Hi, I'm Alissa. I'm currently a freshman at UNI studying criminology and political science. I watch baseball and football on a regular basis, and my boyfriend is my best friend in life. I've been through a lot, so I'll just go around answering random things I suppose. :) Life is generally good.

  • 2001 Honda Civic is idling rough, shaking on drive when idle?

My 2001 Honda Civic is shaking and making a chugging noise when idle in drive (at stoplights, etc). It barely spits out any RPMs when idle. Just had a tune up. Just got this car from my dad and he's kept it in the garage through the winters. We just had a blizzard here and until that happened it wasn't doing that. There are no puddles when I have it parked so I don't think it's a leak. No smoke coming out of the exhaust.

My boyfriend fiddled with the spark plug wire today that was loose and that seemed to do the trick on my drive to work until about halfway there. Same thing happened driving home and I looked under the hood and the wire wasn't loose. Was fine until I got it home and then it started shaking and chugging again. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

  • Boyfriend is acting hot and cold about our future?

My boyfriend and I have been together for nearly three years. We've been moved in together due to unfortunate family circumstances for about two. We've been through a lot of things including family emergencies together and a summer of me being away. Over the summer he said "I am ready to take things to the next step, I need to know you are too." but then when I came back that talk ceased. He is due for a bonus soon but talks about either saving it or spending it on his hobby. Maybe I jumped the gun, but I am confused. What would the next step be if we're already moved in?

  • Boyfriend going out and staying out late on bad nights?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 2.5 years. I'm 21 and he's 23. We've always kind of butted heads about him going out and being out all night, but it's gotten a bit better recently. The problem I'm having is that he wants to go out tonight and won't say how long he is going to be out and how much he's going to drink. There are a couple problems here. 1) Our jobs never allow us to have a lot of time together. He spent the entire day doing his football draft/playing Xbox with a buddy online while I did the laundry and now he wants to go out tonight all night. 2) I have work in the morning, a 9 hour shift. We're currently down to one car. Since he has to work later he has to drop me off and then on my lunch come by so I can drop him off. He's fine with going out because he doesn't have to work in the morning. I do. And I'm one of those people that can't sleep until he gets home because I worry (not knowing when he'll be home...sometimes it could be 5 a.m.) 3) If he drinks whisky he comes home and gets mean verbally. 4) I'm a community service officer for the police here. I know the cops will be out and they don't have a DD (he refuses to drive though) and the last thing I need is to be woken up because something stupid happened. And anything he does reflects on me.

I know he needs time with the boys. I don't want us to be together 24/7, that's not the issue. I just get annoyed when it's this all night bad timing crap. I'd be perfectly fine with him going out and watching a game with his buddies but this all night bar special hopping stuff is aggravating. I had an internship 2 hours away this summer and he had all the time in the world to get it out of his system when I was gone. Argh. Any advice?

  • Room mate moved into the bigger room?

My boyfriend and I decided (maybe badly) we would move in with his friend. We were living 2 hours away at the time and decided to go to the same school where this room mate (guy) lives. We helped find the place over the phone and when everything was said and done and verbal agreement was made with the landlord and he signed the lease since he was on site. The landlord said it wouldn't matter who signed the lease. The verbal agreement had been made and she had our names and our car license plates (for parking). My boyfriend and I would move up two months later. We were under the impression that we'd get the bigger room since there are two of us, but to our surprise the guy moved into the master bedroom and left us with the room half the size. Our closet is meant for one person and we're really cramped in our room and getting quite sick of it. Additionally, the guy acts like he runs the place...turning the air off when we turn it on without consulting us (our room is hot), getting flustered when we're using our TV in the living room (it's attached to the DVR which is under our name) and we pretty much do all the cleaning and buy things such as toilet paper which we find he takes and stashes sometimes. He even asks us to leave when his girlfriend comes over while we go out when we want alone time or wait for him to be out of town. He claims they're more serious than us so that's why (they've been dating two months longer). We make him pay a little extra but I'm getting irritated more and more with the lack of space and the overall attitude. Any suggestions? The place is cheap so we don't really want to move out.

  • What are my chances of getting hired if I'm on the small side?

I'm applying to be a police officer at several agencies. I'm a 5' tall woman about 115 pounds. I'm currently working on getting my strength training done so I can have an edge as well as enrolling in several self-defense classes. I've interned with a Sheriff's Office and the Deputies there said I should be fine but normal people always say "aren't you a little too small?" Opinions?

  • Discharge Issues? Not likely to be pregnant.?

I've been on the patch continuously (no off weeks) since November 2010, I switched from birth control pills because they nauseated me. A few weeks ago I had what I think is breakthrough bleeding. It was heavy enough to be like a period and lasted the whole week. Then I just had a lot (more than normal) white discharge. I got a kidney infection, went on medication, and now it's a lot of it, but it has a yellow tint (medication causing this?). It's driving me crazy. I think it may be a yeast infection, but it's runnier in consistency than what I know they usually are. I'm no stranger to the yeast infection. Any medication I take usually causes one. Also, it doesn't really smell normal, but not fishy.

-I don't have a STD or STI, I and my boyfriend of a year have been tested.

    -I'm 20 years old

-Yes, I do have a boyfriend. We do have unprotected sex. But I've been on this patch for awhile now so it shouldn't be an issue.

Since I've been on the patch so long, I don't think this is pregnancy. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what could be causing this before I head to the doc.

  • Ok, I'm probably just freaking out about birth control but...?

I'm on the patch, and I have been since May 9. There's no chance of STDs so don't answer about that because I'm in one relationship and it's serious and we've been tested. I started it that date, the Sunday after I started my period. I misread and we had unprotected in the first week and I took Plan B onestep since it said the patch wasn't effective until a week after starting. We had unprotected sex the other day and I'm due for my period this coming week and I've been on that patch for a full month now. Do I have a high chance of getting pregnant? Or will the patch more than likely have prevented it? I'm worried that I won't get my period due to the Plan B (and new patch on Sunday) but then how can I really know?

  • If you're ovulating...?

Does that mean there's no pregnancy?
