Current or former Navy... Will I have to participate in the pollywog/shellback ceremony?
I'm a 28 year old Navy depper. Ship date Sep. 20, 2010. While on deployment will I have to participate in these ceremonies. They seem to be a waste of time and childish. Would it be worse for me to try and not participate? If so I'll do what I have to and join in.
3 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoMy ship date is SEP. 20 and I'm getting nervous. What can I do?
I'm a Navy depper since Feb. 1st and as I get closer to my ship date I'm getting anxious. Especially at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. I not worried about boot camp, (I've spent a month in jail and I know boot camp can't be as bad as that.) but I guess I'm getting a little nervous about all the changes for my wife, my son, and myself. Is there anything I can do to keep all this stuff from racing through my mind?
5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoCan I work on the Blue Angels as an AD in the Navy?
I'm in the Navy's DEP, with a contract for the rating AD. Will it be possible for me to work with the Blue Angles? If so how would I "put in" for that job? I understand that I will go where the Navy needs me, however I would love to be a part of the best team, in my mind, that there is.

2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWould it be worth it for my wife and son to come to boot camp graduation if "A" school is in hometown?
I want her to come, but I'm not sure it would be worth it if I had to leave for "A" school an hour or two after graduation. Especialy when "A" school is in my hometown.
2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDoes anyone know what a brown bagger is in the navy?
I heard they are the married ones who get to go home during "A" school. Don't know if that is true or not. I'm lucky enough to have "A" school 10 minutes from my house.
