  • salvage title due to water damage...should i?

Details: car is a 2006 phantom blue mazda rx8 with 41k miles on it. Asking price at dealership is $9994. When the car was a year old it was branded salvage due to water damage. Has had two other owners since me with no other issues reported on the carfax besides a fender bender it sufferer while in a dealership lot. Was owned by a gentleman in the military the last three years judging that it was licensed at the air force base. The dealership where it is now put two brand new all season tires on it and serviced the transmission. My fiance and I looked for any signs of water damage and couldn't find any rust anywhere...even looked under the car. We checked electrical functions...everything works. I drive approximately 10k miles per year. I know I won't get much if anything back if I decided to sell it or trade it but plan on driving it until the engine blows. I am knowledgeable about how to correctly care for rotary engine cars as we currently own a rx7. I currently drive a 2006 monte carlo and would be trading it for the 8. There are no issues with my current car. I owe around $2500 on the loan still. I also have checked with my insurance company and made sure they would cover a salvage titled car. I have a clean driving record as well

If anyone needs any other info I will give it. Would this car be worth me buying it?

  • Should I buy salvage car?

I went and looked at a 2006 Mazda Rx8 today. I've owned one before...loved it and want another one. Its at a local dealership. The kicker is it has a salvage title due to water damage. I keep seeing NONONONO when it comes to this...BUT...it happened when the car was a year old. The carfax shows no other issues beyond that. It has recently been serviced at the dealership and when we looked at the car we found no traces of rust or other issues. All the lights work correctly and fuses have been replaced. It has has two other owners besides me. I figure it wouldn't be a bad deal because it has much lower miles than my current car of the same year, I know about the upkeep involved with a rotary engine car (already own an rx7 that my fiancé probably loves more than me lol), I only put about 10k on a car per year, so with this 8 only having 41k miles on it I could get its worth out of driving it for 4-5 years. By the time I'm ready for something else it won't have much value left if any anyway (it will be 10 years old). That's my arguments so far. Any other advice? I have already called and quoted it on my insurance, plan to check out financing, and will be put in contact with the previous owner before moving to purchase.

  • Does this woman have a case?

This happened two weeks ago as of this past Thursday and nothing has come of it yet so I am assuming the person in question is going to leave me alone now.

My dog got hit by a car two weeks ago..well he was bumped on his rear end causing soreness but no broken bones or anything of the like. A stray dog came into my yard and went after my German Shepherd. My dog reacted to the strays aggression and being protective he chased the stray off...breaking his leash in the process. My fiancé and one of his friends were outside with my dog and saw the whole thing happen. I came home from work and immediately made a vet appointment to get Brasky looked at. We all looked at her car, and seeing no visible damage we agreed there was no damage and she left. 5 days later she called me and said my dog had done $1200 worth of damage to her car and wanted me to pay for it. She slow gave us an estimate for damages and filled out a police report....nearly a week later.

Based on the fact she never filled out a report and my dog didn't require any medical care beyond his check up because he wasn't seriously injured I don't believe there is much she could do short of taking me to small claims. Thoughts? By the way...leash replaced by a shorter double ply! Not having anymore broken leashes around here!

  • Why would a cat not have heat cycles?

I have a three year old DLH. I got her from a friend at a little less than one year old. She found her as a stray when she was probably 3-4 months old.

Shes never gone into heat. (I should consider myself blessed I know.) However it is a bit odd considering my friend never had her spayed. And I never have.

She is healthy and has had no serious issues short of some flea bite hypersensitivity which causes her to pull her fur out in small patches. My vet certainly doesn't seem concerned.

When she was found she was missing an ear (hence the name Slashie) and part of her tail. We think she had a close call with a car engine fan and that may have severed something internally. Or....she was previously spayed.

I just thought this was something odd and was wondering if anyone else had heard of this?

  • Can an overtightened oil plug?

Ruin my entire oil pan on my car?

I slid up under my car yesterday to change my oil. Realized my mechanic has ridiculously overtightned the oil plug. I've never seen anything like it...and the bolt is stripped! I couldn't get a ratchet to hold...a wrench...forget it...and visegrips can't even grip onto it without slipping.

Stripping aside...its so tight I don't know how my NEW mechanic is going to get it out. I'm in quite of a mess and I'm worried about the oil pan itself getting ruined.

    What are my options here?

  • I have a payroll question?

I get paid the 15th of every month and the last day on every month. If either of those days lands on a weekend I get paid the Friday before.

