My ship date is SEP. 20 and I'm getting nervous. What can I do?

I'm a Navy depper since Feb. 1st and as I get closer to my ship date I'm getting anxious. Especially at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. I not worried about boot camp, (I've spent a month in jail and I know boot camp can't be as bad as that.) but I guess I'm getting a little nervous about all the changes for my wife, my son, and myself. Is there anything I can do to keep all this stuff from racing through my mind?

Find a woman, get some comfort.

Everything will be okay, I'm sure your wife has plenty of time to prepare until your ship date. Talk to her about what your worries are and make sure she has everything under control. Offer her any information that might be useful to her such as important phone numbers and addresses. I know it's very hard, I'm a Navy wife and my hubby just left on his 1st deployment. Of course I'll miss him, but as the days go by, we're only getting closer to being together again. If your anxiety gets really bad, you might want to tell your Doctor about it so that they can prescribe something so you relax.

Boy you got lucky with the waiver. Compared to jail, this will not be bad. Yes, you will have someone screaming at times. Yes you will screw up. Yes you might cry at night. This is what happens to everyone. It is not that bad thousands of people do this every year. Good luck.

If anything the changes will improve your life. You wont get rich in the military, but you can live comfortably. It does take a little time for your family to get used to military life, but it will be fine.

You are going to have a steady paycheck, awesome benefits and housing for you and you family. I would think this would be a change for the better. Otherwise why would you have joined.
