  • How to exercise when you're anemic?

I've had anemia for 7 years now, and it's never given me too much trouble. I used to be fairly athletic, I'd run and cycle quite often.

But for a while now my anemia's gotten worse, and I feel really bad for not being able to exercise anymore. It's bad to the point where I get exhausted and dizzy from walking a flight of stairs, or walking outside on a warm day.

I'm really sick of staying at home, but I don't want to run and faint in the middle of the street.

All the articles I've found just mention "eat more iron", but that's just not working for me, I do include lots of iron in my diet.

Any ideas on how to exercise while anemic? Thanks

  • What's a good emotional outlet?

I'm pretty much a train wreck right now. The past few weeks have been hectic, and I'm afraid I'll lose it if I don't find an outlet soon.

    Here's what's going on...

-one of the two main providers of my household got fired, and there's no way we'll get a job here but we don't have the money to go abroad.

-My mother was hospitalized after fainting a lot, in the 30 hours she was there we excluded many scary, potentially fatal conditions until we found out what was wrong with her.

-other household problems. Quarrels and lying, mainly.

-my own health problems have been getting worse.

With all this happening at once, my already messed up sleep schedule got worse (I'm sleeping 1h per night), my anxiety has gone over the top, I'm feeling more useless than ever. But mainly, for the first time, I feel like I'm going to snap. I'm one to bottle things up, so I know it's a possibility that I will snap someday. I'd just rather it not be today, so I need a good outlet.

Any ideas on how to blow some steam?

  • Can a person with hypertension have a low pressure episode?

My mom has high blood pressure. She takes medication for it and it's usually under control.

But, this morning, as she woke up to go to work, she flailed and fainted for a few seconds. She didn't snap out of it for another 10 minutes or so. We measured her blood pressure and it was really low.

We've been measuring it all day and, although it's still pretty low, it's not dangerously so.

My question is, what can cause this, and how should we act the next time she faints from low pressure?

PS: she's going to the doctor tomorrow, but we're trying to know beforehand what to do in case it happens again tomorrow.

    Thanks.

  • How to introduce a dog to a cat?

I know, I know, I could easily have gotten this answer from Google. But, usually, they consider the cat's safety around a new dog who may be aggressive...and that's not the case at all.

The dog I'm planning on bringing home is an abandoned labrador retriever, she's been hanging out at a nearby school where kids are mistreating her. She's lost pretty much every predatory instinct, she's not territorial or jealous or aggressive in any way. Plus apparently the previous owner trained her, because she'll sit, lay, fetch, and other tricks.

Now, my question is: how do I introduce her to my very, VERY territorial cat, who easily gets her feelings hurt?

    Thanks

  • Any ideas for a romantic night on the beach?

It's my sister and bro-in-law's anniversary this Wednesday. They work on non-matching schedules so they're going to the movies today, instead of doing it on the proper day. But my sister gets off work at around 12am, so I'm planning to fill their car with gas and tell them to go to the beach.

I was planning on packing a bag with some romantic things, but I'm short on ideas.

Any ideas on what could make their beach-anniversary better and more romantic?

    Thanks in advance =)

  • My cat doesn't like me to clean his litter. Is this even normal?

My kitten is 3 months old and he's always been neat, but lately he doesn't like me to clean his litter. He throws it everywhere until the box is empty. I don't know how to teach him it's wrong to do so. Any advise?

  • My Windows Live Messenger hasn't been working. Why is that?

When I try to sign in it says "Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." The error code is: 800488fe.

I've tried closing the process in the program manager, rebooting the computer, trying a different username and even re-installing the messenger.

Is anyone else having this problem? If not, any ideas on how to solve it?

    Thanks.

  • What can I do to help fight the SOPA and PIPA bills?

I'm not an American, so there aren't many on-scene actions I can take. I have gathered as many American friends and acquaintances I could to sign petitions and contact their senators, and I'm trying to raise awareness on the subject. But I'm used to take a more active part in the things I fight for, so this is getting slightly frustrating.

Any ideas on what I can do to help, all the way from Europe?

    Thanks in advance, webzters ^^

  • My nephew is vomiting whenever he drinks water.(more details on question) What should I do?

My nephew is 4 years old and he eats a lot, usually. For the past 12 hours he's been puking whenever he drinks water. Just now, he ate chocolate milk and cookies and he was fine, but then he asked for water and vomited right after drinking it.

Details: the vomit isn't red/orange/yellow/green-ish, like you sometimes see in a child's infection. His stomach hurts sometimes. He doesn't have a fever nor is dehydrated. Also, he doesn't have diarrhea, so it's most likely not a gastroenteritis.

Please help, do the symptoms tell you something? Should we go to the doctor with him or wait to see if it's a 24h thing?

  • What's your intake on shounen-ai/shoujo-ai?

I'm sorry if I offend someone by asking this, but curiosity just struck me.

I'm Bi, and a big lover of Yaoi /Shounen-ai and Yuri /Shoujo-ai. (that's gay anime/manga, by the way).

There's not many explicit Yuri animes, so my only opinion as a Bisexual is "please make more, yes?"

