  • A question about Justice to theists (legitimate question)?

So theists (specifically from the Abrahamic faiths: Judiasm, Christianity, Islam) why do you seek forms of justice here on earth.

Why worry about bringing justice to a perceived bad person in this world when you know your god will deliver the perfect form of justice? Your god knows everything and is perfect so his deliverance of justice will be perfect. Meanwhile, our justice system is built upon laws and the judgements and perceptions of humans. We are very limited and imperfect. We get things wrong. We make punishments too light or too heavy.

So why even bother with delivering justice to a murder or thief in this world when eventually he/she will be judged and sentenced by your god?

  • Conservatives against Separation of Church and State, what do you think of this:?

"We establish no religion in this country. We command no worship. We mandate no belief, nor will we ever. Church and state are and must remain separate." -Ronald Reagan.

  • Christians, what do you think of this quote?

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

  • Catholics, (serious question here)?

I was wondering what Biblical justifications there were to be against birth control. I constantly hear about the Pope and other Catholic leaders who speak out against all forms of birth control (even condoms). I was just wondering if those anti-birth control beliefs were based on particular Biblical passages or just some Catholic tradition. I rarely hear of any other Christian sect speak out against birth control (aside from abortion).

Honestly, I was just curious. Also, do you, as modern Catholic, abide by the strict anti-birth control rules? Being against birth control seems to me to be a bit dangerous.

  • Christians, a question on Adam and Eve (legitimate question)?

Ok, so Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge that gave them the knowledge to know good from evil (The Original Sin). God had told them not to eat the fruit and so he punished them.

My question is: why did God punish them for eating from the Tree of Knowledge when they didnt know right from wrong before eating the fruit? If he created two beings who didnt know right from wrong, why did he expect them to make the right choices?

  • Christian Conservatives who support the Death Penalty (calm, rational answers only)?

I am genuinely curious about your mindset. Many Conservatives claim to follow the moral/ethical values taught by Jesus. Many Christians, when in doubt, ask the popular "What would Jesus do" to help guide their decisions in life. Now, we are human so we are of course imperfect. But I do not see how any Christian could support the Death Penalty. Jesus was a strict pacifist that taught his followers to love everyone including, and especially, our enemies who seek to harm us.

How do you justify, in your mind, the Death Penalty. I am NOT saying the Death Penalty is wrong or immoral or whatever. I am just wondering how some Christians can support it even though it is contradictory of the teachings of Jesus that they supposedly follow.

Please, give calm, rational answers. I want actual intelligent discourse. (Dont worry, I wont Report your answers even if they are not).
