  • Should a dance teacher have experience as a professional dancer?

I've studied ballet and modern for the past ten years with teachers who have danced at the Bolshoi, San Francisco Ballet, and worked as professional dancers in the music industry. I am currently 19 and would love to teach ballet as well, and I feel that I have a significant amount if training. However, I will never have the professional experience to the degree that my teachers have had. Is it important for a teacher to have a career as a professional first in order to teach advanced level classes? How can a teacher prepare students to becomes professionals if they never experienced it first hand?

  • Having a hard time honoring my parents?

My parents don't tell me they love me or encourage me in activities or in my faith. My mom especially always seems to ignore me. I know I should honor my parents, but it is hard for me because I feel like they don't deserve it. I know I shouldn't be bitter because my parents never abused me or anything like that. From the outside, it looks like my family is great. I think the biggest reason why I have a hard time honoring my parents though is because they still feel like they are great parents even after I confronted them about how I feel. I want an apology or at least for them to admit that they are not amazing, wonderful parents. Am I being ridiculous to think these things? How do I honor someone I feel isn't worthy of honor?

  • Is my Hummel figurine authentic?

I was recently going through some of my grandmother's old things and came across a Hummel figure, "Hear Ye, Hear Ye". It has a blue sticker on the bottom that says "Original Hummel Reproduction hand painted". There is a little bit more below that but the sticker has worn off so I can't read it. Although I think it might say it was made in the U.S. I know that Hummel's are supposed to have the signature trademark. So, does that mean mine is a fake? Also, is there any way I could figure out the date or the worth?

  • Which prom dress do you like better?

I am 5'10" and slender. I have long brown hair and fair skin. I want a dress that is classy, sophisticated, and unique. I want something that will be gorgeous and make me stand out. I am really torn between these two dresses.

  • Wearing flats with a slit prom dress?

The guy that asked me to prom is pretty much the same height as me, maybe like a tiny bit shorter, but nothing that noticeable. The only problem is that I fell in LOVE with this dress: http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD11... It's a slit dress though and I feel like flat might look a little strange with it. I wore sliver beaded sandal flats last year and they were pretty, but you could really only see the top of them, not the whole shoe. Should I go for the flats and be the same height, or go for the heels even though I will be taller?

  • Should I ask this guy to prom?

So I'm a senior girl and really want to go to prom, but I don't talk to guys that much so I know they probably won't ask me. There's this one guy that I want to ask and I asked one of his friends if he is already going with someone and they said that he didn't want to go at all. We don't talk that much, but we know each other because we go to a small school and have been in the same class for all 12 years. Do you think I should still ask if he said he doesn't want to go?

Also, what is a good way to ask? I was thinking about making a big cookie that said "Prom?" on it and giving it to him. Would it be ok if I put it in his locker with a note or should I do it in person? I just feel like it might be more awkward in person because we don't talk on a regular basis.

  • How many children would the average woman have if there was no birth control?

By no birth control I mean there was absolutely no measures taken to prevent children. Lets say she starts having kids at age 20 and stops when she slows down at 40. She breastfeeds each of her kids for 18 months. How many children would the average woman give birth to? That is assuming there are no multiple births.

  • I want to get married and take care of a family, not go to college?

I'm a senior in high school this year so I have a lot of pressure to decide about my future. I'm taking several dual credit classes and have a 4.0 GPA. I've never wanted to go to college, but I feel like I have to since it's what everyone expects. I've never been that interested in a career. Whenever I picture myself in the future, it's always as a stay at home mom. It's all I've ever wanted to be. There's just so much pressure that going to college is absolutely necessary. I know that I will end up with college loans to pay off, and I don't want to feel trapped in a career because of it. On the other hand, there is no guarantee I will be married any time soon. What can I do in the meantime without being a burden to my parents or making people think I'm lazy? Any advice would be helpful. I'm just feeling kind of trapped right now.

  • What would be the best type of work dog for me to get?

I want a strong, sturdy dog that will be living entirely outdoors. It will have to have a good coat to stand Minnesota winters. It's main job will be monitoring my flock of chickens, so a good watchdog is needed. However, it still has to be friendly enough that I don't have to worry about it with children. I also have goats, but a herding dog is not necessary. I do not have my entire property fenced so a dog that does not wander is crucial. As far as size, color, or any other factor, I don't really have a preference as long as it meets my other criteria.

  • What should I do for my 18th birthday?

My 18th birthday is coming up and I want to do something really fun. I was thinking about throwing a decent sized party, but I've never thrown a party before and I'm not going to serve alcohol. I don't have a cool house or a pool or anything so that kind of limits my locations. Any ideas anyone? (I'm a girl btw.)

  • Do I look norwegian to you?

    http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc358/jocelyn-m...

I have fair skin, blue green eyes (they look more green in the photo), and medium brown hair with reddish undertones. I'm tall (5'10") and fairly slender. I'm 50% Norwegian, 25% German, and about 25% Pennsylvania Dutch. There also must have been some Irish in there somewhere because my last name has strong Irish origins. So my question is do I look Norwegian, and if not do I look more German or Irish or a combination?

  • How to be more feminine when you're tall?

I'm 5'10" and a totally girly girl at heart. I always try to act sweet, wear a lot of dresses and girly clothes with lace and bows, and have long hair. I'm fairly slender and a lot of people have told me I should go into modeling. I've always hated my height though. Guys treat me different than shorter girls, and I've never had a boyfriend (I'm 17). I just always feel like no matter what I do I don't look girly enough and guys are never going want to date me. I'm pretty smart and portray a lot of confidence so I feel like that paired with my height makes me seem unapproachable? I feel like my only solution is to try to be as skinny as I can without looking anorexic to make myself smaller. I hate that I weigh so much, but it's not my fault that I am tall. Everybody says height is a good thing, but they don't have to live with it!

  • Advice for building a cob/log cabin?

So I recently bought 40 acres in northeastern Minnesota. I'm interested in building a cabin with natural materials that can (for the most part) be obtained from my land. I've heard good things about the durability and price of building with cob. However, my concern is that it will not be energy efficient enough for the harsh MN winters. Although, straw bales are supposed to be great insulators so maybe I could get that to work out? My second choice is to build a log cabin, but my property contains mostly aspen trees. These are the only materials I really have to work with. I really want something that will be energy efficient in the long run. Can I work with what I have or am I better of bringing in materials instead?

  • Do you think it's weird to wear skirts and dresses everyday?

I'm 17 and I own a lot of different skirts and dresses. Would it be weird if I wore them everyday? Most of my dresses are knee length or longer. I have a lot of maxi skirts too. I feel like people at my school might make fun of me. When I wear skirts I just feel more classy and feminine. Anyway, any input would be great. Thanks.

  • How can I improve my arch?

I'm a very late ballet dancer. I started pointe 6 months ago at age 16. I have basically no arch and would like to know some exercises to help improve it. I tried doing some basic pointe and flex exercises, but they didn't do a lot for me. I'm kind of worried that it's too late since my feet are probably already fully developed.

Here is a picture of both of my feet pointed as far as they can go.

  • What should I wear with my prom dress?

My school's prom is this weekend and unfortunately it's supposed to be cold, only about 30 degrees. So I need something to wear over my dress that I will take off when I get there. I was thinking a simple white cardigan? Any ideas would be great.