But Yaoi...well, it always follows that "young submissive in distress, older, more masculine dominant to the rescue. They hate each other and then fall in love. The end." It's cute, but it gets annoying after a while.

So, what's your opinion, as a LGBT person?

  • How to keep an "artist's" room tidy?

This is going to be a controversial question, so hang on tight to your chairs.

I have a small bedroom. It has enough space for me and my things, but it is definitely not organized, because I hold too much trash in my room.

Y'see, I write a lot (so, a lot of scraps of paper, notebooks and books), I draw (yet again the same, plus pencils, pens and lost drawings), paint (LOTS of paint bottles) and do things out of recycled things (newspapers, paper rolls, bottles, caps, boxes...well, pretty much anything that you can think of).

So, I can't really throw anything I have away, but I can't leave it just there on the floor, because the room seems even smaller. By the way, stuff is on the floor inside boxes (when possible). The drawers and shelves are full with clothes, books and dvds.

So...how does one tidy up something like that?! Creative suggestions are accepted. Hell, anything is accepted at this point! xD

  • Is it okay to cover the compost container with plastic?

Hey, sorry if I just asked a stupid thing, but I am learning gardening on my own and I want to make my own compost. I have been studying for a bit, and was thinking of doing a home-made container for hot compost.

The thing is, I live in a small house, so I don't have much space to work with. And I just need enough compost to fertilize a small amount of soil, for when I need to re-pot my plants in a few months. So at least for now it won't be a large container.

That said, I was wondering if it was okay to cover the container with plastic wrap to increase the heat. I would do it just for a few hours to heat up the compost and keep the bugs away, but uncover it to turn it and to let it catch air.

I read it was a good way to keep the moisture in when planting tomato seeds, so I was wondering if it is okay to do with a small compost container. Thank you in advance =)

  • Is pain good or bad when exercising?

I know this might sound like a stupid question, so allow me to explain myself.

I finished school 1 year ago and haven't done much exercise since. I'm not fat or anything, because I walk a lot and eat healthy, but I'm out of shape. I'm training now to get in basic shape, so I can begin a mind-body program/lifestyle...ok, long story.

There are two theories about pain in exercise:

    a) When you're exercising with the purpose of "exceeding" yourself and getting better at, say, flexibility or resistance, it's good to feel pain in the muscles. It means they're at their previous limit and there can only be progress from now on. So, if you force a little bit when you're feeling pain, you'll be getting better, and in a couple of days doing the same thing, it won't hurt anymore.

    OR

    b) Pain is bad, everyone knows that. If you feel general or localized pain when exercising, you should stop, breathe for a bit and then start over, but not forcing yourself to do more than you can.

So, which one is right? I want to do this the right way...

    Thanks in advance. ^^

  • How to get rid of fleas in people?

Y'see, my dog had fleas, not many but enough to make him (and us) suffer a bit. But he died yesterday, so now we can't treat the 'origin' of the problem. We've caught a few by hand and killed them, but there are 2 or 3 smart ones that we can't get no matter how hard we try.

Is there anything we can use to kill fleas on people?

  • How should I go about telling my family I have DID/MPD?

D.I.D stands for Dissociative Identity Disorder. It's also known as Multiple Personality Disorder.

I imagine it to be hard for my family to accept I am in fact more than one person, but we think it's unfair to hide it from them, they have every right to know. Any suggestions on how to approach the subject in a soft way?

(it's strange, asking a question like this when usually it's me answering it. but we honestly can't think of any way)

If you have any doubts on DID, ask and I can add details here.

I'm from Portugal, and most people I know don't understand English well enough to read English-translated manga, so I had the idea of making a scanlation website. I can get a host for the website (www.webs.com) but how can I upload all the manga pages so that it looks like a regular scanlation website?

  • Isn't IQ a bit overestimated?

I don't think intelligence is something you can decide with "simple" exercises. It's an important part of it, of course, but it's not everything. I'll give an example...

When I was 17 I had an IQ of 129, which is high in comparison with people my age and even older, at least the ones I knew. But yet, it is not a great IQ. I'm more developed in intelligent matters than most older, more experienced people. Even though I'm not always the fastest, I'm always the most accurate when it comes to solving exercises, following trains of thought, interpreting texts (or entire books), having artistic ideas (for marketing and advertising, for example)...the list goes on.

  • Otherkin: Do you ever think you may not be what you feel you are?

OK, let me try and explain this without babbling. Sorry in advance if I do it -.-''

I know it's absolutely normal to doubt yourself when you're awakening or discovering about your true kin. I know it's a phase everyone goes through and it eventually passes. I've been through it almost a year ago... now I am sure of what I am.

...or so I thought. Do you ever think that we don't have other than dreams and memories to tell us what we were, and energy realms to show what we are?

I've always been a woman of science. I think all that world crumbled when I knew I was something science doesn't approve. So, is it normal to consider having some kind of mental disorder, hallucinations or something of the sort? "Maybe the humans who criticize us are right and I'm just nuts."

(I don't doubt what I am as a whole, it's just that sometimes it crosses my mind)