Now...what about with the Memorial Day holiday? I would technically get paid Tuesday the 31st...yet the day before is Memorial Day and my direct deposit gets routed to my account at midnight.

So would get my paycheck put in the bank on the Friday before in this case?

  • Easier to shave a himalayan?

I recently came to own a sweet furball of a himalayan. I love her to death. She's a tortie point himmie with that cute squashed face lol.

I was wondering though....Would it be best to go ahead and get her stomach/underneath shaved? When I got her it was more than apparent that she hadn't been brushed or groomed AT ALL. I've been bit*hing about it since I got her and have combed out I don't know how many mats.

The worst of it is when I noticed that a HUGE chunk of her mane had fallen off due to matting. Ridiculous...people tick me off. But anyway...any tips or suggestions?

  • Will you help me put my halloween costume together?

I picked out my mask. I haven't worn a mask...or even dressed up in YEARS...So...I suck at Halloween. But I'm really trying to put something together myself without spending a stupid amount of money.

I'm going to buy this mask

    http://www.halloweenexpress.com/deluxe-sorceress-t...

And along with that I'll get some vampire teeth. It's basically the clothing i'm stuck on. I'll be on a bus all night that will take me and friends to several different destinations. I'll be dancing and more than likely drinking.

    Any ideas???

  • Have you ever compared your cat to a show cat and found they look a LOT alike?

For example, I've always known (or thought) my Angus was a Maine Coon or at least a Maine Coon mix. The other night I was comparing him with examples of the breed and came across this:

    http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii265/aliciasch...

That is Grand Champion Trills Gian Bernie of Hissinghurst currently at River Cats Maine Coons in Northeast Florida.

I found my Angus at the local Humane Society, sick with a URI in a back cage. How no one saw this striking guy or wanted to take him home is beyond me!

    http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii265/aliciasch...

Comparing the two pictures I'm astonished to see that they look a LOT alike. Funny...a humble rescue cat resembling a Grand Champion!

Has anything of the sort happened to you?

  • Please help...my hair?

The past year or so my hair has completely thinned out. It comes out like CRAZY. I'm 22 years old and have been under stress at work...but not lately. My scalp is itchy and breaks out too. I've tried several different shampoos and conditioners and they will seem to work the first couple weeks then my scalp starts itching and breaks out again.

    What would be causing this?

  • Is there a way to fix my messed up prong collar?

I've attached pictures below. The first picture is of me holding the LIVE ring, or the ring that is attached to the leash when put on my dog. Notice the prongs point OUTWARD instead of inward.

The second picture is of me holding the dead ring, or the ring that is not attached to the leash, but when I have ahold of this ring, the prongs point inward like they are supposed to.

What would have caused the rings to switch and go backward? It's become a huge inconvenience because it won't tighten correctly when I use it.

Is there a way to fix it?

  • Learned behavior or is it instinct?

Some dogs lift their legs, some dogs don't.

Some people SWEAR that it's instinct and ALL intact males will eventually hike their leg to pee on...well anything and everything they can! While others are convinced it's a learned behavior.

    So which is it?

  • Can you design me a tattoo?

And then post it on here.

It shouldn't be too difficult. I already have ideas of what I want in it.

It has to have a German Shepherd silhouette in there.

It has to have "Qui Me Amat, Amet Et Canum Meum" in there too.

From there it's all you! Good luck!

I'm just warning everyone that I think I MAY have one. One of my longtime contacts just got a malicious e-mail from "me." I'm letting all of my contacts know that if you get any such e-mails it's not me.

  • Does the translation matter?

Qui me amat, amat et canem meam

    Love me, love my dog.

I've also seen it written as Qui me amat, amet et canem meam with the second amat being spelled AMET.

    Which is correct?

  • Is there an accurate way to determine a dog's weight?

Brasky isn't full grown yet. He's a year old and around 110 lbs.

I'm not asking this because I want him to get bigger I'm asking because of the CRAZY amount of comments I've gotten from people in the past week.

Yesterday, I had a guy that was swearing up and down that he would mature out at 160 lbs!! What the heck!?

Myself, I think he'll mature out at 130...but it's a hard call. He outgrew both of his parents.

His paws still look fairly large in comparison to his body, so I'm not ruling out him growing a little taller.

He is a tall dog, I would estimate him around 25-27 inches. I've never measured him for height...I don't care that much.

In fact, I'm not worried at all about his height/weight. But with all the recent comments, I can't help but be a little curious.

    What do you think?
