  • Inflamed plugs? What could be causing it?

A few months ago I put in some new plugs. Recently though, only one of my ears has gotten a bit swollen over the last few days. It seems to be bleeding a tiny little bit, but nothing significant. What on earth could possible be causing it? Nothing has changed at all in my routine in the last few weeks.

  • Leg discoloration when cold?

I'm a late-teens female who has been noticing something the last few years that I wasn't too curious about until now.

When I am exposed to cold weather (especially snow and wind) for over 10 minutes, my legs swell, turn purple, go numb, and itch uncontrollably. I can't feel my hands touch them at all, and it goes away within an hour. What on earth could this be?

  • What's going on with my bettas fins?

I have a male betta, between 12 and 18 months old. He has a rose-tail type, blue/red butterfly. I noticed that on his caudal fin (back fin), he had two discolored spots. They're small, maybe a centimeter in diameter each. One is white, and one is brown. They're on the middle of his fins, not touching. His tank is kept clean. What on earth could it be, and how would I fix whatever it is?

  • Would this be a good canary cage?

I'm thinking of making my closet into a cage. It's about 6' x 5' x 10' (lwh) with double doors. Ill cut out the middle of the doors and fashion them with a fine mesh and make a drop pan for the bottom of the cage. What do you think?

  • My cat is a hellion. Help me please.?

My arms and hands frequently look like I've been in a serious fight, since he adores attacking them. He's front paw declawed (not my decision) and he was neutered at 2 months old. He has PLENTY of toys to play with, of all varieties. He likes hairties, milk rings, mice, crinkle balls, bells, and rubber bands. We monitor him closely when he's playing with something that could potentially harm him. There's only one toy that he's consistently loved, I mean LOVED. to the point where he would chase it until he was panting. But he destroyed it.

He also terrorizes our other cat, Annabelle. He chases her around and tackles her, biting her until someone breaks them up or she gets hurt enough to smack him with her paw. We have a squirt bottle but it's completely ineffective. He eats food out of your bowl if you're not watching closely, he'll rip open containers to get to the food, he'll chew through plastic to take a chomp out of every piece of bread in the entire loaf. Oh, but believe me. He's far from starved. He is free fed 4health cat food (holistic), get a tablespoon of B4Grains wet food in the morning, and rabbit-meat treats when he's been good about something (getting his ears cleaned, listening to a command, that kind of thing).

  • What do you think of my tattoo ideas?

There are a couple of tattoos that I've been wanting to get for a while. I want to get a black widow spider on the back of my neck, hiding it in my hairline (Signifies my struggle with my fears).

I want to get a baseball on the inside of my wrist, with the stitching on one side of the baseball saying "Finner" in cursive, with the other side saying "Grandpa" in cursive, both facing the center of the ball.

I want to get the names of my children down my vertebrae, with their father's name on my hip.

I want to get a quote on my bicep that says "As seemingly as winter has become spring, confusion has become insight". (Represents a lot of the struggles of my life)

I want to get a guinea pig paw print over my heart (My guinea pigs, as weird as it sounds, saved my life once).

I want to get "Future" written on my mid-lower thigh, with "Present" written below it, and my self-harmed cutting scars beneath it signifying "Past".

    What do you people think?

  • Flea medicine for cats that like to groom?

We used Biospot on my cat, Annabelle, for a few years and that was great, no problems at all. We acquired a small kitten (2 weeks old) in October, and he was too young to ever have flea medicine. We've been looking into what kind of flea medicine we could use for our cats, because they groom each other and we don't want them ingesting the product. We've been thinking about doing pills, but they're way more expensive. What can we do?

  • What would be a good dog breed for me?

Living situations and stipulations and other fabulous details:

I live in a 2 story 3-person home with ample room, a small backyard, in a neighborhood with lots of sidewalks and parks. I own 2 cats, both dog friendly and able to out-maneuver an attack. This dog can be any size, though I'd prefer a larger dog. Ideally it would have minimal shedding. I would be willing to groom it daily and take it for multiple walks every day. My mom works a full time job, as well as my sister, though I have no job and am home all day. This will not be my first dog. There are no small children in the home, and it's laid back without tons of hustle and bustle. I would prefer a breed that's less common- please try and shy away from "lab!" and "retrievers!" and such of the sort. Thank you!

