Hello I am having a problem setting up my dish slingbox. When I try to run the setup at setup.slingbox.com it says it cannot see the slingbox. I have tried port forwarding to the port that the slingbox service is running on (port 5117) and I know that I do not have an error in my configuration since canyouseeme.org reports that the service is open yet the slingbox setup says it cannot see the slingbox. Should I instead allow connections in on a different WAN side port (eg 5001 then map it to 5117). I wish they would let you specify a port :/

Hello I am looking to improve my skills as a web developer, I already know how to program in HTML and Javascript (I also have experience programming in non web related languages such as Java (but not Java Applets), C++, Assembly, Python and a little bit of C#) but I am not sure what else I should learn my goal in the end is to become a freelance web developer to make some money on the side so what should I learn to become a freelance web developer. Anyone can answer this question but if you are a web developer I would really like to hear from you.

In my opinion defense is harder because the attacker only has to find one way to get into your computer and you have to defend against a lot of different things. Kind of like how homeland security has to protect all the cities in America and the terrorist only has to strike in a single place to be victorious. What do you think?!?

I tend to think that there are two types of Linux Distro those more focused towards the Apple Style it "Just Works" and it includes lots of GUIs and things like a bootsplash and then there is the more CLI focused Linux Distros.I tend to think that Ubuntu/OpenSUSE/Linux Mint/Fedora are the more GUI focused Linux Distros since they tend to include GUIs for quite a few things and I tend to think of Debian/Arch/Gentoo/Slackware as the more CLI focused Distros without bootsplashes etc.

Now on to my question do you think that the more GUI focused distros are easier to use than the more CLI focused Linux Distros.

In my opinion distros like Debian/Arch/Gentoo/Slackware are easier to use than distros like Ubuntu/OpenSUSE/Linux Mint/Fedora mainly because I find CLI tutorials easier to follow than GUI based tutorials (eg its much easier to install an application by simply typing sudo aptitude install then it is to click through a graphical package manager) also another thing I don't like about distros like Ubuntu is that they have a bootsplash so if something goes wrong during the boot process you can't really see it (unless you reboot and disable bootsplash). What do you think?

I know not all people are but it seems like a lot of people want to become hackers because they seem to think of it as cool but

its not (its just destructive behavior). I do realize that hacking is only illegal when you don't have permission etc. and there are wargames like smashthestack and hackthissite where you can hack legaly but I am more so asking why people want to hack others illegally and steal from them/take down their website/deface there website etc.

I used to be a top contributor in security computer programming and software but now I am top contributor in software computer programming and other :(. Can you only be top contributor in three areas?

So there's this girl I really like and I haven't really talked to her in about 7months or so (I've liked her for almost 5 years now). I feel like I'd like to just tell her I like her but I just get so nervous around her so nervous that I avoid her because when I'm around her I get so nervous and get slight shakes and start to have a bit of a panic attack... :/ but its strange because when I do run into her even if I don't talk to her it kind of makes my day :/ I'd really like to tell her I like her but I don't want to scare her and embarrass myself... What should I do? Should I tell her and risk getting in trouble for something like sexual harassment I really don't want to get in trouble. Also is walking up and telling her the proper "social protocol" or should I do something else?
