchased a new car. 1.6 ltr automatic transmission.

People including the car sales guy said that there is a "run-in" period and I should not exceed over 80kmh and 3000rpm for the first 1000km run. Is there any explanation on why it should be like that?

Also, I should use Mineral Engine Oil for the first 3 services then change to the synthetic oil. Why is this so?

Appreciate comments that could back up this with scientific explanation

  • What is the most popular online-auction site for Singaporeans & Malaysians?

Would you buy second hand/pre-owned branded leather goods at this site? Of course, genuine at good price. If proven to be fake, full refund guaranteed.

  • What are these little light brown bugs on my shirts?

Recently, I found some small light brownish bugs crawling over my shirts hanging in my wardrobe. They are quite tiny about 1 to 3 mm (upto 1/4 inch). It appears that they can only crawl but cannot fly or jump. Also, they do not bite. What are these? Are they clothing moths? I used a lot of moth balls which seem to decrease the number of these bugs but they are still around. I am really sick of this terrible mothball smell in my dressroom and my clothes smells like it too.

    What are these bugs?

How can I completely get rid of them without using mothballs if they are clothing moths?

What should I do if they are not clothing moths?

  • Flush Free Niacin, what is the effect and how does it work?

I am trying to lower my cholesterol level so started taking flush free niacin (inositol hexanicotinate) 250mg three times a day. I will increase this dosage 2 weeks later to 1000 or 1250mg per day. Also, I am taking Vitamin B complex containing 400mg folic acid. In addition, I am taking other supplements (fish oil, garlic, vitamin c and e). Would threre be any complication by adding such large does of non fush niacin to my existing supplements?

Also, I am exercising regularily four times a week, running 25 - 35 mins three times and resistance training (weight lifting) three times a week. In a website, I found that non flush form of Niacin shouldn't be used during training as large doses of nicotinic acid (50 - 100 mg) significantly impairs the body's ability to mobilize and burn fat. IS THIS TRUE? What would be the effect of using it when I am exercising as said above?

  • Lowering Cholesterol now with diet, exercise and supplements. Is this ok or any advice if it's not right?

My total cholesterol was at 245mg/dl. HDL was high but LDL was also pretty high. Uric acid at 9.0. For first 4 months, I have exercised regularily (run for 40 mins, four times a week) and been on healthy diet. As a result, uric acid decreased to 8.5 but total choleserol increased to 254mg/dl, both LDL and HDL increased. Thus, I started taking supplements and changed my exercise program as below.

    - Supplements (per day): Fishoil 1000mg x 2, Vitamin C 1000mg x 1, Vitamin E 400mg x 1, Allicin Garlic 650mg x 1

    - Exercise: Running for 25 to 30mins 4 times a week, Weight Lifting 3 times a week

    - Diet: Oatmeal as breakfast with honey, flaxseed, cinamon powder three times a week, Little carborhydrates, Very limited red meat and seafood, Lots of veges, salads with olive oil and fruits, 3 liters over per day of water

    Recently, I added Vitamin B complex 50mg + Folic Acid 400mg x 1 and Flush Free Niacin 250mg x 3 per day.

Is this all ok? anything should be added or not be taken?

  • Little light brownish crawling bugs on my shirts and the mildew ordour?

In my dressroom, I have an open concept wardrobe (no doors) so that I can just hang my shirts at the upper section and my pants at the lower. The windows in the dressroom are always open. Last night, I found small insects crawling on some of my shirts. They are very small about 1 ~ 2mm and I couldn't really see what they look like as they are really small. Three of them were under the shirt collars and some of them were just crawling on the shirts. I did not find any of these bug on the shirts that I wear often. Also, none of these were found on the shirts that were put closely to the mothballs. These bugs were on the shirts that were bit stinky and not worn often. In addtion, I used to have some mildew problems in this wardrobe but I think they are taken care of by cleaning and the said mothballs. However, the smell is still there and my clothes become stinky a week after washing in the wardrobe. What are these bugs? Any solution for the bugs and the ordour?

  • Looking for a nice accomodation in Koh Saumi, Thailand.?

Hi, I am planning for a 3 to 4 night trip to Samui with my wife. We are at early 30s and have been married for about 3 years. After searching through the internet for last 4 days, I have shortlisted the resorts in my preference order as per below.

    - Muang Samui Spa Resort

    - Napasai

    - Tongsai Bay Beach

    - Amari Palm Reef

Would anyone be able to comapre all of them and advise the pros and cons? Which one would be the best of your choice among these 4?

We want to stay at a resort which offers a nice clean beach with soft sands, a clean spacious room and a good breakfast. Also, a newly refurbished or recently built resort is preferred.

    Thanks

  • Would Fish Oil or Omega 3 supplements increase uric acid level?

In August, my doc told me that my cholesterol level was 248 and uric acid level was at 9.0 with blood pressure average at 150/96. As per her advice, I have gone through diet (limiting animal fat intake and eating lots of veges and fruits) and exercise (walking/running for 30 to 45 mins 4 times a week) for last 4 months. In result, I have lost 8 kg and my blood pressure went down to 138/80. However, my cholesterol has increased a bit although the uric acid level went down by 0.5. Before my doc puts me on medication, I would like to try taking some supplements and more strict diet.

Due to high uric acid, I am avoiding Herring, Mackerel, Sardines etc. However, to lower my cholesterol level, I found that many are saying that it is good to take fish oil tablets or omega 3 supplements. Would these supplements/tablets also contain high purine or uric acid? Would they increase my uric acid level? If I can take these, how much should I take them?

  • Uric Acid and High Cholesterol, what can I do?

Hi, I am a 33 year old male. I occasionally feel my heart palpitating and I feel dizzy quite often. 3 mths ago, my blood pressure was at 130/96 and cholesterol was at 240. Also my uric acid rate was at 9.0.

So.. for last 2 ~ 3 months, I have been on a strict diet reducing animal fat intake and eating more veges and fruits. Also, I have been excercising for 35 to 45 minutes 4 to 5 times a week. As a result, I have lost 8 kg from 77kg to 69kg in last 8 weeks. For the high uric acid, I am limiting my protein intake and drinking more than 2 liters of water per day. Although my condition improved after all these diet and exercise, I still have the same symptoms....

    Are there any further suggestions?

Also, I found that many people are recommending oatmeals to lower my cholesterol level. However, the booklet I recieved from my health screener says that I should reduce the intake of oats and wheats due to my uric acid level. If I take oatmeals, would it worsen my condition

  • Is this good time for weight lifting or not?

During my health screening 3 months ago, I found that I had mildly high blood pressure with high cholesterol. For last 2 and half months, I have been on a strict diet by cutting down food that is not good for my condition and walking/running for more than 30 mins, 4 to 5 times a week. For 8 weeks, I lost 8 kg (77 -> 69). I recently feel better slightly but I still feel some dizziness. Information available in Internet says that it is not good to do weightlifting when the blood pressure is high. Is it true? Is there any mild training to develop lean muscles without worsening my health condtion?

  • Seeking advice on purchasing F-1 ticket.?

I am planning to go to F1 Grandprix in Malaysia next year. In ticketing websites, I found that there are various seat sections available with price ranging from USD 29 to USD 500. Can anyone recommend a good seat section in where more overtaking or incidents take place? Should I pick the seat at the straight section or corners?