  • 2 week old kitten milestones?

I don't have time for the whole story, but a mom cat rejected her kitten, and we took her in. She's 2-3 weeks old and just hit a few 3 week milestones. But what are the rest of them? What can I be looking for so that I can try and determine her exact (or at least close to) age? She's being bottlefed, sleeps in a basket with a warm water bottle, and is rubbed to produce her waste. She loves to purr and cuddle, she actually is purring and nuzzling my neck right now. So what're the milestones? :3 <3

  • I had a dream that my cat pretty much tore my arm up?

Oh wait, haha, it wasn't a dream :/ My little bugger got hyper and started to bite and claw my arm while I was sleeping. I woke up this morning covered in scratches and bite marks. How can I keep her from doing this.

  • Is there anything I can add to my guinea pigs water...?

....to make her urine a little less 'smelly'?

Recently her companion died, so she's been put into a smaller cage in the family room. Her cage is cleaned pretty much every 4 days, but is there anything that's safe that I could add to Pumpkin's water?

(Pumpkin is 9, her companion Coca was 10. It's illogical to get another guinea pig as a companion for her at this point. She's barely ever alone, more often then not she's on someone's lap.)

  • How do I put 800,000 in proportion?

A teacher of mine put 1,000,000 in proportion yesterday, but I don't remember how. I'm doing a presentation on Treblinka, which is where 800,000 people were killed in the Holocaust. How can I put this number in proportion for a class of Freshmen?

  • Writing a persuasive essay about OCD?

    I have so far:

Imagine being at the grocery store, getting a few last minute items before the big party. The cashier gets the food rung up, and the total comes to $16. Out of your wallet comes a twenty, which is handed to the cashier. What happens next? The average person would put it into their money pocket of their wallet. But for a person with Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), that may not be the course of action. One person with OCD may sanitize their hands with hand sanitizer the moment they come in contact with the bills. Another person may sort the money into order by value and serial number. And yet another may donate some of the money to the first charity box they see. Sound confusing? Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a very confusing disorder, since no two people have it in the exact same way.

  • Irish Wolfhound as a therapy dog?

When I get older, I am dead set on having each and every one of my dogs pass their CGC. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use an Irish Wolfhound as a therapy dog, if for no other reason then their size, which would make it easier for frailer patients to pet him/her. Opinions on this one?

  • Rat cage and age differences?

There's a huuuge age difference between Tonic and Ellie Marie. A year and a month, Tonic was 5 months when I got her, and Ellie Marie was a year and a half. Tonic is def. the follower of the two, and the last thing I would want to do is seperate them and have Tonic alone. So, I was thinkin'. I know that their current cage is NOT big enough to hold 2-3 more rats. I would want to get 2 at the same time from the same place at the same age, so that when Tonic goes I'm not stuck in a cycle I was thinking of getting 2 of the 'smalls' from Petco (otherwise known as babies), and using the current cage as a Q&I cage. I really want to buy a new cage for the current girls, since I really don't like their cage. I know I'll have more rats in the future, so it isn't a question of 'what if you don't end up using the new cage for long'. Input?

Note: Tonic and Ellie Marie are my two female rats, I copied and pasted this from a place that I frequently ask rat problems.

  • Can rats chew on porks chop bones?

I have 2 rats, and my dad had some pork chops for dinner last night. So I was wondering if we could give them the bones to chew on so their teeth could get ground down a bit. So can they?

  • Looking for ways to make a little extra money?

A friend of mine and I want to make a little extra money. We were thinking about raking yards, but we can't come up with a good price. I was thinking about dog walking, since the area is FULL of dogs, and since it's getting colder a lot of people would rather have someone walk their dog while they stay inside and get ready for the upcoming holidays.

    Questions:

What would be good pricing for both services?

Which seems like a better idea?

Would you hire someone to do both/either?
