  • Does petty shoplifting go on permanent record?

So recently one of my male friends started hanging around a group of people I wasn't too fond of. They told him if he wanted to be apart of their group, he would have to prove it by doing whatever they say. They told him to go to the store and steal anything.

I tried convincing him not to but he was caught between his conscious or being able to be accepted by a group of boys that claim to be "tough ". Unfortunately he goes against his conscious and does it anyway.

He goes into the store and attempts to steal a sandwich and a pop. Then he gets caught. The group of boys suddenly vanished like roaches but I remained in the store cause I didn't want to leave him.

After the store officer releases him I asked him what went on in the little room. He said he has to fill out a form, give his Social security number and was banned from the store. I asked him if he had to pay for any fee for fines and he said no. Neither did he have to go to jail or court.

He asked me was he just convicted of a crime and would this show up on his record since they took down his social security card number and made a photo copy of his school I'd. I told him I didn't know and would look online to give him the correct info.

If it helps we live in the state of Illinois and he is 18 yrs old with no history of ever being in trouble of the law. He is now trying to apply for a job and is wondering how to answer the question " have you ever been convicted of a crime? " because he doesn't know if the petty shoplifting will be apart of his record and show up during the background check. I didn't want to lie or mislead him because I don't know how to answer his questions. Can anyone help me. Any legal advice will be very appreciated.

  • how to find the total area using anti derivatives?

find the total area of the region between the curve and the x-axis

y= 2-x, (x is greater than or equal to 0, x is less then or equal to 3)

y=3x^2-3, ( x is greater than or equal to -2, x is less than or equal to 2)

y=x^3-3x^2+2x, ( x is greater than or equal to 0, x is less than or equal to 2)

y= x^3-4x, ( x is greater than or equal to -2, x is less than or equal to 2)

can you show the steps taken to finding the total area so i could see how i could apply it to solving these problem, or use one of the problems above as an example or model of how to find total area so i could see how to do the rest of the problems?

note: everything in parentheses is just the domain to the equation

  • i need advice from those who know about selling rings/jewlery and pond shops?

i have been collecting jewelry for years and i have one that is sterling silver encrusted with 11 diamonds. the ring size is 13. i tried walking into a jewelry store first before going into a pond shop to get an estimate on how much the ring is potentially worth but the only response i got was" sorry, we are not a pond shop!" i want to know what you think and what should be a typical amount when i enter any pond shop.

because i have never walked into a pond shop before i want to know everything i might need in order to be prepared to sell this ring.

    some questions i have:

if asked about identification, will a state id be enough? wonder if you don't have one for whatever reason it may be, then what would be an alternative? is there a minimum age requirement in order to sell your own jewelry at a pond shop? how do i know that i am not being cheated or scammed out of the amount of money that should be paid for a piece of jewelry? will i have the option to receive cash when the piece of jewelry is sold on the spot or will it be in the form of a check?

    1. the ring is real including the sterling silver and the diamonds

    2. how old am i now? 18

    3. my only reason for wanting to sell this ring and many other rings is not so that i can be "rich" but have some money saved for when i need to start preparing for graduation in june/2012. i am trying out new ways to make money and save while i apply for scholarships and for college thats all.
