Jess
I am a teenager who is into Martial Arts. Specifically Tomiki Aikido and Tae Kwon Do. I really love the structure, the respect, the discipline, the challange, and the people of Martial Arts. They offer me a place of security and stead-fastness in this crazy, changing dog eat dog world we call home.
How to contact a pen pal for the first time and find a reliable snail mail program?
I signed up for a pen pal site and I'm scared to send a message to anyone. How should I start the message? What should I say?
Also, does anyone know of any good snail mail pen pal programs? I want one that is know to be legitimate...
Thanks in advance for the help!

At one of the Martial Arts classes I take we have several younger kids (7-8) and they have ADHD. What are some ideals to get them to focus and behave? Any games or something?

2 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoWhy do I feel wrong telling others things when my Sensei is in the room?
So, we have gained 4 new students in my Aikido class in the span of like 2 weeks. My Sensei has had me work with the newer students on basics. He will walk over and say things to help. But when he is not directly with me but is in the room I feel odd correcting. Why is that?
5 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoMy first Full-Contact Weapons Sparring Invitational?
So, one of the guys who sometimes trains with us who is a good friend of my Sensei invited me to this. I have only been to one Kali/Silat clinic in the past and have NEVER fought. I am nervous because I have never fought, I won't know many people and I do not know if my Sensei is going or not. Anyone give me any tips on etiquette, techniques, talking to people, etc?!

2 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoBeing corrected by a Sensei who is not yours and not of the same mindset while at your Dojo?
Okay, so I was at Aikido and we had a Sensei coming from another club for an INFORMAL workout. He had me uke Gedenate for him. When he "finished" the move, I walked out of it. After, he told me that as Uke I am to take the fall for tori. But, My Sensei has always taught us that we should not take the fall, we should have to be thrown. (My Sensei had already explained this to the other Sensei) I just nodded and said okay, but I don't know what to do when I have to work with him again. Any ideals?
9 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoBad Martial Arts Questions?!?
So, personally I have gotten really frustrated with the not thought out, ill informed, disrespectful questions in this section. As well was the answers bashing other styles and ways of doing things. Has anyone else gotten that feeling? And, why do you think that is?

7 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoHow do I tell a fellow student of Aikido that they are being both annoying and disrespectful and not be mean?
There is a kid in my Aikido class that I am usually paired with (due to height) that has been corecting me when he was no real reason to and no knowledge to back up the correction and has been ignoring some small but important rules of etiquette. What can I do to try and get him to stop besides ask my sensei? (I only bring this up because the rules being ignored are matters of safety)
