  • I need your advice! What's better: the Nook, E-Reader, or the Kindle?

I am a college student (with a budget, of course,) looking to buy an E-book device. I never ever thought I would want one, but this semester I am taking a Children's Lit course and I need to purchase like 20 books. I figured I might as well buy an E-reader because in the long-run, it'll be cheaper than buying many books in the future.

I recently spoke with my friend's mom and she told me that she has a Kindle. She said the only thing she doesn't like about it is that you can't share books for free. Is that true? I think I want one that lets me share books with my friends for free (because I know a lot of my friends are in the Children's Lit course, too.)

Please help! I haven't done much research, so I don't really know anything about any of them. Fill me in! :)

    Thanks in advance!

  • Should my bronchitis/sinus infection be gone after a week of taking antibiotics?

So I went to the doctor a week ago because I've had a sinus infection for over a month and a half, and I also developed a deep, hoarse bronchial cough. They gave me a 10-day dosage of amoxicillin and Mucinex DM. I've been taking the amoxicillin twice a day and the Mucinex at least once a day, if not twice. They said if I don't improve in a week, I need to let them know. I definitely do not feel like I've improved..my cough is still here and it's just as bad; I also still have weezing when I breathe and my chest feels tight when I lay down to go to sleep. I also still feel congested in my nasal cavities.

Is this a problem? I know it won't be treated immediately but I figured I should at least see an improvement.

Any information will help! Thank you!

  • Could a nickel allergy cause severe nausea?

    I recently posted this:

Someone please help, because the doctors seem to not be able to.

I am a 19 year old female college student. For months now, (probably since October or November,) I have been getting overwhelming feelings of nausea, every single day. I will be sitting with my friends perfectly fine one minute, and the next minute I'm laying down because I feel so utterly sick. I've even woken up throwing up a few times.

The doctors and myself have ruled out the following:

    -Pregnancy

-Birth Control (I was on it but I am not anymore)

-Diabetes, or any other glucose-related diseases

It's possible that it could be acid reflux, but I take Zantac nearly every day.

A few other symptoms that could be related: (sorry if this is too much information..)

-Red, itchy bumps on my torso that come and go. (Look like pimples but do not pop; they go away with time.)

-Throwing up from just a few drinks of any alcohol

Please help me. I've been to two different doctors and neither can tell what exactly is making me so sick. It is to the point where it's interfering with my social and academic life.

Thanks in advance to any answers!

I went to the doctor today and I am going to get some upper GI tests done soon. But I was just thinking: I keep getting horribly itchy red bumps by my belt. Its a leather belt with a metal buckle- I'm assuming it's made of nickel. I've always had a bad allergic reaction to nickel (I can't wear any earrings or jewlery with it or my ears get really itchy and red and infected.)

Do you think it's possible that my belt could be causing my nausea? Is that common?

    Thanks again for any answers!

  • i have a very painful stye..help please!?

so a stye appeared in the inner corner of my eye on monday night.

it's now wednesday morning and i can barely open my eye! it's so swollen and it hurts so bad.

i've been doing the hot compress that everyone keeps telling me to do, hoping it'll make it go away faster by killing the bacteria, but it seems to only getting worse.

and the bad part is that i have to go to class in an hour! ahh can anyone help me? will putting an ice cube on it make the swelling go away? i'm really tempted to put ice on it but i don't want it to make it worse.

thanks so much for any help!

  • Question about birth control..?

Okay so I know that birth control obviously regulates your period: the flow, the amount of days it lasts for, etc.

If you somehow got pregnant on birth control, and you were unaware so you continued to take the birth control...would you still get your period when it was due? Or would it stop, just as if you were off of the pill?

    Just curious:)

    Thanks!

  • I'm having PVC's..do you think it's urgent?

I've been having horrible PVC's for a few months now. Do you think I should seek a doctor?

Has anyone ever had pvc's and found out what the condition was? I keep hearing stories about how people always have them and the doctors can't find any reason behind them.

    Thanks for the help!

  • how can i get rid of purple acne scars? (also known as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation)?

My acne "scars" are not horrible..they look similar to this girl's:

    http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Treat-Acne-Discolor...

But I still have to wear a lot of make up to cover up the purple marks. They aren't raised or depressed in my skin, so I've heard that they will go away with time.

Will anything make them go away faster? They are so ugly and I just want my skin to be clear again. I used to use the Clearasil Ultra 4-hour acne creme, but that completely dries out my skin horribly and I hear it is not good for your skin at all.

I also hear Mederma can speed up the process....true?

Please help! Thanks for any tips!:)

  • What is inappropriate in the novel "Alice in Wonderland"?

I just had a flashback to grade school a few years ago.

In the library I pulled "Alice in Wonderland" off the shelf and it had pages ripped out of it..I asked why and the librarian told me that it had "inappropriate parts" that us children weren't allowed to read about.

Just curious if anyone has read the book/ knows what I'm talking about? What could possibly be so bad?

  • Anyone with the Motorola Backflip phone? HELP!?

So I just bought the backflip literally a few hours ago.

I'm getting used to it, so I downloaded an app.

While the app was downloading, when I would scroll the screen or try to go to a different homepage, the screen would get really fuzzy and defective-looking.

Is this normal? Is my phone defective or does that just happen when you download stuff?

AHH help please so I know if I should take this phone back!

  • How can I make my hair grow longer?

When I was a kid, my hair grew SO fast. I remember that I would need a trim about every month because it would just get so "scraggely," as my mom liked to call it.

Now that I'm a little older, (19,) my hair seems to just not grow at all.

I listen to the beautitians and I:

1- get a SMALL trim (only like 1/4 in) off my hair every month

2- massage my head every night

    3- don't straighten my hair (it's naturally pin-straight.)

What else can I do? I'm seriously getting so desperate. The other day I saw my cousin whom I haven't seen in over TWO years, and she mentioned how my hair "hasn't changed..it's always the same length everytime she sees me." :( This stinks! I'm sick of my hair. How can I make it grow?

  • Sleeping on tummy= MAJOR lower back pains?

For years I've slept on my tummy, and I never had a problem.

My grandma always told me to put a pillow under my hips when I slept like that to prevent back pains and problems, but I rarely listened.

Over the past year, I came to realize each morning the consequences of sleeping on my stomach.

I wake up over 5+ times throughout the night in horrific pain in my lower back, and mainly in my stomach. The pain is usually right by my hipbones, on each side.

The weird thing is, this only happens when I sleep on a couch or a really soft, comfortable bed. My usual bed is rock-hard and very old, and this seems to NOT give me any pain. (Ironic?)

Someone help. I'm even sitting here now regretting that I slept on my tummy last night because it hurts so badly. It's like the pain shoots from my lower back all the way into my stomach in the front.

NOTE: I've tried sleeping with a pillow under my hips and no pillow under my head. It's a temporary relief.
